“Challengers” smashes the box office.
"Cinema is not dying it just smells funny" 😂
I can't believe it made that much would have predicted 10-20 mill opening. Happy for all involved and want to see Challengers even more now.
Oh shit I was driving through miserable traffic listening to this & misheard "$15 million" for "$50 million." That makes much more sense.
Is that good? @@tjk3430
but they won't pay extra to watch at home... they'll wait for it to be "included with Prime"
James, the greatest tennis ever is, Balls Out: Gary the Tennis Coach.
A weak box office, but I saw Challengers during Early Access and it was excellent, just the raunchy R-rated tennis movie everyone has a hard on (I’m kidding). I also saw the original Alien in Alien Day Friday, which still holds up as one of the best sci-fi movies of all time.
Absolutely agree with you about how GREAT that 1979's Alien really IS!! And though many recent movies look about as good on regular Blu-ray as their 4k UHD Blu-ray versions look, Ridley Scott's Sci-Fi/Horror masterwork became the basis for 1 top-notch UHD 4k Blu-ray which exhibits STUNNING picture quality! Although with Alien having so many dark scenes, like those showing characters searching dark corridors for the horrific creature, & scenes where the alien uses darkness to conceal itself, before it strikes someone from that darkness, that makes me note that movie fans with OLED TVs can see all of the picture quality advantage that Alien's 4k BD gives to us, since OLEDs are unmatched in their ability to display absolute black! But a few flagship level LCD type TVs, that use Mini-LED back-lights, have come close to OLED's black level ability. Anyhow, that Alien 4k Blu-ray will show anyone who watches it, just how good his TV is at being able to present very dark scenes, with a true & very deep black level!
You think it's weak?
Was just explaining how it did better than the other Spidey-verse ladies tennis movies opening weekends. ;)
Kirsten Dunst's Wimbledon film only opened at number four, grossing US$7.1 million in its opening weekend at the North American box office.
Emma Stone's Battle of the Sexes was as follows:
Domestic Box Office $12,638,526
Details International Box Office $5,806,853
Details Worldwide Box Office $18,445,379
@@robinvolpiI said this box office weekend was very weak. Hopefully, we soon be getting massive blockbusters in May because The Fall Guy is kicking off the summer movie season (even though Summer isn’t here just yet). 1 week from Friday, the damn dirty Apes are back.
Met Zendaya through a friend in show business and she is GORGEOUS in person
I finally watched the Suspiria remake last week, and I absolutely agree with you. It was a gorgeous film with some good scenes, but it was a bit too long.
Deadline might’ve forgotten that The Mummy came out on May 7th, 1999 (that 25th anniversary is less than a week from Tuesday)
and Alien was a May release originally... too bad these anniversary re-releases rarely match up with the actual anniversaries!
but they have to match them with lulls in the market
“How much Skeet Ulrich do I need in my life?” made my day!
I watched the fall guy last night & thoroughly enjoyed it💚🇬🇧🌱
Seeing Challengers was such a fun experience in theaters especially during THAT moment in the last 10 minutes. Glad a large younger demographic came out, that’s great that they will come out for non-IP films! Curious how much Fall Guy does this weekend. Projections are not that high.
The action movies often do quite a bit higher than tennis love stories. ;) lol
James, are you seriously not going to review Shogun? Are you kidding me. I’ve been begging since the show started.
he mentioned few times that he's reading the book.
I'm very happy for zendaya ❤
I admire Suspiria, for me it's Guadagnino's best movie so far. Far better than Challengers, which I watched yesterday, it disappointed me a lot. The only thing I really enjoyed was the score, it's pulsating, energetic and I liked it.
So is Zendaya now A list or not?
Zendaya is Z list.
Do we live in a world where Sydney Sweeney out-earns Zendaya in aggregate?
Sydney sweeney attracts more eyeballs than Zendaya..I myself changed my mind going to the theatre after seeing Zendaya as the lead cast in this film.
I find Sydney sweeney more attractive and far better actor than one face expression Zendaya .In this film if Sydney sweeney would have been there the film would have gone on to a different level.
I changed my plan of going to the theatre to watch this when I saw Zendaya as the main lead .
Sydney Sweeney wouldn't have fir this role AT ALL, in my humble opinion.
@@vmrsh5339Your biases are your own cross to bear. ;) lol
I just saw Sweeney’s new movie on Netflix. I wasn’t impressed. I think both Zendaya and Sweeney’s acting in Euphoria was top tier. I think both can continue to expand their range to become great actresses.
I actually liked sweeney's anything but you on Netflix..Light hearted Rom Com just made my day
But not the best amongst the other Spidey Leading Lady tennis films: Wimbledon and Battle of the Sexes.
If you're referring to audience and critics standards, Challengers beats them.
If you're referring to the opening weekend box office numbers, you're also waaayyyy off.

@@robinvolpi No. NO. I’m not. Thank you.
