I never had parallel parking on my road test many years ago, thank goodness. It was a LONG time before I learned how to parallel park.

I've been driving for 6+ years as well, and still not confident about parallel parking at all. Sure, I've done it a couple of times whenever I have a passenger next to me that lets me know exactly when to turn, if I have space, etc... But by myself it's just so difficult. The steps are just too confusing and they vary a lot depending on: The space you have, size of the vehicle you're using as a reference point, etc, etc... I guess I'm also just very anxious and when I have cars behind me or people looking it makes me perform far worse.

This is the easiest technique I’ve found to parallel park. 1. Get as close to the car you’re going to park behind without scratching it. 2. Make sure your side mirror lines up with the other car’s side mirror. 3. Put your car in reverse, and turn the steering wheel 360 degrees right. 4. Let your foot off the brake and then stop when your side mirror lines up the car’s taillights. 5. Then, turn all the way to the left and let your foot off the brakes until your car is parallel to the curb.

When I went for my driving test, during the parallel parking sequence, I pulled up to the car but another car was behind me and started honking when I was reversing and tried cutting into the park space that the instructor told me to go. Then the other person in the vehicle came out and gave me an ear full and the instructor told him that I was in a test but he didn't care or went away so the instructor called the cops and they came and told the guy to move along which he finally did after flipping me off and we went back to the test center, reversed parked into the parking space and gave me a pass lol.
Wow that sucks. In Austin, as far as I know, all parallel parking is done in a module. As in they have some silicon poles in an isolated area, about 20 feet apart and you just go for it as if there were cars

@@TuExklusiv that's actually really smart. I'm taking my test Wednesday and this video helped get parallel parking down but I might just wear air pods and listen to this while doing the parallel parking on the test lol.
Hi tobin heath - you're right, if they do make you parallel park between two vehicles, the space is 11/2 vehicle lengths. For most road tests, you won't park between vehicles, you'll only park behind a vehicle, or the licensing centre will have posts set up that the licensee will park off. All the best, Cheers Rick
but the steps in the video help a LOT especially when in a tight spot. I got comfortable parallel parking way before backing into a stall, because I found the cues to be helpful. I've been driving for maybe a year and yesterday got in and out of a very small spot easily.
I watched this video and understand everything clearly. I passed my driver's test in 2019, so thank you for this video! It is definitely going to help millions.
It has been 10 years since I passed my driving test, I've only parallel park 5 times. I do Bay/ reverse parking mostly. But sometimes you gotta parallel park like a pro so this video helps a lot. Thanks
Thank you so much. This video is very clear and straight forward without random extra blabbering and you point out clear definitive ways to know when exactly to do the next step rather than telling us to guess. And the illustrations are great and very helpful. Thanks.
@@ah_kneesha4822 Cuz a dying patient won't criticize you as opposed to the car behind you honking and the examiner's eyes piercing through your soul XD
did my very first parallel park today after a month of driving. I'm back here to say thank you. i did it so perfectly my mom asked if is it really my first time doing a parallel parking.
Hi loveyoumothermonster - you are absolutely right! The first step as you're approaching the space should be to mirror, signal, shoulder check to the right and position the vehicle 3' (1 metre) from the vehicle off which you're going to park. Stop--as they say in the video--so you can see the rear of the parked vehicle through the small window at the rear of you vehicle. Immediately upon stopping and positioning your vehicle, put your vehicle into reverse to activate the reverse lights so that other traffic know--via your turn signal and reverse lights--that you are parallel parking. Al the best, Cheers Rick
Ya but what if it's a truck and your going for ur drive test and the instructor tells u to park behind the truck, they should be showing a car and a truck
Caleb Seaton you do the same thing. Just use the same instructions but with a truck. The truck is taller but you can still tell where to go and what to do with the mirror and stuff.
and that's okay its a start to a new experience just learn everyday & be careful & when you don't know something be honest about it to yourself & learn it afterwards!
Thank you! I had my G2 test yesterday, I have been struggling with the parallel parking aspect of the test. My wife came across your video, convinced me to watch it (more than once), and I NAILED my test. Thank you so much!!!
My driving test was earlier today . Found this video + another yesterday . Watched a total 4 times plus 1more before waiting for my test to start. Only thing I was worried about was parallel parking as I only practiced 2 times on a different vehicle. Test results came back, I needed improvement on the rest (not make wide turns and observe more) but I did good on the parallel parking .. therefore I passed ! So happy I did ! I’d like to thank this video and the other one 🙌💕
I got my driving license two years ago. I live in a small town where I never had to use pararell parking until I started working in a bigger city. There I must pararell park. The first time I tried many times and failed, I ended up my driving much further so that I could just park in a simple way (perpendicular parking) but that parking place was not free of charge. The second day, I watched this video right before I went to work. I wanted to park at that free parking spot. I was worried I won't be able to park in pararell even after watching the video. But guess what... I parked right away, first time! I couldn't believe it, I was so happy. I had as much space as shown in the video though. I'm not sure if I'd manage with less space. But this video gave me hope. Thank you! 🌹
Have seen so many methods of reverse parallel parkings but this one that I always used is the best and works every time even in tight spots. After you aligned parallel with the car in front, just reverse and turn accordingly until the kerbside headlight of the car behind appear at the corner of your car rear in your car side rear mirror (on your left side if you park reverse to the right & on your right if you reverse to the left). Then jusr reverse straight backward until the front of your car clears the back of the car in front. Then steer your wheel in the appropriate direction (left or right depending on where the parking space is) and position your car nicely between the space.
If you are nervous, just know I took my road test today and I felt like I drove like absolute shit. And I passed with almost no demerits. Scans scans scans! Exaggerate the head movement. Beyond that, you are golden.
Had to take my drivers test back in 2017. Watched this the night before and went the next day without practicing and passed lmaaaoooo this vid is too goated
I can never tell how much room I have behind me. Always scared I'm going to hit the car then I get out and literally have 6 feet behind me. Edit: it's been about 2 years since I posted this comment. I still suck at parallel parking.
I'm always afraid the front right side of my car is gonna hit the back left side of the car in front of me when I do that initial reverse right turn into the space.
This exactly happened to me the first time I tried my road test 😪 I wussed out getting scared of hitting the cones when I had legit space to just back it up in reverse right. Would've had a good chance of passing cause they only really care for the person getting inside the parking space, and parking(when it comes to this lol of course). Hopefully I pass now since I've gotten further practices in. 🤞🏼💯
I feel so stupid looking at this video. I never got it parked ever, even though I cleared my driving test. During my driving test, I hit the cone and I believe the officer didn't notice and fortunately cone didn't fall down either. I am going to try this soon to see if I can park correctly.
I tried this once without watching a tutorial beforehand, I embarrassed myself so badly that I dropped it and drove away. After watching this, I'm pretty sure I can manage now. Thanks a lot
When I did my test 28 years ago, there wasn’t cars on the road with parking sensors and even power steering was a luxury for bigger cars. The other thing that was good then was that cars were smaller. None of this huge plastic bumpers sticking out! It was a lot easier then . I passed first time and still use things like the wiper blade connection (driver side ) to line up with the kerb on pavements. Try parking beside a quiet pavement and get out to see how comfortable you can park near the kerb, then take a visual marker in the car - like the wiper blade I mentioned- and use it when driving in to park. Works all the time.
After 6 years of driving and not being able to parallel parking between two cars, your video has helped me park correctly! I watched other videos but i wasnt able to do it! Thanks so much! 🙏
I think , this is one of the most easy to learn and understand for Parallel Park Tutorial. Thank you for this video very soon i am going to take my road test in Honolulu.Good luck to me.
I always wanted to avoid parallel parking. But today, after I was driving 10 minutes searching for a parking space just not to parallel park, I decided that it's high time to learn this.
thank you much i was so frustrated. i took my license like 3 years ago and got a car recently and i COMPLETELY forgot how to do this. i was so enraged that i opened youtube in the middle of the road and put this video playing as i did what you instructed and it went FLAWLESSLY thank you SO MUCH
I know this is an old video, but I had to let you know that this was a great reminder on how to parallel park! Great thorough instruction! I've been helping a younger guy I work with get ready for his G2 and that has been very helpful!
So much steps to remember. The easiest way to parallel park is first drive parallel as close to the vehicle until u are facing the centre of the two side doors. Turn your steering all the way in the direction of the car and reverse until the bumper of the parked car is in line with your mirrors then turn the steering wheel the other way all the way and the reverse. You will perfect park without the need to drive forward. You won't need a car + a half of space to do it but little less than a car + a quarter
i was lucky enough to have a back up camera on my first car. made all kinds of parking super easy. but when it started going out, i just remembered this video. life saver
I just bought a car and it's my first time to own one. Executing a parallel parking seems like the most challenging part to me so I practice this every midnight (minimal traffic and pedestrians) until I can execute perfectly 5 times in a row. Thanks for the video!
I had my road test today and I still didn’t have a good way to parallel park. I saw this video multiple times and went to try it on my road test for it to work like a charm. Thank you!
Am I the only one that is gonna be taking their drivers test soon because my permit is gonna expire this year and I’ve watched this video over and over so many times for 30 days till my test just to hopefully pass it on the first try?
Man I passed my 3 years ago your chillin they make you drive down the rode and show and do some other stuff they make you show them to hazards turn signals and Sometimes They don’t even do a parallel parking
I literally didn't practice this once and didn't know it would be in the test. Then the lady's like, "ok last thing, we're going to do some parallel parking." Somehow managed it tho. Fck that was the worst stress ever.
This was my driving test: Instructor: ok, imagine there are two cars here. Parallel park. Me: where are the ends of the cars? Instructor: *IMAGINE THERE ARE TWO CARS HERE. PARALLELL PARK*
For my test we have to use cones. Its absolute bullshit. It makes it harder when you've practiced using actual cars and then they expect you to do it perfectly with cones.
Evan Ranger I am taking my test tomorrow and my friend who took it yesterday said she couldn't even see the cones! Even when she turned her back and stuff.
Ding dong so long they call it long schlong yes but I cried and had to do it twice bc i messed up the first time.... he prob was easy on me bc i bawled
my test is in 8 hours & im nervous as all hell.. esp w parallel parking and k turns edit: this video actually really helped with the parallel parking! unfortunately, i still failed bc i hit a cone during my k turn ):< best of luck to everyone taking their test though!
I think this example is too generous, lol! The space left for you to park is what I call "luxurious". Often times in cities, you get cars that are parked too close to comfortably follow the cues this video shows. It's Good for suburban areas, but in city? Well, you just need to experience it :P
Great video, but I think the speed of the movement, or rather the acceleration of it, is also very important, since if you move a bit faster, the same maneuver will result in a higher radius turn, which might leave you without space... I guess the best advice here is to do the maneuver really slowly, as shown in the video. You actually save time this way, since if you release the clutch faster and accelerate more, you will have to repeat the movement and waste a lot more time. That and depending on where you live, you might cause tension among other drivers waiting behind you...
I’ve had my license for 40 years now, and could count on one hand how many times I’ve had to parallel park. But it is sure good to know how to do it, when it is necessary.
Wow. I've never fully understood how to parallel park, even though I've done it before, but this video just gave me a ton more confidence in doing it! Thanks for posting this!
Step 1: Look through the triangle in the back and when you see the back of the other car, turn right Step 2: Turning right Step 3: When the behind car’s right corner is in the left mirror, turn wheel straight Step 4: When the right mirror covers the twilight in front, turn wheel left Step 5: get parallel to curb
I know you have some sort of test soon, whether it’s a drivers test, a parental exam, or any sort of test, good luck! You got this :)

Bless this video. I parallel parked perfectly on my test
Do you think the examiner will let me listen to this video while I do the parking portion of the test lmaoooo
😂😂😂 shouldn't he be doing that job?
No 😢😢😢😢
We have air pods hunny
@@TuExklusiv that's actually really smart. I'm taking my test Wednesday and this video helped get parallel parking down but I might just wear air pods and listen to this while doing the parallel parking on the test lol.
@@EricMtuhuru good luck with the driving test on Wednesday I'm also taking it on that day
most parking space will be much smaller
zxn6869 true, but if you have to parallel park for your driving test the space they give you is about this length
Which is why 10 out of 10 people I know never do this shit lol
but the steps in the video help a LOT especially when in a tight spot. I got comfortable parallel parking way before backing into a stall, because I found the cues to be helpful. I've been driving for maybe a year and yesterday got in and out of a very small spot easily.
My dps is literally a car length plus 5 inches on each side...
I hit the car in front of me on my driving test when I got asked to park like this, now i'm here.
haha I failed for almost doing that
I watched this video and understand everything clearly.
Thanks.
I get more nervous with the thought of having to parallel park than resuscitating a dying patient (I'm a nurse).
Because this time its your life on the line and money btw
😂
DuxFeminaFacti This is the damn TRUTH!! (I’m a nurse too 😁)
@@ah_kneesha4822 Cuz a dying patient won't criticize you as opposed to the car behind you honking and the examiner's eyes piercing through your soul XD
Jessie Quinton lmfaoo exactly !
did my very first parallel park today after a month of driving. I'm back here to say thank you. i did it so perfectly my mom asked if is it really my first time doing a parallel parking.
Very helpful, but step 1 should be to signal before parking ! :)

I've practiced twice with this video & got it on my first try each time hope I pass my test in 2 days.
Wow!

I just go full speed then drift into the parallel parking spot like im a mad man. Easy mode!
Easy but Hard to master
Today I tried this 4 times. it worked every time! I'm very happy. Finally I have a solid method after so much confusion. Thank you.
Best tutorial ever, it is so well explained! thanks a lot!
Love that I'm watching this 2 hrs before my test
Everyone is commenting about their upcoming test. Meanwhile I have my license for about 2 months, but I'm simply bad at it.

Thank you! I had my G2 test yesterday, I have been struggling with the parallel parking aspect of the test. My wife came across your video, convinced me to watch it (more than once), and I NAILED my test. Thank you so much!!!
God bless your heart for creating this video
My driving test was earlier today . Found this video + another yesterday . Watched a total 4 times plus 1more before waiting for my test to start. Only thing I was worried about was parallel parking as I only practiced 2 times on a different vehicle. Test results came back, I needed improvement on the rest (not make wide turns and observe more) but I did good on the parallel parking .. therefore I passed ! So happy I did ! I’d like to thank this video and the other one 🙌💕
Lol I’ve never done this before and I’m sitting in the lobby of the dmv waiting to take my test😂😂😂 edit: I failed because I couldn’t parallel park
Big Rob let us know if you pass! 😂😂
Ironic with your comment in this video 😂😂
Omg me too I don’t know how to do and in 5 days I have my test 😭😭😭
My test is tomorrow and I haven’t practiced at all I’ve just been normally parking my only issue is that
Madison Henderson let us know how it goes &good luck 🙏
Thank you! 🌹
im here after my dad yelled at me bc of how bad my parking is he actually told me “go watch a YT video on it & see if u can learn bc i just can’t”😭
Kathyy szn omg my mom did the same to me today😭and my test is tomorrow😭😭😂
Am so sorry this is literally my advice to ppl just go watch a YT video.
Thank you so much for your lesson! For the first time in three years I managed to parallel park perfectly following your instructions.
Reference point or objects arroud based explanation makes this video ranked number one
Good luck everyone taking their road tests. Hopefully this technique will help me pass my road test as well!!
MY TEST IS IN 3 HOURS!!!😬
Update: I PASSED!!😊my instructor was soooo rude though🙄

@@Thonck- me too! so nervous

I struggle to figure out how much room I have behind me plus my right side lol So stressful
I'm always afraid the front right side of my car is gonna hit the back left side of the car in front of me when I do that initial reverse right turn into the space.
Happens to me every time. I am short so struggle is real.
Did you manage to pass it since? :)
Totally helped me pass the test today. Thank you!
I feel so stupid looking at this video. I never got it parked ever, even though I cleared my driving test. During my driving test, I hit the cone and I believe the officer didn't notice and fortunately cone didn't fall down either. I am going to try this soon to see if I can park correctly.
We're all born stupid. Staying stupid will only end in a short life. So don't be afraid, i believe in you!
I tried this once without watching a tutorial beforehand, I embarrassed myself so badly that I dropped it and drove away. After watching this, I'm pretty sure I can manage now. Thanks a lot
Doing my license driving test in 10 minutes wish me luck. edit: i passed thank you for the video

But today, after I was driving 10 minutes searching for a parking space just not to parallel park, I decided that it's high time to learn this.
thank you ! u helped me . I passed my driving test ytd:)
thank you much i was so frustrated. i took my license like 3 years ago and got a car recently and i COMPLETELY forgot how to do this. i was so enraged that i opened youtube in the middle of the road and put this video playing as i did what you instructed and it went FLAWLESSLY thank you SO MUCH
I know this is an old video, but I had to let you know that this was a great reminder on how to parallel park! Great thorough instruction! I've been helping a younger guy I work with get ready for his G2 and that has been very helpful!
Wow. That was pretty detailed yet straightforward. Never knew half of these tips and have been driving for over 20 years! Many thanks!
Basically what the video said tho
i was lucky enough to have a back up camera on my first car. made all kinds of parking super easy. but when it started going out, i just remembered this video. life saver
took my test and passed. totally bombed the parallel parking though 😂
Good to know you don't have to do it perfectly and still pass!
I just bought a car and it's my first time to own one. Executing a parallel parking seems like the most challenging part to me so I practice this every midnight (minimal traffic and pedestrians) until I can execute perfectly 5 times in a row. Thanks for the video!
1.5x body length....lol

thats exactly what I thought 😂 My father can park so that there is only about 10 centimeters between each cars.

Did you pass?
Ding dong so long they call it long schlong yes but I cried and had to do it twice bc i messed up the first time.... he prob was easy on me bc i bawled

edit: this video actually really helped with the parallel parking! unfortunately, i still failed bc i hit a cone during my k turn ):< best of luck to everyone taking their test though!
Was a k turn?
I think this example is too generous, lol! The space left for you to park is what I call "luxurious". Often times in cities, you get cars that are parked too close to comfortably follow the cues this video shows. It's Good for suburban areas, but in city? Well, you just need to experience it :P
Failed twice bc I didn’t know how to parallel park :( taking my road test this Thursday. Hopefully I’ll pass now
Finally a professional, none of this three turns right, four turns left. And this was free!!
I swear to god it's easier said than done.
