True. The reason is simple, these content creators don't want to shit on their income stream. If they say the series is shit what are they gonna do content on ?
The writers wrote 10 episodes and HBO asked them to shorten it to 8. It's obvious now ... how could they tease it all season and not end with her claiming it ? I can't believe they would do that on purpose, they're not stupid
It was so bad. I'm so disappointed. It felt like aside from episode 4, SO little happened. And to take Nettles out of the show when she was such a good character... they could have added Nettles ENTIRE STORY instead of 4 episodes of Daemond having DREAMS OVER AND OVER 😠 Ugh I'm so disappointed because I loved season 1 so much. I feel like the reason it wasn't anywhere near as good as season 1 was because HBO is forcing them to drag it out for more seasons to make more money. (Just my opinion).
@@RiSK907liked then unliked because I disagree with your final point. HBO are not forcing more episodes on us to make more money, they’re compressing episodes into smaller chunks to SAVE MONEY, thereby denying us the full story. This was a whiplash episode like the finale of GoT sadly.
Any older sibling who has ever lost track of their younger sibling - do you remember what your parent's reactions were? Was it ever understanding and forgiveness? Yeah, Rhaena ditching her little brothers to go chase the dragon being the conflict between her and Rhaenyra makes total sense.

Tangent. @GreyWasteTim @grayarea I can’t find anyone covering that larys seemed to be warging while smuggling Aegon out in last scene. It was quick, but I find it hard to believe they didnt do this on purpose or for a reason. Can someone confirm this or am I just seeing his eyes roll back in his head for no reason?
@@cherryandrews2748 obviously rhaena knows she can rightfully claim a dragon bc she’s a targaryen but sheepstealer is a wild dragon that has never been tamed, so her claiming him should be entirely different, but ur right, we’ll see in 2 years how they choose to portray that in the show
12:30 I can see why you would think that. But the Rhaenyra that we have gotten in every episode thus far would NEVER call for Rhaena's head for this. Rhaena would have to literally cause her sons death or directly betray the blacks as a whole for it to get to that stage. And even then Rhaenyra would arrest her first. Keep in mind that this is her daughter by marriage for years now. If Rhaenyra didn't kill Alicent who DIRECTLY betrayed her. Aint no way she is killing Rhaena or wants to, for chasing/ claiming a wild dragon. In fact, what tf would Rhaena do to stop the kids being captured if she was there anyway? She would get taken too. Nah at worst this leads to an argument between the two and the trust being broken. The season was good though. Still a classic so at least an 8/10. People are just blowing things out of proportion. They told us already the biggest battle was pushed back and we'd get only 8 episodes. Yet crazy fans are pissed that thats what happened. They told us! Lol.
The Rhaenyra they have given us this far is amazingly better than what the book gave us, but with her future actions and inactions - she will need to do something out of pocket for us to dislike her, her demise is not supposed to be that sad per say, it will for me because I’m a Daemyra fan but the issue is, she needs to look totally unhinged, crazy and off the rails psycho for us to cope with what eventually happens to her, and setting up her youngest kids to be taken hostage due to Rhaena’s ego will begrudge her. Soon Rhaenyra will see and feel so much mistrust in everyone. She will lose trust in her, she will lose trust in her dragon riders, she has already shown her lack of trust with Jace going on dragon back (and this will prove to be a worthy worry), quite literally she is a victim of her own mistrust since the day she lost her mother, her baby brother, and since daemon abandoned her twice now, she almost thought her father lied to her too when she thought Alicent was being truthful about her fathers last words… When your whole world crumbles and you fail to trust people you tend to get paranoid and in her paranoia, I can even see her questioning daemon once again, even with his own daughter. That makes a better story than him doing something completely believable which would be to run off with another young girl regardless of reason, but I think in the end, our saddest moments are to come, when we see that Daemon never steered away from her, he questioned it once, at HH when she was so full of inaction - but he sees that this is just a cog on the wheel. I truly believe show canon Daemon loved Rhaenyra and will always - because she’s family and his brothers daughter… But when she starts questioning his relationship with his own daughter by Laena. We will probably want her to stop being ruler.
@@aprilrayne I understand what you're saying. But as I said, its going to take a whole lot more than Rhaena chasing (and claiming) a wild dragon and not getting captured herself, for Rhaenyra to go "bring me her head!" I don't see it at all. But I think we can all agree that book Rhaenyra is different from show Rhaenyra. I'm not sure if it is just the biased reporting from those that documented the dance. But what I gathered when I read that section is that neither Rhaenyra nor Aegon were fit to rule. They were both cruel and one was selfish while the other was arrogant. I think that was the idea. But here in the show they haven't truly made any of them hate worthy. Aegon, apart from the cheating on his wife aspect, is largely just a funny guy trying to do what he thinks he should as a king. And Rhaenyra has been trying to avoid conflict at every turn. Neither of the two seem like genuinely bad people like Joffrey or Cersei. I like what the show did. But by making neither one a villain, they are either going to get boxed in a corner when we get near the end of the show or they are going to have to do a complete 180 on them early next season. I just hope we don't get another mad queen Daenerys abrupt arc for Rhaenyra out of thin air.
Exactly what I was thinking and totally agree with you!! No way Rhaenyra would demand Rhaena's head for claiming a dragon (that would help take King's Landing - if HBO doesn't change sheep stealer's story line...)
I've got my clown wig on and still just holding out hope that Rhaena is going to find Nettles and they can fall in love and ride sheepstealer together.
i would have been totally okay with nettles being cut if they had done something interesting with rhaena. there really is so much potential to explore there. but instead they gave us the same black council scene five times. it felt at times like the episode writers were trying to do their own thing instead of working together.
Well maybe they are building up to that, like Grey Area said , we should hold judgment till all is said and done . We don’t know what the future holds . As
You're right. Some of the episodes had the characters doing the same things in multiple ways. It's like they had the writers work independently and not telling a cohesive story. Rhaenyra was constantly flip flopping between war is inevitable and actually maybe it's not for 8 episodes. That's really my main issue with the season. I could have learned to live with the changes if the rest was good
I love Nettles but it would be nice to see Daemon bond with and guide Rhaena. He's been so neglectful and she's just been so sad. Daemon and Nettles might have had a father/daughter relationship so it is possible. Also I always pictured Sheepstealer with a belly. Like a powerful chubby dragon lol
My current headcanon is that Rhaena adopts a new identity as Nettles because that would explain why Daemon and Nettles had that sort of father and daughter relationship. I know that messes up the Nettles being a child of the forest theory but that’s how I’m making this change work for me
I actually never found that theory that "child of the forest" theory very convincing to begin with. I mean, she is not exactly described as 4ft tall and spotted...
I am soooo happy that we dont have nettles, teenager who steals your husband...uhh I hate women like this also Daemon was almoist 50 while Nettles only 18
Your reviews have been incredible and I especially appreciate how you dont trash the show even when it would be easy to bc everyone is doing it. Your reviews are thoughtful and insightful and I always learn something and genuinely feel better after watching and listening. ✨ Thank you for your reviews this season and for adding positivity to the fandom!💞✨
Rhaenyra won't call for Rhaena's head but she will likely have to answer for abandoning her brothers. Show Rhaena and book Rhaena are VERY different people- and I like it! Baela will be named heir instead, and I predict that Rhaena will disappear to Essos like Nettles
2:48 that’s not a good enough excuse imo. This season was mediocre with some good to great moments at best, but the final undoes a lot of character building. Alicent now all of a sudden wants to kill her own sons and surrender to Rheanyra. After everything she did to put aegon on the throne in season 1 and half of season 2. Daemons whole therapy session at Harrenhall was straight up unnecessary because he could’ve changed his mind with the visions he was shown earlier on. Also how convenient it is that Alicent and Rhaenyra meet when no one is around to execute either. If Jayce so that happening he would be furious. Rhaenyra still wants a son for a despite killing little Jaehereys.
Sheepstealer was around 90 years old around this time and spent his entire life free and ate as much as food as he wanted. Shouldn't he be as big as Vermithor if not Silvering at least?
I think I figured out what happened: 1. Miguel exited the production 2. Ryan was stretched out too thin because he was a part of multiple shows in development. These two creative minds had the vision for the show, other writers were brought on as just writers and it's not fair to hold them to the level of two showrunners. Rumors about why the two episodes are missing from the end of this season have been flying all over the place and from every direction. The writing on this season has fluctuated drastically in quality. The final episode being unfortunately the worst one. People will rush to blame Sara Hess, forgeting that everything goes by Ryan before it makes it to the show. They can't continue like this, we are, unfortunately, back in season 7-8 territory. Every episode in season 1 had something. I cant remember a single episode from this season aside from Sara's first, and episode 7. If I end up remembering the finale, it will sadly be because it was bad. Btw, so glad that George and Miguel had creative differences, that's how I know Miguel didn't surround himself with "Yes" men It's actually a good thing.
I haven't read all of grrm's books yet, still I'm pissed that they're changing the source material again. Like they bought it for a reason and not to "tell their own story." I really dislike that this is the new normal. Authors put so much love, care and effort into their lore, characters and story and tv shows just butcher them ... If they want to write their own story then they should come up with one or go to ao3 and put their au on there but I'd really appreciate if they'd stop creating fanon tv shows ... I'm glad that your video gave me an overview of what actually should've happened!!
I don’t hate it.. But more than anything from fire and blood I wanted to see Sara Snow and Nettles… what they are doing is being done well but mannnn!! My lore heart is being played with so hard!! Your input is always insightful, thanks for doing what you do boo!!
Rhaena kind of forgot about her responsibility to keep her brothers safe to go have a wacky adventure with the vale dragon who shouldn't even be there. " You won’t find dragons hunting the riverlands or the Reach or the Vale, or roaming the northlands or the mountains of Dorne. Fantasy needs to be grounded. It is not simply a license to do anything you like. Smaug and Toothless may both be dragons, but they should never be confused. Ignore canon, and the world you’ve created comes apart like tissue paper." - George R.R. Martin
I think when one or both of the princes, their dragons and eggs are kidnapped, Rheanyra ( " a son for a son") will go to question the Lady of The Veil in person. The Lady has already shown that she does NOT like Rheana, at all. She will tell Rheanyra that Rheana abandoned them and the valuable cargo to go chase a WILD dragon that probably killed her. That's why everything happened and the guards were killed. It was all Rheana's fault. This will probably happen during the Dragon Seeds betrayal and cause Rheanyra to mistrust everyone. Damon will just pour gasoline on that fire defending Rheana when she shows up ALIVE, instead of siding with his Queen in her time of need. Believable to me.
It would actually be kinda sad and hilarious at the same time if Nettles did pop out like "get away from my Dragon!". Raena would still be dragonless and I'm kinda here for it. Maybe she can convince Nettles to join the fight for the blacks 🤷🏾♀️
I think they're cutting Nettles and I hate it. I love Rhaena and love the idea of her claiming a dragon sooner but in the books her egg finally hatching is such an epic turn around for her character. Especially if they use her drive in the show to claim a dragon and failing, it makes it that much sweeter when her egg finally hatches. Plus her being one of last dragon riders before Daenerys is everything. They showed some background to Ulf and Hugh and nothing of Nettles so its defintly doesnt look to be going that way. Seriously though, what are the going to do if Rhaena has sheepstealer, he is one of the surviving dragons of the dance? How is Aegon supposed to be king again with no dragon for the greens but Rhaena still has sheepstealer? Even when Rhaenerya dies you just think Rhaena isn't going to defend her remaining family if she has a dragon large enough to do so? It messes the story up.
I don't believe the writers/show runners care about Rhaena as a character - I feel like her character has been done dirty this season and I feel sorry for the actress playing here because they have given her next to nothing to work with. They could have at least tried to make it look like she struggled with the decision to abandon her little brothers... have a conversation with the people who will be caring for them instead... give the boys a hug... something. Also I think the writers conveniently forgot the mountain clans exist. How is Rhaena searching for Sheepstealer without encountering them?
We saw as much of Tessarion as we did in the trailer. Not even mad. Deeply disappointed. Ryan and Sara need to get their sh*t together, or bring back Sapochinik. Sara Hess shouldn't be allowed within ten feet of a writing tool. Her episodes are consistently the worst episodes.
I just cant understand why the writers wouldnt jump at rhe chance to inckude cool characters like Nettles or Black Aly Blackwood. Its ready-made cinematic gold. its so hard for me to understand.
It’s hard for me to understand as well, especially when we already saw the dynamic of the effects of not having a dragon in a dragon family likeee With Aemond

Whew girl! I didn’t hear the Nettles/Rhaena swap rumors until the season had already started so I held out hope until the absolute last minute. I’m heartbroken she’s not in the show.
It’s clear how they’d use Daemon’s strained relationship with his daughter for the Nettles storyline and making amends (and, honestly, I’m here for that). But, love how you wove in even more details with Alys and Rhaenyra’s roles. I’m still optimistic that the show runners will pull this off 🤞🏽😬 As long as Rhaena bucks up a little because I can’t take no more whining.
Why is everyone so Crazy about Nettles? She only has like maybe 7 pages in the books.... Who cares?? Plus she was a homewrecker we can do without In my humble opinion. Sry
@@GrayArea even IF they merged her with Rhaena, Rhaen's barely in this season! Please, dear god, have a roundtable "Season 2 review" panel with the big hitters like Tony Teflon going over "yup, it wasn't the writers, the studio seriously just cut off the last two episodes right before a writers's strike prevented heavy rewrites and this was a huge double blow" ....also I look forward to you making more thematic videos about good stuff from Season 2.
@@GrayArea Do you watch "D Charles"? He's a good channel; watch his full "Raw Take" immediate reaction to episode 2.8...not for the review itself ("it's a good episode but blatantly never meant to be a finale")....but how well he summarizes...our post-season burnout. It was a gut punch when he described "I've been racing to keep up with week to week reviews for two months...to the point I'm out of practice on the long-form thematic videos which are the real focus of my channel" --- I feel that. I feel that hard in my heart.
i knew when they wouldnt even show daerons face they wouldnt show characters as cool as nettles... she intimidates them so they merge her with another character 😭
Nettles is one of the most anticipated characters of the book that the fans wanted to see on the screen. I think it just feels like a betrayal that they wouldn’t include her on the show. I do still hold out hope that she’s going to just show up in S3. Reyna goes to claim sheepstealer and “surprise” he’s already claimed, and maybe Reyna befriends nettles and convinces her to join team black.
Here me out... Dragons are not nomads and Sheepsteeler being in the Vale makes no sense but doesn't Nettles frequent the Vale? What if Nettles is alrwady there fetching it another sheep to eat? Come on guys. Don't give up hope!!
I liked Season 2 as well, and for a while I've thought the character of Nettles was going to be combined with Rhaena. I guess at least we seem to be getting a combo character, like a Jeyne/Sansa, which I much prefer over Nettles being the next Lady Stoneheart and just nonexistent in the world. The show is not the books, it never will be, but I respect and appreciate it for what it is. I agree with you 100% on all this. Keep serving up the juice, it's been great seeing all these videos!!! The Discord Sweet Summer Family and especially the Book Club appreciate all you do here!!! ❤
I can't wait for Nettles, Morning, and Aegon the younger to escape on Stormcloud. I sure hope Rhaena Targaryen doesn't come along an ruin absolutely everything that I'm hyper-invested in......
I feel so robbed of this final season, the fact that we won't get nettles, black aly, sabitha frey and many more characters I love so much. I really hope season 3 has ten episodes. Plus, I think the writer's strike from last year had an effect on this season as well.
...we did get Sabitha Frey. She was the old woman talking to Jace at the Twins. She's credited as that character. & the strike had little to nothing to do w/the writing for this season. They've said that writing was finished BEFORE the strikes took place.
Rhaena was supposed to be The Guardian of those kids, baby dragons & eggs. Her abandoning them seemed like an irresponsible choice. Other than that, I enjoyed the finale. The whole season was about the characters coming to grips with their past choices/actions & accepting the inevitability of the upcoming war. I agree, they split Nettles' between Alys & Rhaena.
I do feel like the episodes were disjointed. Like each episode was written by different and the scenes that should make it flow together were cut. I loved this season, some of it I didn't but it is still a great show. Fans need to chill. Great work Lady Gray.
I absolutely loved season 1, it was just so great to watch and even better upon rewatch. Season 2 felt... off? Maybe season 3 will be satisfying enough to excuse the 2nd second, but to me it really felt like three or four, max. five episodes being dragged into 8 and I expected more. Especially because I only now found out that episode 8 was the season finale?! What?? It got quite boring honestly in the second half of the second but I still expected a good pay off as ought to take place in a season finale, ought it not? I really liked Daemon's Song of Ice and Fire vision, oh and I loved Helaena being involved in the visions, but it did not fully satisfy me. I am starting to worry we might see the same ripple effect we saw in later seasons of GOT because of changing/leaving out major plotlines. You can count me among those who will be really disappointed if they don't decide to change their mind and add Nettles in the last second. Jumping from behind Sheepstealer and shouting ''screw off that's mine Dragon'' would be hilarious.
Alys was crying because she has seen visions in the weirwood tree that D&D are not worse than the writers and executives of HotD. It should be called House of the Dragging.
Gray Area's explanations for book lore vs live adaptation is splendiferous for followers like me! I will probably never read the books because so many RUclipsrs post every aspect of the book lore, and I can just pull up what I'm curious about. I know so many love the books, and I'm NOT knocking down the books or the dedicated fans.
To be fair, the showrunners told us beforehand several months ago what was cut and why. Which is why I find it silly people are complaining about it. Its best to just rate the episodes that we got rather than knocking the season for not giving us something they already explained would be delayed. As for cutting Nettles, yeah that was stupid. But only for book readers.
@@HouseOfTheHybridwhen did the showrunners say that cut nettles ? I've not seen or heard that only what Gray just mentioned that Ryan Condal said wait an see
@HouseOfTheHybrid i love some show changes. Nettles being written out feels wrong for the story arc of Rhanera turning on Daemon at the end and the burned men history from the book. Then there's Rhaena, I get she didn't have much to do during the dance. Her time to shine was afterward when her egg hatched and where part 1 ended. Just have to accept the book lor and the show are both their own thing. Was hoping to see the cannibal! But hey, we got Tessarion!
@@cherylbaxter8986 Look at what I said again and what people are complaining about. Folks are saying the season was too short. But I am saying they already told us several months ago that 2 episodes would be cut/ delayed which includes the biggest battle that was set for season 2. And yet that is what folks are going on and on about when they literally made that announcement before season 2 beforehand. The Nettles thing is separate and only a book reader issue, they didn't announce that.
@@HouseOfTheHybrid the 2 missing episodes ruined the season it’s unforgivable. My biggest complaint about the season is the pacing was a snail’s pace being that we knew we were only getting 8 episodes and have to wait 2 years for season 3 after waiting 2 years for season 1. If this was just episode 8 of 10 I’d be hype about episode 8, hell even if we got an episode 9 it would’ve been even better
The Nettles plotline requires Daemon to cheat on Rhaenyra, which would conflict with the new plotline where D. sees the future and accepts R. as the true queen. Here we have a new opportunity for a redemption arc. Also the antlered green man hints at the heavy presence of magic, and you are completely correct that the whole story has to come around to prophecy and magic to pay off the prologue of GOT. But l think the execution of the Strongs is enough reason for Alys to weep. Keep up the good work, Gray, keep the juice flowing.
Nettles character lost a lot of her importance when they purposefuly made House Velaryon black. Her appearance being so different from every other dragonrider was what made us question if being of the blood of Old Valyria was even a requirement. Now with much more diversity to the "Valyrian Look" her storyline is hollow.
It’s still crap - if the point is diversity, you don’t cut the only black character from the book. You can include them and add others, but it’s crap to push them out while you add others.
I read elsewhere that race in Westoros is not how we see it, but to them, it would be Valerian vs non-valerian. They still showed this, especially with Jace. Nettles would still bring that into question if she is not a descendant from any of the Valerian families.
I ❤ GrayArea's approach to analysis! I'm very late to the GOT/HOTD party. The books and parts of the GOT show can be too casual with the SA and murder so they were not for me. A GrayArea review of one of the early GOT episodes actually convinced me to watch! Thanks!
I mean, there are theories that Nettles is Daemon’s daughter. Maybe the conflict with Rhaenyra comes from her being angry and feeling betrayed that Rhaena just left her two boys to go chase a dragon? It would make sense for a mother to be really mad about that.
7:15 i think they are making changes and talking about pov interpretations of history so we can accept the idea of the GoT ending being different in the books with some similarities. just a theory from a “non-book reader” but show enjoyer :)
We all have to remember now that the reason Season 2 was cut short was due to the Battle of the Gullet being too expensive so it was pushed to season 3 so I forgive them on that front, what I don't forgive is them replacing our girl Nettles due to her symbolism
I guess we wont know what they changed until we see it, but I cant help at this point seeing holes. I assumed when Rhaena was sent with the children and they showed the eggs packed up (the 4 eggs) that somehow one of those eggs was going to hatch for Rhaena and the other 3 were going to end up Dany's 3 eggs down the road. But now I have no idea why they focused so hard on those 4 eggs. Seems insignificant but bugs me none the less.
George could have said that, but Drogon used to fly of everywhere all the time or am I missing something? Also would be so funny if they're trolling us and Nettles is allready there. I mean we never saw Rheana claim him directly the ending was open.
I love your videos Gray! I’ll be here through this long night! I’m so glad you touched on this, I was really hoping someone would talk about why Alys was crying. I intially thought maybe it was because she knows what’s coming for them all. But it also made me think of when the Three Eyed Raven knew he was about to die and Bran takes his place. I think with these character changes to Rhaena and that Alys absorbing some of Nettles story makes a lot of sense. Very nice job Gray!
@@samer.4660 Daemon was DISGUSTED when he realized he was eating for breakfast the portal from wince he came. He had breakthrough after breakthrough and you will NOT see the same awakening in Aemond, I promise.
I think cutting Nettles and giving her role to Rhaena is a big mistake. For me, there are two things that make Nettles especially interesting in the book. First, the ambiguity of her relationship with Daemon. We know exactly what Daemon's relationship with Rhaena is, so we lose that. Second, the fact that she is able to train a dragon without having the blood of old Valyria has forced us to rethink a lot of assumptions about what makes a dragon-rider and all of the many "genetics of dragon-riding" theories that have popped up in the fandom over the years. Rhaena does have the blood of old Valyria, so we completely lose that angle. In other words, show Rhaena may end up doing some of the things that book Nettles does, but she will have lost almost all of the meta-significance that surrounds Nettles. Instead of a mysterious and iconoclastic character who has a much-debated relationship with Daemon and forces us to re-think everything we thought we knew about dragon-riding, we now have Daemon's daughter who is just another Valyrian dragon-rider. And I say this as someone who likes book and show Rhaena and thinks Phoebe Campbell has done a good job with the role... it's just that Rhaena =/= Nettles. Oh well. Other than this, I thought it was a great season and really enjoyed about 80% of what the show did.
I find GRRM venting on his "not a blog" very funny... you know what would help to prevent "disregarding of cannon" and make us all very happy George? The publishing of the "Winds of Winter" and "A dream of Spring" and finally having a complete story.
I am still hoping for Nettles. We didnt see Rhaena claim sheepstealer. Maybe show writers change their mind and introduce Nettles. She could be already in vale and she is the one feeding sheep to the dragon.
I'm delusional too. I hope they got the 2nd actress that played Claudia in Interview with the Vampire to play Nettles and she going to pop out and be like "Oye, that's my dragon" 😂😂😂
Rhaenyra better not go after Rhaena for not protecting her son, because she seemed to have forgot all about Aemond & what he did to Luc. Rhaenyra's ending is beginning to make more & more sense, she directs her energy to the wrong things almost every time. This season also taught me how just showing a dragon costs a lot of mf money. Rooks Rest had the show struggling budget wise, because they skipped over multiple battles & just showed the aftermath.

Rhaena needed to do more to win Sheepstealer. I wanted her to do the things Nettles did to claim her dragon over.
Technically she hasn’t claimed him yet. Only pulled up on Sheepsteeler outta nowhere
Why would Rhaena claim Sheepstealer like Nettles when Rhaena is Targaryen. She knows the song.
@@cherryandrews2748well sheepstealer isn’t ur regular dragon, i think rhaena claiming him will mimick how nettle’s did it
@@neuviotterss we'll see in two years.
She will lose trust in her, she will lose trust in her dragon riders, she has already shown her lack of trust with Jace going on dragon back (and this will prove to be a worthy worry), quite literally she is a victim of her own mistrust since the day she lost her mother, her baby brother, and since daemon abandoned her twice now, she almost thought her father lied to her too when she thought Alicent was being truthful about her fathers last words…
When your whole world crumbles and you fail to trust people you tend to get paranoid and in her paranoia, I can even see her questioning daemon once again, even with his own daughter.
I truly believe show canon Daemon loved Rhaenyra and will always - because she’s family and his brothers daughter…
But when she starts questioning his relationship with his own daughter by Laena. We will probably want her to stop being ruler.
@@aprilraynewhat you mean when you said she's will questioning him with his relationship with his own daughter
Rhaena has thought that claiming a dragon would make her useful to her family. Maybe her punishment would be to exile her?
I've got my clown wig on and still just holding out hope that Rhaena is going to find Nettles and they can fall in love and ride sheepstealer together.

it felt at times like the episode writers were trying to do their own thing instead of working together.
All rhaena did was scowl, run for 5 seconds at a time and stay in camera enclosed spaces
Very disjointed writing.
Well maybe they are building up to that, like Grey Area said , we should hold judgment till all is said and done . We don’t know what the future holds . As
Maybe the writers strike had something to do with it. Who knows

My current headcanon is that Rhaena adopts a new identity as Nettles because that would explain why Daemon and Nettles had that sort of father and daughter relationship. I know that messes up the Nettles being a child of the forest theory but that’s how I’m making this change work for me
Same it sounds like something Damond would do finally bond with his daughter because she has a dragon and abandon the kids for her own selfish reasons
Same
I actually never found that theory that "child of the forest" theory very convincing to begin with. I mean, she is not exactly described as 4ft tall and spotted...
I'd genuinely cry from disappointment, it'd undermine the symbolism of Nettles
I am soooo happy that we dont have nettles, teenager who steals your husband...uhh I hate women like this also Daemon was almoist 50 while Nettles only 18

Rhaenyra won't call for Rhaena's head but she will likely have to answer for abandoning her brothers. Show Rhaena and book Rhaena are VERY different people- and I like it! Baela will be named heir instead, and I predict that Rhaena will disappear to Essos like Nettles
this is why I love your commentary... the grace, information filled, and even-handed approach will for sure get us thru the long night
Especially the grace backed with facts❤
I’m with George on this one.
Yes he should be HUGE!!! But they don’t want this particular dragon to outshine any other is what I’m thinking.
I think I figured out what happened:
1. Miguel exited the production
Btw, so glad that George and Miguel had creative differences, that's how I know Miguel didn't surround himself with "Yes" men
It's actually a good thing.
I'm glad you said all this. While I'm not totally happy with S2, it's important to remember nothing going on behind the scenes happens in a vacuum.

@@LaffingTreeLadywhat's your theory?
@@psychedelicyeti6053 the lady of the vale is said to be interested in the company of women
Martin
I feel like...we are doing gymnastics trying to make these showrunner's versions to match the books. Personally.
There's no way rhaenyra will want to kill rhaena
I think Rhaenyra will be furious with Rhaena for leaving the kids.
It would actually be kinda sad and hilarious at the same time if Nettles did pop out like "get away from my Dragon!". Raena would still be dragonless and I'm kinda here for it. Maybe she can convince Nettles to join the fight for the blacks 🤷🏾♀️
This would be cool ❤
I'm def here for that. Or have Nettles claim Cannibal (my personal preference if it isn't sheepstealer) or grey ghost.
Rhaena is the WORST BABYSITTER EVER!

Definitely missing 2 episodes and nettles being cut is a crime!

Damn you're a genius! I think you're exactly on track with how Rhaenas story is being set up! Great video!
Nettles character lost a lot of her importance when they purposefuly made House Velaryon black. Her appearance being so different from every other dragonrider was what made us question if being of the blood of Old Valyria was even a requirement. Now with much more diversity to the "Valyrian Look" her storyline is hollow.
Da@@ facts never thought of it like that
It’s still crap - if the point is diversity, you don’t cut the only black character from the book.

They made Stormcloud too young for the battle of the gullet
The Sheepstealer design is sick though, and could even improve next season
I mean, there are theories that Nettles is Daemon’s daughter. Maybe the conflict with Rhaenyra comes from her being angry and feeling betrayed that Rhaena just left her two boys to go chase a dragon? It would make sense for a mother to be really mad about that.

I really wanted those 2 episodes. Would have absolutely loved to see Daemon gOiNg InSaNe in Harrenhal. 😂
I think if all of Daemon's second season scenes get edited together we'd have one bizarro arthouse episode of thrones. 😏
We all have to remember now that the reason Season 2 was cut short was due to the Battle of the Gullet being too expensive so it was pushed to season 3 so I forgive them on that front, what I don't forgive is them replacing our girl Nettles due to her symbolism
They legit have Rhaena on the show going Bear Grylls survival guide!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rhaena is gonna get Quentyned
I think when we get Aemond in Harrenhall we’re going to see how the parallels people think they see between him and Daemon will not be paralleling 😂
I don't think they will make him mean and a cold like Daemon
Couldn't agree more.
I find GRRM venting on his "not a blog" very funny... you know what would help to prevent "disregarding of cannon" and make us all very happy George? The publishing of the "Winds of Winter" and "A dream of Spring" and finally having a complete story.
The Maesters wrote the book, was something I was made aware of on the channel.... Thank you
Alys was crying because she saw season 8 of Game of Thrones 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Thank you! You are a gem sister 🥰😘
I am still hoping for Nettles. We didnt see Rhaena claim sheepstealer.
Maybe show writers change their mind and introduce Nettles. She could be already in vale and she is the one feeding sheep to the dragon.
You sound like me and I know how delusional I sound😂
I'm delusional too. I hope they got the 2nd actress that played Claudia in Interview with the Vampire to play Nettles and she going to pop out and be like "Oye, that's my dragon" 😂😂😂
You are literally brilliant Grey! ❤
