H Phil, excellent video. Also interesting watching the light rail trams running in the rain there. Actually, at the moment, while watching this video, it is fairly close to raining here in Melbourne. Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
Maybe the Oval is named for Richie and his brother John as representative cricketers from that area. Lesser known John was Captain of NSW for a few years and he also played a few Tests for Australia
Phil...from memory the "light rail" refers to the weight of the rail. I was a techno person in steelmaking for too many years and remember rail steel being made at Port Kembla before that operation went to Whyalla. Rail specifications are dependent on the gauge being made for and pre metrification I recall up to 107 pounds (per linear yard) being produced...rails were always stamped with the works manufactured and so Port Kembla will be stamped when rolled along with the weight. Newcastle also used to manufacture rail steels. I recall a bit of a stink when it was noticed the T2LR rails were from Korea...probably because our rolls cound not form that specification. It is a confusing term but even more so is the great rail system in Perth where the cars we originally used were commonplace on the line that runs between the carriageways of the Mitchell Freeway to the north and now south of the City.
Sydney Metro City is set to open its doors to passengers on Monday 19 August, after final approval was granted by the national independent safety regulator. Based on its independent assessment, the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) has reviewed and signed off on the transport mega project.

👍
Good to see that this part of the line really does move, even if a lot of the rest of the line has slow curves and restrictive speeds.
