You dont get 840 hp without the race pcm, with 100+ octane fuel, and the engine at 6300 rpm. We have to remember that yoy dont get the rated hp number unless the engine is at the peak hp number. Yoy can't get 840 hp at 2000 rpm or other rpm numbers when driving regularly.
Regardless of whether or not it is one trick pony, the fact that Dodge actually went ahead and made it, while the majority of car manufacturers are downsizing and turbo charging their engines and adding hybrid powertrains to their vehicles, should be celebrated.

Dodge Challenger is designed to look like an early 1970's American muscle car not a modern high tech wonder like the Toyota Prius or any Euro-weenie car.
They built it out of a mixture of different company parts . Mercedes parts especially . That rear diff sure needs looking at . seen enough of those come into our dealer with grenaded aluminum housings . Lots of thought there !
Aside from the collectibility you can easily modify a Hellcat to over 1,000hp for quite a bit less than the Demon. But it won’t be worth what the Demon will down the road either.

He says it’s too light, fun fact that the weight helps it do 0-60. Less weight would slow the car down. It can launch insanely fast because it throws 4000+ on to a set of slicks so it can throw all 770 pound into them right off the line.
Dodge can’t legally put a roll cage into the car. In the US, you can’t put something in the interior of a car that is solid. If dodge wanted to make it street legal, which did, they couldn’t put a roll cage in it.

The Demon only puts out 840hp with the other PCM and goodies, race fuel, tuning, etc.. No one is pulling away from the dealership with a car doing anything near those numbers (power or speed) and very few reviewers are mentioning that. My understanding is the power numbers as the dealership sells the car to you are in the mid-700s (at the crank). "The Drive" recently had a Hellcat and Demon on the dyno and only found a 34hp difference. 670hp on the Hellcat and 704hp on the Demon. The lighter car weighed nearly 4,500 pounds without a driver. Then, there's the prices you mention. I certainly can't speak about every area of the world but here in Florida two "$63K" Hellcats can be found at my local dealership. One stickers for $96K the other for $98K. They don't have a "$85K" Demon on the floor but when I inquired about the cost the salesman told me they would be asking around $125-135K when they got one in. Then you mentioned (more than once) that a simple pulley and tune would net you 200 or more horsepower. I don't know if you only recently awakened from a coma but that is pure crap. Maybe on a car making north of 1,500hp a pulley and tune can get you those kind of gains but not on a Hellcat. I've got a 2010 Z06 with a Hennessey supercharger (re-branded Edelbrock E-Force) and a smaller pulley and re-tune on the dyno netted me about 27hp. That's just three quick things from this video. All that said, I do like your vids (for the long list of very cool cars you access) and you seem like a nice enough chap. I hope you consider this a bit of constructive criticism from a viewer.

They are marked up to 6 digit pricing with dealer markups. The 1/4 mile and 0-60 mile performance stats are on a prepped track with drag radial tires running 100 octane fuel too. I would love to see REAL WORLD numbers on this car with street tires and 93 octane fuel on long, straight back road.

I think your points are pretty fair. The one thing about the roll cage though is they make the back seat and passenger seat $1 options (unless the changed that idea?) so you could add one, though if that's the case, they could/should offer a certified roll cage. But you touched on that a little. Also, I agree that you can throw stuff on a hell cat, or even an sxt, to look the part. I'm a huge challenger fan, but most people I point hell cats to don't know the difference, and I come off as d-basket. Solid video, and super jealous you got to drive it!
Biggest problem with a demon is you can’t find one, and if you do it’s marked up like crazy. Hellcats and Z06’s have gone past being marked up and are now sitting on lots
