Absolutely the worst most lifeless demo of any piece of gear I have ever seen/heard. The beta lead is in my top 3 favorite amps. This demo shows nothing of what it can do. Oddly enough the beta lead has one of the best gritty clean tones out there.
That edit is awful. So many zoom ins, zoom outs, changing image every half second. Can't even see what I am looking for. From this demo I can just say - amp plays but this riff is not so good to check the amp. Should be some detailed test with twisting knobs etc.
I had the 212 sun beta lead.. with the V front… I always thought this amplifier looked cool as hell…! Unfortunately, regardless of how you adjusted it, the distortion sustain always ended up, sounding like a ( mic’ed up electric razor………🙄👀 )
The guitarist in the video is not truly utilizing the amp in the right way. I've owned for years & I can do more with mine than this guitarist does with his. The amp has untapped potential.
The mid-drive setting was super MUDDY played that low on the guitar. Would have been better I'm sure if he was playing that riff up an octave. Also, what's with the "300-watt" rating on the speaker cab when you use three 75-watt speakers. Yeah it would have been 300-watts power handling if you used 4 of them but you use 3 which equals, 225-watts, not 300...basic arithmetic.
Cool-looking rig but it sounds gawd-awful! The guitar is tuned low I assume. Tune it up to a full tone and set the amp to play channel one very clean and channel two up for some gain.
I feel sad to see this. I didn’t care much for the demo either, but to each their own. But I note the “DIGITAL C-MOS TECHNOLOGY” label on the front. This is indeed a generic class-d amp, not the analog output circuit of the originals Sunn amps. Why bother to resurrect the brand if you’re just selling the equivalent of a Behringer digital amp? I understand that they must be putting their effort into honing the tone of th eanalog preamps and letting an off-the-shelf digital power stage amplify the sound, but the classic sound of an old Sunn is the sold-state analog power amp.
You could have hired Steven Spielberg himself and it still wouldn't make this demo sound good. Hard to tell anything about the amp with hipster beard guy just playing some dirge for a couple of minutes. This ad should showcase the amp, not the fact that some guy from a band nobody's heard of strung four pretty common chords together.
@@Oyb730 What an arrogant assumption that I wouldn’t, based on a single comment made about a specific aspect of the visual identity of the amp. Way to be just another useless, snide reply and prove that anything design related goes completely over your head.
The whole demo was an L, speccy super-dorkus showing how many "heavy" extended chords he knows on an ugly ass nerd guitar. The tag line might as well have been "Sunn reissues-made for 30 year old virgins" 🤣🤣🤣
@@ClarkLamontBeediecurious, where’s your music? I imagine it’s levels above this gentleman’s? Oh and with an amazing guitar too. Always easier to criticize.
It's obvious the marketing mindset of Sunn management thinks we want to listen to doom and gloom tone. The guitar should have been jerked off the shoulder Mr. Thomas. What an absolute pathetic exhibition of the Sunn Beta amp. An exhibition of such drone tone portends to limit Sunn to a very narrow band of buyers. Inasmuch that I contributed to the Sunn startup, this has me concerned.
I'm genuinely interested what exactly the complaint by you and other comments is about here. This sounds like the perfect solid state metal tone before adding reverb. Just recorded dry in mono, without producing anything. It sounds pretty perfect for what it is. What did you actually expect to hear? Some blown up, overproduced sound turd like everyone else seems to be going for in metal context, or what?
@@Goth108 I mean, if you like a guitar tone that sounds like someone sent it through a plugin to take out half the sonics and make it sound like a distorted video game or something. I guess if I was Goth maybe it would work for me, but otherwise not so much. My guitar tone dry from the head without any reverb makes you cry it sounds so amazing. Peavey 5150-II and Mesa Mk7. If you like Sunn, go for it. And, no, I don't need a blown up overproduced sound turd. But if you think this Sunn sounds good -- I wish you luck getting anywhere with your music because you just heard a bunch of people say they won't like your tone. Cheers, @Goth108. @@jeffdibart9282 could you rephrase that entire response to be a little more self entitled, please? This doesn't sound self-absorbed enough for me just yet. ;) In all seriousness: when I put a microphone in front of a tube amp it sounds the same, dry and raspy. If I add room sound or reverb, not anymore. That's pretty normal, and I'm sure goes for your amp too. Tho maybe you use different microphone, then all the power to you.
@@Goth108 I guess you don't know what "self-absorbed" means. You made an assumption that I prefer a "produced" sound and I told you dry from my 5150 or Mk7 sounds amazing. Not sure what's self absorbed about that. And dry miked with an SM57 or MD421 into Pro Tools sounds way better than that Sunn sound. I don't need to have a flame war with you. So glad this company is back

Good to finally hear a demo!
make a demo of one please!
Now this is the kind of tones i expect in a Sunn demo! Thick and heavy!
I hope this means we'll get a demo of the bass amps soon!
Loving mine! I’ve been running it stereo with a vintage Peavey Musician Mark III and the 2 rigs sound killer together 🤘🏻
Thanks for making these again! Hate to see Sunn disappear. Make a Model T that doesn't cost almost 4k.
Well, the fact that the 100S and 200S are over 3k good luck with that one.
I think it sounds amazing, and I'm sad it's not available in Germany yet. Fine tho, I'll focus on tubes I can afford meanwhile. :)
That’s the sound I remember 👍
Good for 70's style of rock'n roll and definitely stoner and doom
when will then be now?
Will there be a combo version
edit: yes there will be
Are these going to go to dealers or only direct?
Cant wait for my beta!!
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

hope to see the eighties Cabs the ones with red and with. I love that eighties style more than tje vintages.
Damm Pretty nice ! Hope we get an Sunn 2000s Tube Bass head Series soon from you !
I'd be interested, but I happen to be located in Germany where you don't ship to.
THEY’RE WORKING ON IT!!!
WE’RE NOT INNTHE DAAAAAARK 😭😭😭
So the cab looks like ply…any more specs about construction or the speakers used?
Website says Baltic birch
The speakers are made for Sunn Eminence speakers with 75-watt handling power each (I stopped the video and read the info off the back of the speakers.
Can’t wait for this.
My old og beta lead sounds better. i would seriously die by turning the volume knob past 3 and the microphones will be blown away
Nice! Waiting for it
I wonder if the people saying it sounds bad know what kind of players use this amp?
Deaf ones. Deaf players use this amp.
We are those players.

IMO, poor design decision to make the whole sunn logo red. Looked so much better on the og version with the white wordmark and red symbol.
