    Konami's business model with all their rhythm games is centered around japan arcades. They don't really care or try with anything outside it. All their pc ports are jank and you're better off downloading illegal arcade hdd rips, their controllers suck and you're better off with gamo2, yuancon, or stepmaniax/ltek depending on the game.
    Ontop of all that konami is extremely aggressive with copyrighting every little feature in their games and sueing everyone who makes anything remotely similar to a rhythm game which ends up hurting the genre as a whole. Rip ITG.

    Konami was already pretty high on my shit list with them killing off my favorite game francise Silent Hill. I kept an ok view of them due to how good bemani and their games tend to be. That view is slowly being tarnished.

      Reminds me of what game critic Yahtzee Croshaw said: "It's sad that Konami turned evil; it's doubly sad that they're so fucking bad at it.". I have no idea what merit there is to fucking up the way Konami has for the past few years, besides a company suicide any% WR. Usually game companies get lazy and pump out inferior content that's AT LEAST up to a company standard, but Konami seems to have an active disdain for its consumers now.

    The Alpha does work with the LTEK, so I'm not sure why someone would spend $200 on a trash bag with sensors in it when they're half way to buying the bar kit, or a third of the way if you don't care about the bar. But it felt good (and demoralizing after PFCing songs on SM) to feel those arcade timing windows again.

    • @snil4
      @snil4 3 года назад

      For us we can't understand but in Japan companies like Konami and Sega are tightly controlling the rhythm games market, so much that Konami are probably the only japanese company that produces dance games and there are stories that Konami paid Sega to not put pump it up in their arcades. Also L-tek don't really do shipping to Asia and owning a private arcade cab is a gray area there.

    Konami really knows how to make great games that are extremely inaccessible. I'm just getting back into DDR, and the last version I played was extreme. The amount of research I'm having to do is insane. I feel like a complete fucking noob trying to figure all of this shit out with e amusement and wondering how to hell to play specific songs because I'm not seeing them in the DDR A arcade. Seriously, what the actual fuck is this secret society bullshit? Why should I have to go on a Japanese website with little to no English to pay a subscription service just to edit the fucking opacity of the background and change the fucking character? I can do difficulty 15-16 songs, and yet I feel like I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing or looking at when I'm trying to figure out the interface of DDR A. And it seems impossible to find straight forward resources on how to do any of this shit. It's absolute fucking lunacy.

      I share your pain as a IIDX player. My advice is, either run HDD rips or Stepmania (especially with ITG windows through Outfox or by using the Simply Love theme). I am biased because I love ITG but there's a legit community around making ITG maps, and I do tend to believe they are superior to many of the maps Konami shits out for DDR. If you're playing DDR 15/16s you will find a lot to love in ITG FA charts, around the difficulty 10 mark.

    Been playing DDRA20 for the past year and just recently A20 plus arcade HDD dump on my pc at home. There is no chance I’m paying a monthly sub for this game let me buy it outright, I’ll gladly pay for unlimited access and additional $ for potential future upgrades. But the port needs to be flawless, so far spice tools + hdd rip has been working wonders for me on private hosted servers with their own leaderboards. Also it’s nice to see most of the high scores being 999xxx and not full pages of 1M’s from chris4life (not hating at all btw ur solid) clogging every song.

    Here's my thought's & prediciton, at least from this Alpha Release:
    - The dance pad they sell from Konami Style is too expensive & kinda worthless. The material is same just like PS2 mat version, or even cheap & bootleg pad being sold on some online shops. Only worth if you wanna have a unique design for the mat & have bluetooth capability for the pad. Which is not recommended for using bluetooth if you want a full experience, because usually bluetooth control is sluggish in rhythm game.
    - Big possibility, when the final release for PC ver or it's called "Konaste" version for now, it will be a paid service in order to play it. Just like IIDX Infinitas, SDVX for Konaste, etc. But I can't exactly sure how's the price per month will be, until the official statement release by Konami. (Hopefully won't be that expensive if Konami wants to apply subscription system, because I know everyone might gonna say exactly the same sentence like this video title does)
    - This might also a bad news to play, you need Japan Region Konami ID previously to play Konaste ver. because subscription reason. But fortunately, as of today, outside Japan's Credit Card is now accepted except if it's Amex. Just use Visa or Mastercard or JCB for this case and it should be solved for good.
    - If we see on other bemani games exist in Konaste for now, at least SDVX are linked with the arcade ver so if you play it on arcade with same e-amusement and have score recorded for the songs you've played, it will be synced on Konaste too & vice versa. This might be happen on DDR Konaste too when final release but IT'S STILL NOT CONFIRMED for this case until we see the final release & being explained by Konami itself at a later & unknown date. (Personally I hope this is implemented for real because seamless experience like this might helping me at least to carry my own data into 1 & unified and able to play it anywhere.)
    That's for now.

    It's way too soon to be certain because Konami is Konami, but it's important to note the USB connection thing. Personally, I think the only people this would interest are the only people they expect to target with this: Diehard collectors of DDR/Bemani merch.
