It is not difficult to ID a person who has passed away. Who told you that? If they knew it was him after the broadcast then they could have interrupted the entire reporting immediately.
Thank God IBC24 has found a way to monetize this. It's like my grandpa used to say, 'When life gives you lemons, make ad revenue from your coworkers' horrific tragedies.'

It was breaking news and as the pictures were coming in the staff around her realized that it was her husband she was reporting on... she was unaware of it as she was reading the script. The staff let her know after she was done reading the news.
