There was a big range of ages in the competition.
Yes she is the youngest winner of NGT. Started at 7 years old and finished at 8 years old. In an interview a judge said they thought she might have been a fluke or imitator. Then she directed the guitarist on how she wanted him to play and they realized she was the real deal. Pitch perfect with raw emotion and soul at this age. Unbelievable.
All covers but she does her own arrangements.
Noticeable progression from 1 song to the next. Of 10 finalists she won with 46% of the votes.
They apparently don't consider this show as part of the "Got Talent" franchise as the person credited as the youngest from those shows is a few years older.
I am positive that everyone on that show and in Norway knew who was going to win.
The first 2 were Billie Holiday songs, 3rd was Nancy Sinatra, and the final was George Gershwin's "Summertime"
To fully appreciate how good Angelina did you should listen to Billie Holiday sing those songs.
The funniest thing about it is AJ dressed like goin' to Easter Sunday Service and then she opens her mouth to sing and this vampy, torch singer burns the roof off. I mean, what is happening??? Me no understand.

Thank you for reacting on these performances Shon and yes her style goes back to the noir film era which was in the 40's and 50's. Angelina appreciates this era more so that she wants to bring it back.
To answer your question, at that time she was the youngest winner in NGT history.
This are as my dear co-commenter Rick told, covers. Her fist songs, she wrote around the age of 11. "What is live" and "Oslo" are of her earliest originals.
A month after winning, NRK (norwegian national TV) invited her to sing at an annual festival near the swedesh boarder. She sang "What a difference a day makes" in the voice of Dinah Washington. If you close your eyes, you can not find the difference between an 8 years old AJ and a 35 year old Dinah.
As norwegians told us on YT, a few weeks later Miss Angelina Jordan Astar was declared THE NATIONAL TREASURE OF NORWAY by king and country. That means, she was now a noble woman in Scandinavia, AT AGE EIGHT!!!!

Billie Holiday dropped Gloomy Sunday in 1941. Billie Holiday is one of the greatest singers in American history in my opinion.
I’ve learned so much from following Angelina. It is amazing to me that it took a 7 year old Norwegian girl/ singer to wake me up to American history. Angelina is more than a star, she brings light, joy and hope with every move she makes.

Bang Bang was written by Sonny Bono and was a hit for Cher. This version of the song was made popular in Europe by Nancy Sinatra.

Most are not familiar with Billie Holiday or these first two songs. Anyone can see they're good but when compared to Billie's version you see just how incredible she's doing these. The judges knew and were blown away. One of the judges told her, "You ARE music". Yes, these are in order in the competition. The first one got everyone's attention. The second one, In my opinion, sealed the deal. What 7 year old can do that?? I do believe she was the youngest winner of NGT. She is also the youngest book author in Norway with her book about why she doesn't wear shoes when performing in public. Her 3rd and 4th songs were the icing on the cake as she demonstrated her vocal skills and emotional presentation variety. She won this singing jazz and blues. That's her foundational skills. Self taught from her recorded mentors of Billie, Ella, Etta, Louis, Frank, Elvis, Amy, Adele, and many others. She was aware of her talent early on and begged her mom to let her compete on NGT years before but was too young until that year. And she stated then her dream is to be a superstar. She is well on her way and we are getting the back story ahead of time.

Besides being a wonderful, a once in a lifetime singer who touches your heart when she sings 'for you', along the way you will find out what a wonderful human being she is, as well. Oh, she donated all her winnings that she received to children's charities. Shon, I know you just started with Angelina and the more you hear her sing (she's now 17) and find out more about her you will be hooked like the rest of us all around the world and, you know what? We love every minute of it.
When Angelina first auditioned for NGT at 7, the song she selected was 'Gloomy
Sunday', originally sung by Billie Holiday. Now, I was totally familiar with the song ,
for I have been a fan of Billie for years. If you compare Angelina's rendition to
Billie when I believe she was 29, you will believe that it was Billie singing both
renditions. I immediately referred to Angelina as a 'vocal chameleon', for in the way
that the lizard can change its outer color instantaneously, Angelina does it vocally.
When she turned 8 and sang Dinah Washington's classic 'What A Difference A Day
Makes', this 'vocal chameleon' ability comes to the fore again. She has exerted this
amazing 'chameleon' skill many time since those early performances and not just in
the jazz arena but other genres as well. Never heard another singer who is as versatile
as Angelina.
Angelina is from Norway so her mother tongue is Norwegian though through the years of being in the US her English has gotten flawless. She also works Farsi, Swedish and is known to speak odds and bits of Japanese and Korean.
The only thing to expect with her is to be surprised: you think you are prepared but she stuns you every time :-)
She can take us back to those times of way back when and let's us hear how people sang back then. She can also take songs from the past and bring them to the present.

On the 2nd round the singers had to sing acapella if they weren't going to accompany them selfs on an instrument
From your comment section, I see the "Angel" fans are taking notice of your reviews. Good job. Angelina will be releasing her first album with Republic Records this year at 17. Another outstanding piece of music she did at 10 was "I'm Still Holding Out for You". The video is fan based & you will see leaked stamped in front. Big controversy over this one. It was written by Baby Fuzz with some others. He put it out to see if anyone would do it. As far as he knew, no one did. So a couple of years later he decided to release it. What he didn't know, was Angelina had done a demo of it, but got shelved. So, Angelina's version got dropped as his came out. Why it got shelved, lots of guesses, nothing concrete. Who leaked it, nobody knows & as far as I know it's still a secret. What I am aware of, she will never perform it again. Which is a shame. Another place to check out some outstanding artists, in on the radio station Wish Bus 107.5(?). Some phenomenal voices. Morrissette Amon, Marcellito Pomoy. Can't forget Dimash. They have a big following as well. The Philippines have some wonderful singers. These are a good start to build your channel.

At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried.
Musicians working with Angelina would call her the boss since she knew exactly how she wanted to sing the song and would confidently instruct the musicians. While one could say Angelina was mimicking other artists, there is no doubt she had her own style and created her own arrangements, even at this early age.
Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition to trim the number of vocalists who passed their audition, and was not performed in front of an audience.
In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them.
In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists.
When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. The vast majority of the prize money was donated to charity benefitting poor children.

The original writer of this song was an Hungarian man.....and this song had taken on the title of the "Hungarian Suicide Song"......and then another came along and changed the words just a bit. This song had a devastating impact on those that lost the love of their lives.....and they soon followed.
The song "Bang Bang" is not her own, it is a song made most famous by Nancy Sinatra in the 1960's. It is about a love gone bad, 'shot down' meaning rejected.

The second round was an elimination round because there were too many singers. So all those standing there were singers, those who didn't have an instrument had to sing acapella and then the judges chose who would go into the next round, this round had no audience

After the last performance, Summertime, that older male judge said to her, "In this song, you tell us not to cry, but I couldn't help crying at every performance." It's easy to see why she won, right? I know you want to hear a recent example of her singing, so I'll recommend her original song 7th Heaven, live from summer 2022. Hey bro, you don't have to blur out any of Angelina's videos because of copyrights, except for the Americas got talent one's, you Angelina viewers will blow up if you don't blurt out her videos, I'm just being honest, if I can't see the video of Angelina's performance, I mediately click off, I've been watching Angelina reaction videos for 3 years, no criticism, just a heads up
It's not at the desire of the poster, nor at their command to change, it's an oft cited flagging of the youtube mysterious algorithm (whatever that means). I doubt any posters are thrilled when it happens.
