Met Bob once when they played Syracuse NY, maybe 79 ? Eight of us came from The Farm a " hippie commune" 80 miles away.We had just finished shopping for the Chef that traveled with them. and needed tickets. He pointed to a tall white guy in a cowboy hat. Chris asked me if my wife and I would like to meet Bob! After meeting a couple Wailers, whose spliffs I kept hoping they would pass, Bob comes in. Magic time. I'm instantly smitten. We talked and I told him we were brothers, long hair flowing, herb smoking, breakaway revolutionaries, he would have none of it. " Nah, the Bibble ( Bible) the only way!. I left disappointed he didn't see our similarities. This part white, yet black man, had an incredible presence, a devoted Rasta. I still feel to this day that he was a saint. My saints aren't perfect people, but are Natural Mystics!

This guy had a four hour reggae show on Saturdays back in the 80s on KCRW-FM in Los Angeles, long before KCRW turned yuppie-hipster.

Our show ran on Sunday afternoons, not Saturday, and equal credit must go to my partner, Hank Holmes, without whom and his peerless collection, I never would have dared to start the program. Thanks must also go to the great music director, Tom Schnabel, who put us on the air beginnig Oct 7, 1979 - Roger "Ras RoJah" Steffens
