Watching these insurance adjusters scamming has quickly become my new favorite passtime. Gotta say almost every video is also State Farm so that’s something to take note of. My grandparents had their own insurance company for many years and my grandma said a lot of their customers came from State Farm after having horrible experiences. Scamfarm is the term gma uses 😂
Your insurance agent will tell you not to worry, they will take care of everything. Then these adjusters show up and DENY DENY DENY, and explain how they aren't responsible for covering damage because of reasons you don't understand. Ask me how I know.
@@dc2979 Well, I can say that when an adjuster says "I can't advise you on coverage" is because they are only there to write an estimate on damages (in a CATastrophe situation) It's hard for adjusters because homeowners want answers and information. The hard truth is that your adjuster (depending on the company) cant tell you "Yeah we'll replace your roof." Because (Secret) if an adjuster tells you they will cover something, the company HAS TO COVER IT. There are stipulations. If the crew that put your roof on before a storm, did a shitty job, the INS co. IS NOT responsible because that is poor workmanship liable by the roofing company. A storm came through, the half assed job by the roofing company should have protected your home, but because of their negligence you ended up with a leaking home and damaged property. An insurance policy is not a get out of BS card. Choose your contractors wisely. Perhaps the issue is that homeowners fail to understand how insurance works. For example, if you replace your toilet, and the plumbing you put in place ruins your bathroom, thats YOUR fault and the insurance company is not required to cover it...that's not what insurance is for. All that being said, in the INS Industry, there is a stigma, that agents don't always do the best job. They want to sell you a policy and their success is contingent upon it. Your agent is responsible for your policy and the details therein. KNow your policy and know what you are buying and how it works. If I buy a new vacuum cleaner off of wish.com and it doesnt work, I cant blame wish, I was the one choosing the worst route and a risky source. Be careful.
I had a boat fire last summer they paid off with just pictures I sent them and never even came out to my house to look At the boat. They even paid me $1,200 to fix the damage. So it must be just a roof thing.
@@atheisticallysound Everyone would like their 20 plus year old replaced for mostly free. You and I know that isn't how insurance works. The roof here is done for. How much the insurance is responsible to cover is the huge question.
Independent adjusters have little to no authority. If the insurance company is slow, an independent adjuster situation could prolong the claim for months. Especially during major events when the phone adjusters for the insurance company are overwhelmed. Independent adjuster reports will take months before they are reviewed and if there is a question or dispute it will take even longer. At least company adjusters have authority and could theoretically settle on the spot of enough information is available. Just need a good insurance company.
@@gregsteed870 The problem is 9/10 times in-house they try every way to not pay out. They probably get a commission as a percentage of each claim they successfully deny.
@@gregsteed870 As an independent working cat claims for StateFarm and many other carriers, I was encouraged to settle on site during the initial inspection anything within my 25K authority. Beyond that limit I could usually have an approval within 24 hrs. The major problem with independent adjusters on large cat is that the majority have little to no experience. Ive been on so many deployments were I would ask other adjuster about there experience and so many have no construction knowledge and never even been on a ladder. Its too easy to become and idependent adjuster.
@@gregsteed870 Not true. I inspect and upload my report and estimate the same day. Staff adjusters usually have a stack of claims on their desk that get little to no attention because of the high work load that just follows you in the office enviroment. Independent adjusters do not slow the process down at all. I've been both a staff adjuster and now an independent adjuster and as a staff adjuster I looked forward to receiving the independent adjuster's report because the hard work was done for me and in most cases I could move them off my desk much quicker...and especially so during hurricane events. And your statement about the majority of independent adjusters on Cat claims have little to no experience is just plain uninformed. Good adjusting firms weed out the inexperienced adjusters pretty quickly. Perhaps the adjusting firm you worked for hired inexperienced adjusters but I find that to not be the case with the firms I run for. Yes, it is easy to get an adjuster license but much harder to be deployed if you have no experience. It can take 3 years to really get established as an adjuster because most adjusting firms will not consider you experienced enough to handle a large claim volume.
Both parties are supposed to use their own ladders. Since the roofer used the adjusters ladder he was telling him he had broken a known rule. What really happened here is the roofer was trying to switch the storm date from April to July. The adjuster said this had already been inspected. Meaning they had photos of all this damage way back in April but that would have been outside of 1 year to be able to file a claim for that date. So he was trying to use a new date that fell within the 1 year mark. Truthfully this roofer is unprofessional and is just your typical door knocker. The adjuster is also unprofessional. But this video is filmed in a bias way it doesn’t tell the whole truth.
@@pinkley22 No... What usually happens is the home owner either tells the insurance company the wrong date or the adjuster puts down the wrong date. Either way it can be changed as long as the date does not post date the inspection date. Nor was this 1 year after the date of the storm, thats totally made up. State Farm I deal with ALOT, lucky for me I know most of the adjusters since we do not chase storms and cover one state, but out of state adjusters do try this BS every single time. Oh.. fried shingle, 400 repairs? He here a repair estimate your shit out of luck. Then you gota waste time fighting it, finally get it do the roof then the owner drops State farm because they are corrupt as shit.
Haha well the Adjuster was still nicer than me. I'd have turned around and asked if he had his own ladder in the very beginning. I've heard of people being left on a roof, I mostly prefer everyone use their own ladders. I've let maybe 2 or 3 people use my ladders. That was after a good maybe 20 hours with each individual. The slope on this roof isn't too too bad, but I also make it clear I don't want people walking above or parallel to me. When a person starts falling natural instinct kicks in, and I dont want to be pulled off a roof or pull anyone off a roof.
The last one I watched the gentleman roofer had the hardest time with the insurance inspector about a nail. The gentleman done a great job not jumping.
Out of all these "adjuster tries to scam us" videos I've seen, every single one has been State Farm. You'd think after awhile they'd realize being shady is gonna lose them customers and they'll end up losing more money than if they'd just be honest and pay the claims like they should. If I've learned anything from all these videos, I'll never even ask for a quote from State Farm. I've had progressive for over a decade and they've been amazing both on my cars and my home. Had some hail come through last year. Didn't see any damage at first, but then had 3 contractors come over and take a look and they all found some damage totaling ~$4k-$5k worth of repairs. Progressive's adjuster came out and said "reside the whole house, reroof the whole house, replace both sheds, replace garage doors, replace the gutters, replace 4 windows, repaint the garage (1400sqft detached garage) and give the customer a week in a hotel". What we expected to be $4k turned into a $46k settlement off an $850/yr policy premium. THAT is how you make lifelong customers that'll recommend your company to everyone they can. State Farm's motto is "like a good neighbor, State Farm is there"... I'm starting to realize what State Farm thinks "good neighbor" means is "the local HOA president Karen who 'helps you out' by reporting every single violation she can find, refusing to uphold the HOA's end of the deal, and blaming you when the HOA maintenance guy backs into your car".
just dealt with a nightmare with progressive (15 year emerald policy holder), they dont do on sight adjustment and their stuff is so messed up, im moving to geico. they are really good.
I'm glad to hear you had a good experience. Some insureds will have a 400/yr premium on a Condo and get a 30k settlement from us and still be barking at us to upgrade the flooring. Like you been with us 2 years. We just paid for your premium for like the next 60+ years.
Yeah that was sketchy as fuck when he said that like bro nothing shady at all about recording unless you are up to no good. Just give them the fucking money to get the roof fix end of discussion
One thing that bothers me as an insurance adjuster, first and foremost in this case is how un educated this adjuster seems and how any video like this seems to be allstate or statefarm. But the real thing is this general air of "Don't trust adjusters or insurance companies." I can't speak for my company at large but I can tell you I do my best to record everything and make sure you get everything you are owed for your loss. One thing people don't understand is that adjusters get payed more for more damage reported. If your house is worth 300k and I report a TL. Then I get a percentage of what your policy covers on your loss. I'm not going to report that an unlivable home is fine, firstly when I know the insured has to live in it and secondly it behooves me morally and financially to be accurate. The idea that Adjusters are trying to scam you on behalf of the company is flat stupid, because I get paid more to replace your whole roof, underlaiment, felt, shingles boots, flashing etc than to just report 1 damaged square. This isn't adjusters being scammers, this is adjusters being undereducated and lazy. Remember that next time you have an adjuster. Granted a good adjusters job is to determine whether damage was caused from the reported loss. If you tell me your garage door was damaged in the tornado but I can see the damage existed in 2012 from google street view, I'm not putting that on the claim. Maybe I'm just one of the good ones. Granted I have caught insured homeowners trying to scam the company multiple times. This idea that the homeowner would never do such a thing is laughable too. I had one homeowner send in pictures of damage after Hurricane Laura, that were allegedly his home, but he had no clue that his iphone recorded the coords of where the pictures were taken MILES away. Kinda weird when you're like "Hey, this picture of your home shows ridge vents and....well your house doesnt have them.
I'm glad someone said it! I appreciate you bringing knowledge to the comment section. Sometime it's really just about how much you know! Besides that I'm hoping insurance companies will move away from hourly pay. Because component is were it's at! Thanks again!
@@ericrhodesbusiness Yeah. I mean component pay really does motivate an Adjuster to find damage. Hourly and day rate seems to inspire laziness, or a bare minimum attitude. Plus being W2 on a storm sucks. Lol I like my tax deductions.
@@rockyalliston1122 A lot of independent adjusters on fee are very detailed and thorough and seem to be more comprehensive than the day-rate cat adjusters, especially at the some of the carriers I won't name. Desk adjusters and staff field adjusters can go either way as well. I have good luck with a lot of people with great personality and work ethic, some absolute super star adjusters and supervisors. District managers of the highest and lowest caliber. Certain carriers, guidelines and people give adjusters a bad name but in general a very good group of folks. Also the newbies on cat claims cause some obvious issues.
The adjuster's are absolutely trying to short pay claims. Every major carrier has a set of internal guidelines they have to follow for estimating that specifically omits certain line items in the estimate. The adjuster's are then graded on whether or not they follow those guidelines. If they don't they are written up and fired. This prejudices their ability to fairly adjust each claim on their own individual merit. This type of "shady" practice is why people should never trust their insurance company. These videos also show how inept most of the adjuster's really are. They have little to no construction back ground and don't know how to actually repair anything, yet they are the same ones who think they are somehow qualified to determine if something is repairable. It would be like having a someone with no IT background or qualifications tell you that your computer cannot be fixed. Not to mention getting your adjusters license is a complete joke of a class and does not actually train or ensure anyone is qualified to do the job.
"It's not storm damage right" Yeah I ain't telling you a thing. You give your report and I have my own evidence that you are full of it. I am not telling you. Guy wants the roofer to agree and he just keeps his cool. Good videos buddy
Yep they do know their shit most of the time but that's not the problem. The problem is that they turn around and lie on their report for the insurance companies so that they don't pay out. In turn the insurance companies keep calling them and giving them kickbacks. But when they are recorded if they lie on the report they can get charged and potentially go to prison for lying on an insurance report which is considered insurance fraud.
This roof clearly has MASSIVE wind damage. Definitely a bona fide claim. So sad to see Scam Farm try to wiggle out of their responsibility to their customer. Don't see what the problem is with recording - you're on the customer's property and they want a record of what happened from the roofer. The roofer didn't even show the Scam Farm adjuster's face.
He did convince a homeowner to file a claim on a storm in April but is trying to pass storm damage in July off as evidence. That’s fraudulent. Then trying to make someone else out as a scammer. It’s wild

I'd have to go back and re-watch. I only remember him mentioning one hole and I think he said it was soft and there was no felt. There didn't appear to be any reason to believe that it was caused by storm damage, I didn't see a close up on it or anything. From a spectator role, kinda is hard to tell. Regardless. With all the wind damage shingles on the slope, I'd probably try to push for it being "storm related" so I could slope out the side. Considering they didn't go to the other slope, it almost looks like the wind damage was isolated to the one side. Would love to see a full home inspection to see if any siding was damaged.
Never dealt with a roofer that didn't bring it up. How to save on deductible or eliminate it. If you are a roofer in business and say you cannot help eliminate the deductible.....You will not be in business long if you tell a homeowner it is against the law.
If the guy is that worried about a simple recording, Im betting he is the one who does the scams, like under reporting the loss to the insurance company which is what they hire guys like this to do.
It’s just common courtesy to let someone know you are filming them. I wouldn’t let someone film me. It’s my preference. It’s not a matter of trying to hide something or being shady.
@@redcell9636 you’re missing my point. I’m not saying he can’t record. I’m saying he shouldn’t. Of course I can’t stop anyone from doing what they want to do, but I don’t have to stay there and be subjected to it. Also, you are seriously misinformed if you think adjusters get some type of incentive to under report (your words) a loss.

NOTHING shady about home owner recording it. I have done same when i had roof damage that the adjuster lied about. I won my case and got a full roof replacement after letting the insurance company know i gave the recording to may attorney to submit as an exhibit.
Don't step on ridge. You don't know if it's a truss roof with no ridge board running between your rafters or stick-built roof that has a ridge-board. That, and you don't want to crease, bend, fold, crack or otherwise damage your ridge-cap.
I have been with State Farm for over 30 years, i have know my Agent longer, went to him when i needed help and have been with him ever since even though i don't live in the same city i grew up in.
Anytime i see a patch job, I run... plenty of work out there insurance loves seeing repairs... homeowner should have fought harder the first time. Not to mention your date of loss was before the "tornado".
Unfortunantly steel roofs are susceptible to hail damage, at least cosmetically. And clients expect insurance companies to pay for cosmetic damage, so they would just be in a similar boat. A high wind rating such as class g of h and a hail rating of class 4 would be the better alternative. Something like synthetic composite if you want longevity. Or and hear me out... homeowners can actually replace their roofs when they need it and not let them deteriorate to the point a slight breeze will break them. Plus stop buying 3 tab shingles, their trash.
I don't get it , tar paper roofs.. and then needing insurance because they are damaged?? IF the insurance was fair up front , they would simply say "Your roof material is shitty tar paper, i'm not insuring it, get a real roof" but obviously they want the money , greed. knowing full well they won't pay out any claim.

Bullshit. Adjusters get paid more the bigger the claim. They have every incentive to find all covered damage but they have guidelines they have to follow as well.
No, they don't get bonuses. Adjusters for insurance companies get salary. Independent Adjusters get paid based on how much they write for and when they deny for prior damage, prior workmanship issues, etc, they get paid less for being honest. There is a lot of contractor fraud out there as well and many of them just so happen to hold a camera filming what they want people to see
These adjusters for insurance companies like St Farm and progressive are trained to spend most of their time looking for any reassign they can to lessen the settlement. They then make a cut of the money they save the company.
I think that it's funny every time one of these adjusters is caught getting filmed they leave. Not only that on his way off he walked all over the ridgvent creating damage as the nails pull out. They may not pull out far but it will create a problem in the future. Your not suppose to walk on the ridgvents bud, I install tones of new ridgvents a year for what I do and i would never allow that to happen. I think the insurance world are the shady ones. People pay all these premiums on time and still get denied when they need to use it and to that I say ridiculous. Also if he was doing his job right and on the up and up he wouldn't have to worrie about saying something he wasn't suppose to on camera.
Oh yeah. Just the sound of it and seeing how the Adjuster was walking on it gave me anxiety. But I know people really stand by their athletic footwear, I've just never had a good experience on roofs with them.

That inspector, has 0% idea what he is talking about, but he talks about it with the authority of a seasoned veteran. I doubt he has ever put shingles on any structure, but he talks with the confidence of a roofer about to retire. That is an issue.
Insurance companies need to be reined in under federal law. There's no point in having insurance when they find any reason to not cover a loss. Why even have it then?
*Massive visual wind damage* Adjuster: "What happened here???" *hawkeye vision for smallest damage possible while also Stevie Wondering the massive wind damage*
If ther was that much wind damage then the debris that was flying caused damage for sure. The only time i ever have any luck with an adjusters is when ther independent and i think it should be a 3rd neutral party who decides not an employee of the insurance company
Wonder what the life span is of these adjusters walking around on a roof and taking photos. Like a good neighbor...State Farm is there (then gone after being video'd). If it comes down to money who can you trust? If they can find anything that was there preceding the actual damage they will use that to deny. Perfection doesn't exist except at State Farm.

Based on your conversation, I’m guessing there were 2 storms. The initial storm in April that caused some damage, and then the tornado caused additional damage. If that’s the case, it should be 2 claims. If all that damage was actually from one storm, at least that left slope deserves replacement even though there’s some prior repairs.
Which shingles were damaged in April and which shingles were damaged in June? No one knows unless a inspection was completed for April storm damage before the June storm. I guess the storms left a date stamp.

Had to call Allstate for roof damage after a storm. The adjuster had some boots he glued and strapped thick foam rubber to the soles just for walking on roofs. A few checks and photos then he measured the roof and came down and inspected all of my windows and window screens for hail damage also. He said people forget about them all the time. He told me about all the damage and more that I couldn’t even see. He said he would get this taken care of quickly and that a check would be in the mail unless my agent brought it personally. I’ve been with Allstate for 17 years for my home insurance and at least 23 for my car insurance. They’ve been great anytime I’ve had a claim.
Not knowing the details of this issue, I cant say I blame the adjuster. Who wants to be recorded, especially when trying to figure out what to do with an insurance claim. I find in life, you get a lot farther with honey than with vinegar.

My parents have state farm. Their house was built in 1987 and still had the original roof. In 2021 that filed a claim for a new roof, it was denied twice after the adjuster came out, but luckily they had a good agent for state farm who was able to make it happen. They have had that house since 1996 and have paid over $50,000 in home owners insurance, never having filed a claim. It was the biggest headache and one of the other things they do is they will only give the home owners half the amount and they paid the company the other half directly. They clearly do this so home owners don't just pocket addition money by getting the work done for less then estimates, but WHO CARES. If they roof need replacing and they know the cost then the insurance companies are out the money anyways. They would rather pay more because of higher estimates when paying companies directly than the home owners pocketing a small (or substantial in some cases) difference. Even if the home owner pocketed the entire thing and never got it done, oh well. They did their part and paid it out, now it's the homes owners problem.
The homeowner can, they just need to get their contractors license. And that is actually not that hard. All I had to do was spend $100 on a guaranteed to pass test and $45 to my state licensing board.

Be careful.
I had a boat fire last summer they paid off with just pictures I sent them and never even came out to my house to look
At the boat. They even paid me $1,200 to fix the damage. So it must be just a roof thing.
It all depends on adjuster.
@@atheisticallysound Everyone would like their 20 plus year old replaced for mostly free. You and I know that isn't how insurance works. The roof here is done for. How much the insurance is responsible to cover is the huge question.
This process goes alot smoother with independent adjusters. In house adjusters don't pay squat
He goes “YouRE on my ladder” like that means oh sorry I’m not letting you off the roof since you caught me trying to scam 😂😂
@@pinkley22 where you get the information on the dates? From the video it wasn't conclusive as there was no proof for either party.
@@asfowenn he made that shit up lmao

They're helpful in case you ever have to deal with insurance for a house claim. They can be scummy.
The last one I watched the gentleman roofer had the hardest time with the insurance inspector about a nail. The gentleman done a great job not jumping.
I watched that one too.
Fuckin Jeff
An insurance adjuster for State Farm, calling someone else "shady".
🤣🤣🤣🤣

These adjuster videos are the best!!!
The definition of shady is being scared of a camera!!!!
But the real thing is this general air of "Don't trust adjusters or insurance companies."
I can't speak for my company at large but I can tell you I do my best to record everything and make sure you get everything you are owed for your loss.
Great points but not valid for adjuster on day rate. And there are a lot of them.
@@ericrhodesbusiness Yeah. I mean component pay really does motivate an Adjuster to find damage.
Hourly and day rate seems to inspire laziness, or a bare minimum attitude.
Plus being W2 on a storm sucks. Lol
I like my tax deductions.
Insurance company - Do you like fucking people over ? Job applicant - Yes. Insurance company - You are hired.
I want to know if he tried or successfully pulled the ladder away before letting you off the roof.
"It's not storm damage right"
Yeah I ain't telling you a thing. You give your report and I have my own evidence that you are full of it. I am not telling you. Guy wants the roofer to agree and he just keeps his cool. Good videos buddy
Honestly. The adjuster seems legit. He knew his shit.
There is NO problem with the home owner recording it other than that adjuster being worried his lies will get him in trouble.

When Raiden inspects your roof. Abd realizes he's being filmed
How does he figure holes in the roof were not caused by the storm? Does he not think wind from the storm blew something into the roof?
Right? That was my first thought.
I got my roof done couple months back and these guys know how to work it even covered my deductible zero out of pocket $17000 roof 😀
Well just to let you know… It’s illegal for a roofing company to cover or help you avoid your deductible…
Never dealt with a roofer that didn't bring it up. How to save on deductible or eliminate it. If you are a roofer in business and say you cannot help eliminate the deductible.....You will not be in business long if you tell a homeowner it is against the law.
You have to understand they don't want to pay you nothing no matter how long you been paying them. It's business they don't care
If the guy is that worried about a simple recording, Im betting he is the one who does the scams, like under reporting the loss to the insurance company which is what they hire guys like this to do.

Simple solution - get a 24ga metal roof properly installed and never have roof concerns again unless the entire roof blows off
Unfortunantly steel roofs are susceptible to hail damage, at least cosmetically.

Yeah they get commission based on denial, That can be a shit show though. These waste of space are actively encouraged by upper management not to pay out or pay as little as possible.
Remember, insurance companies do not want to pay for anything. These adjusters have one job, deny deny deduct.
Can someone who knows what the angle of all of these videos is? What is the endgame of this inspection?
For a claim to repair?
For a claim to re-roof?
I need an answer!!!!! Did he take the ladder or not or what happened lol
Thats a beautiful property
Not knowing the details of this issue, I cant say I blame the adjuster. Who wants to be recorded, especially when trying to figure out what to do with an insurance claim.
I find in life, you get a lot farther with honey than with vinegar.
And in real life, if you don't cover your ass, statefarm probably won't pay. Honeys great, but insurance for your insurance is better.
@@kakuzu12345 spoken like a pro!
When dealing with thousands of dollars and it’s your own company. Trust me when I say it’s very vital to record every claim like this fellow and every gallon of gas you put in your vehicles. If you don’t have records for your company keeping track of your spendings and claims then your setting yourself up to have a difficult time if not. Failure
Did he try to pull the ladder down before you were off the roof?
What kinda boots do you use
How have I just found these adjuster scams?
That roof looks old AF and has seen better days. What's the problem here?
We are thinking about switching toState Farm. Is this normal for them?
I'm in the construction industry recording interactions isnt shady i use it to take not of issues in the work or dishonest inspectors but haven't had any yet... sound advice is to record all interactions with inspectors ect... best investment I've made was a simple body cam
Wooow State farm adjuster and State farm are scammers. They don't like to be recorded because they be lying on their claim. Smh now I know who to watch out for. Since I just started as a sales roofing guy.
Sort of unrelated but why are most homes pointed and slanted rather than with a flat roof?
That roof is toast, I would have pulled up and known from the ground that the roof was being replaced.
bunch of insurance scammers... hope for more videos exposing this trash
Don't worry they will try to get out of paying claims to the point you will have to hire lawyer.. They are not your friend..
State Farm is like the progressive of car insurance
Sadly it used to be Allstate that had the reputation for denying everything.
I have a genuine question, is this becoming a bigger issue or has it always been and people just atarted recording it?
Is this in Andover KS?
Ladder isn't 3ft above gutter. Osha violation
Good old SF….always making excuses for storm damage. They must have installed with golf shoes on! 😂
I’m 8-0 against State Farm on appraisals the last 18 months.
What happened 19 months ago 😂
When dealing with insurance companies it’s good to get a lawyer. They are in the business of money in and no money out. I know of plenty of ppl where it’s almost like insurance companies don’t pay and see what they can get away with.
2023 and the adjuster using a 2007 digital camera?
Contractor is shady he’s definitely looking for anything to get more money I woulda left the meeting as well
What is the scam? I'm not a home owner or a roofer. Just interested.
If in fact no felt was installed then it would dry the shingles out and make them fail
One of the reasons that he may have been upset that you were recording him without letting him know was because walking on a roof without proper safety equipment is an OSHA violation and if you have it recorded it's hard to say it didn't happen. He could face a fine or be fired from his job
Who fault is dat?
He is probably an independent adjuster. IN that scenario, OSHA does not apply, as he is the employer/owner, not an employee...
