Looks like he didn't alter his body position when cornering in order to reduce lean angle. Both cheeks stayed on the seat and his arms remained straight. So the tires were on the edge. Then at mid corner/full lean he used too much gas trying to accelerate out and the rear tire slid out from under him. It doesn't take much. Numerous tire and suspension factors could have also been working against him.

If you’re the guy who’s way faster riding behind a friend or whoever the guy in front feels that pressure, he’s looking in his mirror not focusing. If you’re the faster rider don’t pressure the dude in front, chill in the corners, you’ll end up right behind him again. It’s your job to let him enjoy his ride, or just get ahead.. I still ride occasionally, but it’s something Ive always adhered to. It’s so important. The slower rider should always ride behind and focus on himself. Never try to keep up with the faster rider. It’s stupid and an ego thing, and that’s when people die.

Or he could go slower. If you're needing to use body position on the street then that's a good sign that those speeds are more appropriate for the track. Going fast on the street is like picking up pennies in front of a steamroller. Not going fast on the street is the most valuable lesson of all.

@@sick_s1k 34F and 36R cold pressure for the street is fine. Drop it by 4 psi front and back for track days... unless you are using race slicks and tire warmers and then you need to talk to the Dunlop or Pirelli guy at the track and see what they recommend for your setup.
Also, LEAVE THE ELECTRONICS ON. ABS and traction control will save your bacon on the street. If rider aids are good enough for the likes of Rossi, then they are absolutely a benefit to us mere mortals.
Last track day at Road A, there was this hot shot on an S1kRR in Novice. He was squirrely, had shit lines, was waving his arms and looked like a road rager. He went to the control rider and demanded to be bumped to intermediate, saying he was faster than everyone and deserved to be there. Meanwhile, he wasn't faster.
They did an evaluation, had him follow the instructor for a few laps, and then the instructor followed him. He didn't even get in a lap and he highsided himself to the moon in turn 12... And he had lots of heat in the tires, it was 96 degrees and he had already done several laps.
Lesson is, BMW spent millions on R&D, racing teams, test riders and engineers to come up with these systems. Use them. They are better than me, you, Max and anyone reading this.
      Good luck!

people going on and on with that weird jokes that sticker sealed the faith, dude went there to ride, and rode above his skills, you only push on closed track what is clean and even temp, not some on and off temp in shades etc, dirt on road, and lean angle was already too much.
Ride your own ride, chill and enjoy. Alot of people dont setup their bikes properly and going balls deep and try to follow.

I believe it was target fixation! He looked at the jeep as he came around the corner and it spooked him so he laid it down as he started going wide. Had he stayed looking through his corner I do not believe he would have crashed.
