DJI Mini 3 Pro - Which combo/package to buy // Fly more kit? Smart Controller compatibility

- Which kit, combo or package to get with the Mini 3 Pro. This time is different because normally you want the fly more kit for the extra battery and ND filters. But with the Mini 3 Pro, DJI isn't including ND filters in the fly more kits.
That means you could just order the drone with whichever controller you want, then buy 1 extra battery and the ND filter package separately.
You really want a second battery no matter what, just trust me please.
You will need ND filters if you want to get pro footage or go down that path later on.
Those two are the only essentials.
The Smart Controller that comes with the Mini 3 Pro is called the DJI RC. This is not the same as the big black one that comes with the Mavic 3 Cine (DJI RC PRO) but I STRONGLY recommend especially since its not much more for that package.
This one is only compatible with the DJI Mini 3 Pro (RIGHT NOW)
When I was testing this drone before launch for DJI and I was using the beta version of the controller, it let me connect to Air 2S or Mavic 3, no clue why that was.
Maybe they were testing the feature, maybe it was just because I had the prototype software/controller and it isn't a feature that works very well.
I'm hopeful (like we all are) that they add compatability for the Air 2S at least becuase that would be awesome.
Right now only the DJI RC PRO smart controller can control the Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Cine, and Air 2S.

Using a Tablet with the Mavic 2Pro has spoiled me.The tablet gives me lots of options such as Adobe Rush for post,access to notams and weather conditions, besides the DJI app,and I will use the tablet with the Mini 3 as well.Can't beat a 10 " screen! For me,the controller with the screen is a non-starter.
My mini 3 will accompany me with the Mavic 2Pro and tablet, enabling me to fly in areas I cannot access with an RPAS over 250gm.
Ill have to agree, but in my case its just a 6.8inch flagship phone. its much faster than the DJI controller screens, screen is larger, better, and it has internet connection without additional hassle. for me the screen controllers are a non starter as well with mavics. i do have a screen controller but thats with the phantom RTK, so a bit different.
Thanks for explaining the difference in controllers! I have an Air 2s and really wish I had the remote, but can’t justify $1200 for the rc pro. I really hope they offer this cheaper remote with Air 2s compatibility soon.

What is the point of loading apps like Firefox on the controller? I understand the need to ND filters, but are polarizers worth getting for a drone? I know they can do funky things to the sky on wide angle lenses.

I definitely don’t have to charge it as often as my drones batteries, so 1 hour is easily done.
I do know on anything if you have full brightness it will burn the battery faster just like on a phone. Most of your iPhone and MacBook battery is being spent on the screen brightness, I always forget to turn it down sometimes

If you were going to get a fly note kit, would you recommend the regular or plus version? I intend to register my drone either way since it doesn’t sound hard, but I was curious if the extra flight time on the better batteries was worth it. I am only flying recreational.
I ordered the Mini 3 PRO RC and I got the combo kit with the regular battery sizes. I figured I’d go all in. 🤣

One thing he did not talk about was the fly more plus combo that has two extended batteries
2 Batteries and a charger. It's so convenient to drop all the batteries in the charger and forget about it, compared to charging one battery at a time. I think the Fly More combo is totally worth it even without the ND filters
I've been waiting for ages for a mini 3 range test and you just drop the bomb 12km no issues lol..
I'm curious if there is any range gains using the non smart version since it has no visible antennas.
I'm also going to miss apps like air uav on the the same device uploading my flight data as it pops up

This controller is such a great thing, however incompatibility of those two controllers with other drones makes it a very difficult decision next to their price. Not sure why they do not make those controllers compatible with every drone they offer so we can buy it and use it many years ahead.
I would like to buy the mini 3 as a little sister for my Mavic 3 but I hope, DJI makes the RC Pro compatible.
There's been a buzz about the range of the new smart controller being terrible. What is your opinion on it and should I consider buying the standard controller?

Does the Mini 3 Hyperlapse function takes RAW photos every 2 seconds as the Air 2s, or 5 seconds as the Air 2?

I feel as though it isn't really hard to be able to load different software onto the RC controller, just modify/put an OS you want on it, tweak some settings and boom there u go, could be harder than that if they really don't want you modifying the software but yea, it's a computer at the end of the day.

Does the USB-C port allow for video transmission to a separate display screen, like a TV? Possibly with a USB-C to HDMI cable attached? I can’t find this information anywhere. Please help, thanks
looking for an upgrade from the Mavic Mini. should I go Mini 2 Fly More, or Mini 3 Pro with one extra battery?
DJI does give in to our demands soemtimes so it could be possible that the RC pro will be compatible with more drones later on.
It’s an extra $180 more, in Australia, if you want to get the Mini 3 Pro RC and not the RC-N1.
Are the batteries for the mini 3 the same ones as the mini 2?

Helpful review. It's not clear to me the difference between the Mini 3 Pro Fly More Kit and the "Plus" kit.
Hey mate, looks like the only difference are the batteries included. The plus has the higher capacity ones while the regular kit includes the standard batteries.

@@elvisbest3213 He actually like the DJI RC controller. He just doesn't think the fly more combo is a must have and I'm ok with that but since I want at least one/two extra battery and the power bank so I went ahead and order the the combo and get the carrying case for free.

Since I want tot use the DJI Mini 3 on multiple day hikes, weight in crucial. So... what's the weight of the DJI RC Controller? If it's like 200g extra compared to the "normal" one it's a dealbreaker for me.
Almost exactly the same weight, 350ish grams for both. Honestly right now the regular RC-N1 remote feels heavier

The only problem i have with the mini 3, is the price in the EU vs US (although its probably not just this drone). The mini 3 pro with the smart controller costs 1070 vs 909. And the combo kit 207 vs 189... The plus one isn't even available, but that's probably rules.

Keep the MINI2 and buy the battery harness that allows you to use the Mini3 47 minute battery with your Mini2 Just mount the battery on top of your Mini2.

I safed the 200 bucks and will use my mobile phone has better brightness than the RC to me no reason to go for the RC. If i would be a pro or semi pro i would go for the rc but in this case its just a hobby.
Completely disagree. Id take an iphone pro max every time over screen controller. Far brighter and bigger screen to look at.
