Good stuff Phil! - I was on the service in front of you from Carlo to Westmead. That right turn from Rosehill Gardens towards the bridge certainly grabs your attention...
Sexy the way it just accelerated after Cumberland Highway, so much faster than the old T6 and a bonus voice cameo of transport Vlogs, great video as always Phil!🎉
love walking the path that runs across the light rail all the way to parramatta then taking the light rail back. they’ve done well with the road walkways.
Wow, the big day has finally arrived! And it was a perfect day for it. Kudos to the real heroes of our public transport, the drivers and train guards. And thanks Phil for being there.
It came up on us by surprise lol I’m so happy it has opened, it’s a much needed line for all of the suburbs serviced by it. Yes they are definitely our heroes :)
Hi Phil, thanks for sharing this opening. this will be a big day in history for sure for the Parramatta regions. Certainly a nice sunny day to have the opening, which is an extra bonus. It is great that they were able to reuse some of the former train reservation. Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
Hi mate! :) No worries, thank you for watching. It’s truly something that Parramatta and every suburb along the line needed :) The Dundas station building has been kept and is part of the Dundas stop which i find so great. I’ll be spending more time in Melbourne in the near future :)
Thanks for talking to me at Carlingford light rail station yesterday Phil! Made my day! Btw I meant by 2018 instead of 2015 cause I was stuttering that I met you 😅
Even on the concrete sections they looked like they were going faster than the slow af L2 and L3. Its why I like the Urbos tram lines over the Citadis ones. Great coverage bro.

I agree. A quicker way for the north shore & central coast to get to Parramatta and the west. A quicker way for people in Carlingford, Telopea, etc to get to the metro & the north shore & Sydney It would be worth the investment in the long term.
Agreed! Don’t get me wrong, i loved it when Sydney Trains were running but it was such a pain getting anywhere as you could wait anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour getting at train from Carlingford to Clyde then you’d have to change for another train. It’s so much easier this way. They kept a little bit of history at Dundas (the station building).
Awesome video as always. Love your content. I admit I might visit Parramatta once a year so this is like being a tourist for me. “Childrens hospital station”- isn’t that missing an apostrophe in the spelling? 😂
Great vlog Phil why don't they connect to Epping. It's crazy

I was there Phil did the first trip but I didn't see you Today was only a trip both ways but from tomorrow I'll start visiting stops each day and filming at different locations as it's a new Line
Just curious; are the outside stops the only way to touch on and off on Opal Readers there, or do they also have Opal Readers inside the trams as well? I know all the trains there have outside Opal Readers on stations and I would assume the ferries would have a similar arrangement on wharves. In Melbourne, Myki readers are inside trams and buses, though only outside on stations with trains. In Adelaide, the Metrocard Readers are inside of trams, buses and even trains. Also, in Adelaide, there is only touching on and not touching off.
Opal readers are on every light rail station, not on the light rail vehicles themselves. We have touch on and touch off - except for ferries - because we have distance-based charging depending on the transit mode. There's a cut off at $60.00 from memory i.e. after that it goes either to half charge or no charge at all.
Interesting system. Here in Melbourne our Myki cards work on time based charging, usually two hours. Hence, we can travel a short return trip under two hours, but only be charged once, despite touching on and off. Also, being a pensioner, I can travel totally free in Melbourne on weekends, though I still need to touch on and off and can even be checked by inspectors.
Isn't this the line that had so many problems and delays, with both tracks and trains having issues? I remember seeing TV news reports here about a problematic tram line with no opening date in sight. Seeing that this one is open, I might be confusing 2 different lines. Though the rolling sound is a bit bizarre.
Yes this is the one however the news blew it waaaaaaay out of proportion. Yes they had a number of issues but it’s to be expected as it’s a brand new like with brand new vehicles. It’s a pretty good system i reckon :) Once all the teething issues are ironed out it’ll he even better :)
Thanks. I saw them on RUclips, as I live pretty much on the other side of the world. Good for Sydney to get a bew tram line, is it connected to any of the new metro stations? Greetings from Paris.
There is a new Metro line that will connect Parramatta to Sydney CBD and suburbs in between that’s due to open in 2032 :) I’d love to visit Paris one day :)
Ah yes, that's the West line that goes directly West from the CBD, right? Serving the Olympic park and the "land fingers" extending into the bay. Has construction started on this line yet? I really hope they'll do a second or even third Mega Metro series. Yes you should come visit Paris, especially because it's in the middle of a transit-a-palooza era right now. They're currently building the gigantic Grand Paris Express metro expansion, among many other things. This year was particularly rich, with the opening of 1 tramway extension, 3 metro extensions, and 1 RER extension, totaling over 30 kilometers of new lines and something like 24 new stations. Plus a bunch of fancy new trains on several lines. Next year, there'll also be the first multi-station urban transit gondola line opening in the city-region. Then massive sections of the 200km metro expansion opening pretty much every year until 2032. Plus the many tramway extensions under construction or planned. This comes after a decade during which they opened 10 new tramway lines. It's like it's raining new transit. So there's plenty of new tunnels, stations, trains, metros, trams, and other vehicles, like Disney World for transit enthusiasts.
It seems to be a lot faster and zippier than the atrociously slow line that goes to Randwick and Kingsford. Theyve done a great job with the aesthetics of the line too. Just need to work on improving the light/signal sequencing.
@@erroreliminator2.076these are already 7 car/module trams which is long enough. They can increase frequencies if needed, but don't double them up. Doubling up is a terrible idea.

If you think this is slow you haven't seen the L2 and L3 lines.
