    Question for u...
    If I wanted to use a projector as a virtual matrix ....what would I input in xlights for string or pixel counts for a 1080p projector

    Thanks a million!!!!!... I was having issues with my virtual matrix and couldnt figure it out, until I watched your video...problem solved (Auto Config in xlights)

    if you use a 1080p mp4 file as your seq and upload to fpp it outputs the video from the Pi without any configuration, have been doing this for years on fpp os 4/5 and pi 3/4 - I am trying to work out if I can run multiple PI's, some running the video and some as virtual matrix

    How does one get the Matrix line into the timeline? I've imported the video file, and it plays the audio, but I'm lost from this point on how to continue to bring in the video. 'Switch to xLights Folder' is grayed out when I launched the scheduler.

    awesome! would the first example of using xschedule(i typically use this way for normal sequences) work with only a few sequences using the projector and some not using it at all? if that makes sense

    I'm having a hard time knowing how exactly to configure two pi's (master and remote) so that the remote pi plays a video along with the sequence. Can you do a step-by-step including ip addresses, channels, etc.? Also, what configuration differences between virtual matrices and remotely playing a video. Thanks!

      For now, we keep that to our much longer tutorials inside of Learn Christmas Lighting Academy: academy.learnchristmaslighting.com/lcl-academy-sales-page

      One critical thing I found out about FPP is that you need to make sure the video file name you have your remote pi playing exactly matches the master Pi Xlights file name you programmed. For whatever reason it only plays at the same time when you name them identically. There is a rename function once you upload the video you want.

    I use LightoRama (LOR) instead of XLights, could you use HDMI to PI and use LOR software for the TV?

    Is there a video showing the steps to play the video through Xschedule?

      Follow this tutorial: ruclips.net/video/jh1lfaxTa_I/видео.html
      Where you add the FSEQ and audio, select "Add FSEQ+Video" instead, and select the video file. That is the only difference.

    Have a question, how do you connect the projector to the light show? I was able to get the audio and video in xlights. Do you have a wiring configuration? Or know where I can get more information?

    • @LearnChristmasLighting

      You simply connect your projector via HDMI to either the FPP device or the computer you run xSchedule on (depending on which of the (2) methods from this video you use)

      The preferred way is through a raspberry pi using FPP loaded onto the flash card that comes with it.

    Do you know what option needs to be set up for FPP 5.0 there is no longer a virtual matrix option listed.

      Go to the "Other Tab", add new and then you can select virtual matrix :)

    So I can run my videos off of a pi onto my projector like this?

    Hi David, this is a great video on how to set up xlights to use a TV but how do you set up the TV to receive from fpp? I know that you hook up the HDMI cable to the Pi and TV but normally the TV will shut off after sometime if not receiving a single. How is the TV setup so that it turns on when you send the single to play?

    • @LearnChristmasLighting
      @LearnChristmasLighting  2 года назад

      With a virtual matrix, the Pi will sit there outputting a black signal, so the TV will stay on.

    I have a BBB. Is the HDMI Output supported? It doesn't give me that option in FPP Settings.

      I thought it was, but now I can't find anything that says whether it is or not! Time to do some testing!

      @@LearnChristmasLighting I was told that the hats interfere with HDMI so they disabled it in the software. It can be turned on but I lost the link that showed how to change it.

      I found this but I'm new and don't know how to do it.
      We disable the HDMI on the BBB as it's generally not too useful (no accelerated video) and it would interfere with the various Pixel and Panel capes which are generally more useful. If you want to try it, you can edit the /boot/uEnv.txt and comment out the line:
      disable_uboot_overlay_video=1
