He revived himself when he battled his brother and died. NO OTHER Eikon can do that. Hugo died and wasn't revived. Benedikta died and didn't return. Jill almost died when hugo wanted to execute her and they were sure she wasn't coming back. I would say she was the exception because Clive mentioned she can't die because of something that had to do with Shiva being able to revive herself as well.

Imagine the most neutral eikon/summon to become one of the villians. Odin is really kind of shit on in other Final Fantasy games where it's all or nothing really. When Square realized this and gave him Gungnir as an attack instead of just Zantetsuken, it made things fairer for him. But, I also like how they kind of made the battle out to be like Life vs Death between Phoenix and Odin. Because Phoenix, as everyone knows, dies and rebirths. Whereas Odin, via the Final Fantasy games lore, essentially represents finality; true, inevitable death.
I mean he was kind of a good guy in FF4. He fuckin' died and was impersonated from the very beginning but he was nice enough to lend his power after challenging the party's worth.

And what I meant by Unfair Assessment is Clive rejected Ifrit constantly and wouldn't use him out of guilt for killing Joshua. Mean while, Joshua has always been Sick since he was a Child. He just wasn't physically strong. Eikons' Powers seemed to heavily tied to their physical well being of their Dorminant such as Jill being weak, causing Shiva to became weak, if I'm not mistaken, she supposed to be second only to Bahamut and stronger than everyone including Ifrit, Garuda, Ramu & Ifrit. Cid mention that Benedikta's Eikon is tough to beat which is probably true but Benedikta is weak, that's why Clive could beat her. So both of Clive & Josh were never been at their Prime while Bahamut was truly at peace with himself, to point of not even struggle to call his Eikon after Clive took part of it away. Considering them talking about fighting the big boss and Bahamut were kind of left out of the conversation and simply became a Driver instead, which kind of heavily implied that Ifrit & Phoenix are stronger. And both of them, would be much stronger than Bahamut, as Phoenix were able to handle Ultima for extensive period of time despite being in bad shape & hold one Ultima locked inside of him and Clive himself, bested everyone. If Phoenix awake in Clive instead (Who is physically stronger than everyone else), Phoenix might just be unbeatable.
@CojaGamez Bahamut beat the crap out of Pheonix first then when Clive jumped in, he didn't fair much better and this was before Bahamut absorbed that large chunk of mother crystal. Ifrit and Phoenix had to fight it 2 vs 1 to at least get the upperhand. It was only when Bahamut absorbed the mother crystal that Phoenix and Ifrit had to merge together.
Odin could've EASILY annihilated every Eikon he faced in this game, yet he had to hold back due to Mythos having to collect all their powers (including his own). Imagine though if Barnabas had decided to disobey Ultima, or if someone else had been the Dominant of Odin. Heck, imagine if it had been Hugo. That MFer would've cut apart every sea, mountain, forest and city that he saw.
You mean bahamut too, I'd say that would take some fire power to beat, especially considering the one Clive and Joshua fought was an out of control frenzied one, if dion had control I'd say the fields are pretty equal.

I don't know how far you've gotten into the story, but considering what Barnabas told Clive about the god and the Eikons after this scene, maybe Joshua being picked as the Phoenix and not being able to unlock its full potential was done on purpose.

I appreciate that Odin is fully summoned, yet Joshua is only primed, yet they're fighting about even. "Guttering flame" seems a little hollow when Odin is all-out and Joshua is barely trying.
I gotta be honest, it's the little details that go overlooked in this game that piss me off... The second goddamn camera shot, what direction are the flags blowing? The ones on top of the masts. They're blowing directly to stern. This ship is sailing into a direct goddamn headwind, despite the fact that it has all square sails down without any angling whatsoever and is BOOKING IT. Oh look at that - there are at least some staysails and jibs, but wait, hold on, are they angled to the wind? Nope - they're pulled taut to port, creating a slight angle even further against the wind. Squeenix...come on. If you wanna make a Game of Thrones inspired Final Fantasy, you shouldn't also strive to recreate your own version of the Starbucks Cup thing.
I think we'll see a dlc with Leviathan. The fact that the walls of the ocean remained uncollapsed for a long while hints that it is supported by some power. It could have been done by Barnabas tho.

I disagree. FF has always been story focused games with its own standalone lore (something something crystals) and different themes in each iteration, along with some great music and world building...not about badass looking main characters lol. This game is definitely FF.

I watched ten minutes to see 15 seconds of Odin and Phoenix fighting.
Some scenes was cut in this video, we do see them engage in sword fight also. But yea it was short, then as eikons it was off screen.
