Finest Tolkien adaptation is the BBC radio Full cast 'interpretation' of LOTR.
The blue wizards arrived in Middle-earth during the Second Age. To be fair, they haven't confirmed that the Istari in S1 is Gandalf.
I felt absolutely nothing watching that trailer and I'm someone who has read Unfinished Tales (more than once). They just don't get it.
Series 1 of The Lord of the Rings TV show was filmed in New Zealand whilst the 2nd series was shot in the UK. Quite a lot of the props from the first series were sent over to the UK, so when the British staff opened them they found loads of notes that were left in the boxes by the Kiwi (its the nick name for New Zealanders) stating "Thanks for stealing our jobs" with a quite a few swear words thrown in as well
Evidence? New Zealand was shut down for much of that period.

I heard this trailer was dropping today. Watching it for the first time through your vid made the experience more palatable. I feel like we're gathered in the trenches waiting for that whistle to go over the top on 8/2.
Your videos roasting this show were a pure delight to watch 👍🏻. We had great high hopes for it as Tolkien fans, but at least it is some sort of retaliation 😂

I’m not sure why they had the Sauron reveal last season if they were just gonna use the same actor as Annatar this season. Like you could’ve just had him “die” last season and had him return this season in his new form and revealed it that way… feels off. Not to mention how it looks like Durin’s Bane is already showing up in Moria this season
I have little hope for S2 but we shall see. 🤞🏻.

First show in my town (all over the UK at the same time, still got ticket 🦾 in a collection. Childhood artifact, can't really see nothing on it. Too old)
23 years later , it's still the best movie going experience of my life.
I literally wiped off sweat from my forehead after the prologue finished.
A couple of scenes in Dune 1 and 2 had similar effects. 🕺
You are right. House of the Dragon and Rings of Power boxing match was a great and entertaining win for a culture.
Let's see if Amazon made the right conclusions after season 1 embarrassment (don't think so).

I'll be fair. From someone who hated the first season for many many reasons (I finished it hoping that it would get good...my mistake)...in terms of marketing, they did a good job here with this first trailer. If season 1 would've been great, people would be all about it because, again, on the surface this LOOKS like a great season. You can see the money on screen, many scenes seem exciting and well shot, even the dialogues chosen were pretty good imho BUT...that's the job of a good trailer (The two things I didn't like though were the slates (they looked cheap) and the 360 Avengers type shot). Will season 2 be good though? I really don't think so.
Please watch Loki season 1. I think you said you saw episode. Its totally worth it id love to hear your take on it knowing your only feedback is I hate the TVA lol

Not saying Amazon's adaptation would be worth watching, but there would be more material for incredible stories!

I managed to endure 15 minutes of the first episode of the first season. The twee writing & acting drove me to watch Ginger Snaps.
I.P., looks like Andy Serkis and Peter Jackson are heading there (of course, someone was bound to say it).
I couldn’t get past episode two of the first season.
i have watched both seasons of reacher,the wheel of time, the expanse,invincible plus many more book adaptations on amazon and every time they drop a show adaptation book sales go up even fallout saw a spike in people playing the games. thats probably what amazon cares about the most not quality very disappointed in rings of power will wait to watch. i already have the older books so they probably dont care what i think same for reacher and wheel of time so i wont be buying books any time soon to bad it was a must watch when they announced only to be disappointed

I haven’t watched this show yet. Maybe someday, just to see for myself, most likely with a nice scotch.
Watch the opening scene of the first episode and you can stop immediately after and you’ll have seen the only shot worth seeing. Trust me, anything after the 2 minute mark of the first episode is definitely worth a skip. There are a lot of great shows and films worth watching, this ain’t one of them

I’m just so unimpressed by this and feel no need to watch it. If I want Middle Earth I will go back to the movies or read the books again. Excited for House of the Dragon though.
How you were able to watch this trailer without wretching is a testament to your veteran watcher status. I'll be skipping this but will tune in to check your condition after it airs 🤣

James is right with his criticisms though, the show is absolute twaddle.
Looks great! as there are no books texts ftom the 2nd age, only the structure kind of, the storylines have to be invented. Soooo i go with it and have my fun😁
Maybe if PJ gave a trilogy movie treatment to the 2nd age? Not sure if that could be worthwile. There is an excellent mod for med 2 total war called Divide and Conquer. Its battles and city/castle management set in the Third Age. You have many factions and heroes leading armies. Mordor and Gondor Rohan Woodland Realm the High Elves,Harad and Ruhn, Dwarves of the blue mountains. There are at least 20 factions. The map is all of middle earth.

Oh dear god. I’m so sick of the negative tripe. The only cannon is the books - the films are not cannon entirely. With no rights to the Silmarillion how the hell do people think a story would get told? Very interesting that the “let’s crap on this from a great height” trolls are the first to react.
And for the record, I’ve read Tolkien’s work/ studied the canon multiple times since I first read LOTR nearly 50 years ago.

@@adriandenton6637 it really is tho, dude could only complain about the look of the ring. You have a problem with story when it comes to this show that’s one thing but it’s visually stunning. So just seems like he’s trying to find anything to complain about. You can’t watch a teaser and just say the story is bad. It’s hard to get a story from a min of footage.

@@adriandenton6637 that’s completely fine, I don’t like or dislike something as a whole personally, I recognize stuff I like and don’t, had a lot of problems with season 1 but I liked a lot of parts too. I’m not willing to risk possibly not seeing good lord of the ring content. But hey if people want to hate something they will .
I'm watching it. Season one looked amazing, I personally enjoyed it. Anytime someone is willing to spend over 100 million to take me back into Middle Earth I'm there.
