I buy none, I get gifted practically any one of them. 😅 But the TCL 40 Series, NOW that's something I haven't got my hands on. 😲 It's got pretty nice specs for it's value! 6.75“ SCREEN SIZE 90Hz - Big, smooth & comfy. 6GB OF RAM² - Power for streamlined performance. 50MP AI TRIPLE CAMERA - Artful low-light shots. 8MP SELFIE CAMERA - Refined selfies with AI Face Beauty. 5010mAh (Typ.) 18W CHARGE - Intelligent charging mode slows battery aging. A Nature-Inspired design of Twilight Purple & Dark Grey. 🟣⚫
As a budget buyer, I'd be looking for basic value for money and the 40SE brings that, as long as I could get the 256GB model (but Amazon say it's not available until June). In this price bracket, not only is the memory availability as good as you can get, but it's also got Android 13. I want it to avoid obsolescence for longer - I don't change my phone often - budget buyers are often very infrequent buyers and that's what draws me to the 40SE. As for 5G, unless you live in a thoroughly wired-up remote-control home, I don't see a huge need, so I could forego it here and save some money.
I am very impressed, I currently have an iPhone 13pro and although it's good, the majority of its brags, I rarely use! I do benefit from 5G though as I appreciate the excellent advantages of the speedy network in my area. I really like the idea of the TCL 40R5G which I think, covers all the bases with very few compromises, looks lovely, and is realistically priced and I am excited to see phones like these coming to UK shores offering realistic affordable alternatives.
I actually like the sunlight mode. Sometimes I go outside and I see my smartphone screen become dark to the point where it's indistinguishable to a completely switched off screen and I have to indoors to manually adjust screen brightness. The automatic screen brightness function is a hit and miss; too bright at dark and too dim at daylight. In the end I like TCL 40 R 5G as it have that background desaturation function that can be really useful for interviews
I LOVEEEEE my TCL phone. Dropped it HARD a million times and she's still going strong and my SE is lightning quick and has amazing video on a large screen. I bought it 2 years ago for 180 bucks..I thenk got qlink wireless which wound up being Tmobile high speed unlimited everything for free every month...so for years now I have this amazing phone and unlimited service for FREE. Get the SE. Does what a phone 4 times the money can do. The ONLY thing I think mine lacks is wireless charging...but again..GREAT phone!
A very fascinating budget smartphone that I really want to have one. The design is modern and attractive having a big screen to enjoy videos and films. I love its dual speakers with surrounding sound effects. A nice and fantastic cell phone.
TCL 40 SE from price to 90hz screen it just seems like the kind of phone that is the dream at such a price point! It's amazing to see how great cheap phones have become.
Both phones are equipped with reasonable features even at subsidised prices. yes! Subsidised prices. Affordable at even under mid-range budget price. The features I love most about the TCL 40 Series are; 1. The 5G network band innovation which ultimately maximizes fun. Users don't have to rely on public Wi-Fi before surfing the net. A built-in 5G chipset will enable stream on the go without interruptions. 2. With an adaptive 90Hz NXTVISION display feature, exploring next-level sensations is made possible. Users are to experience explosive colors and sharper details on a cinema-like 6.6" display as they stream, socialize, and have fun. 3. I love the Intelligent Charging Mode. The phone recharges overnight to be ready just before you wake up. This really helps preserve energy and Increases the battery's lifespan. 4. And lastly the camera take sharp, non-blurry images with fast focus and enhanced stabilization. Conclusively, it's a smartphone at budget price with amazing features.
I think mobile phone has become part of our lives. The camera features enables us to take pictures for memory sake and the internal storage which is now handy makes storing these memories easier. This mobile device TCL 40 se has caught my fancy especially because of its camera, 256 storage and battery. 50mp camera sensor is just amazing I could snap the whole world with it ☺️☺️ 256 storage is enormous enough to store thousands of good pictures and memories of specia l moments. The battery is enough to last through the day. This is just the perfect device for me, for anyone who wants something nice, fast, convenient and quality. TCL is doing great and I love them for their efforts.
Both phones offer great value for money, but for me with its cheaper selling point the tcl 40se is the one I would buy. It has great HD+ large display with evenly balanced speakers which would be great to consume a bit of tech chap content on. 😄
I've been impressed with what I've seen and heard about tcl's tv's so had a browse at there phone range. I usually buy a mid range mobile phone, but have to say I'm impressed at the value / performance ratio of this phone. I've just ordered the purple version, not my usual preference but it looked great compared to grey. My 1 year old Motorola has disintegrated on me, first the fingerprint reader and now the charging port is playing up, so I'm happy to come across your review.
This is nice for people who can't afford anything else and it's either this or nothing at all. Everybody else is better off spending an extra 50usd and getting something like a Xiaomi Note 12 or Note 12 pro.
Personally, the TCL 40R 5G is my favourite, taking the cake and just edging out the 40 SE. 5G isn't a necessity but the Dimensity 700 Chip's added performance is greatly appreciated in this day and age. The best feature is the camera, especially at this price point and the AI colour video mode just adds to it. Love the backplate design! For just $50 more, the TCL 40R 5G is an absolute steal.
As a disabled vet, budget phones with large screens are a blessing. I am saving every extra dime until I have enough to obtain the SE. I don't know if I need 5g with my ACP plan.
Can’t find anywhere to buy them! I tried the links in the description but once I select USA the 40 R 5G doesn’t show up for purchase. Just the 30 series
My galaxy S10 I've had for 3 years has given up but looking for a cheap temporary replacement and saw the TCL 40 Se going for about £100 and as always I do a bit of research first, really interested in this phone after your review thanks, only annoyance is no telephoto and wide angle as the camera is what I always base my upgrades on. I may have to change direction for this one as will do all the other things I need to do. The 6gb ram one is more interesting gthanthe 4gb ram version and also comes with kore storage, the purple looks lovely too! Thanks for the video
I have just received my TCL40se this morning. Looks lovely but not over keen on the matt finish on the back.....still, I bought it from VERY for £109!! So not complaining 😊. Main reason for purchasing was that I need a dual sim slot, one UK, one EU. Looking forward to using it and ditching my old Xperia at last
Features which i love about TCL 40 ------Large display: TCL 40 series smartphone has a 6.52-inch HD+ display that offers a clear and immersive viewing experience. Long-lasting battery: It has a 4500mAh battery that can last all day with moderate usage and supports fast charging to get you up and running quickly. Powerful processor: It is equipped with a MediaTek Helio P22 processor that ensures smooth and lag-free performance. Impressive camera setup: It boasts a triple rear camera setup that includes a 48MP primary camera, 5MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. It also has a 13MP front-facing camera for high-quality selfies. Affordable price: The TCL 40 series smartphone is reasonably priced, making it an attractive option for those on a budget who still want a feature-rich device.
The stardust purple sounds like an extremely exciting color to have. 40 R5G is really the model I find that would meet all of my needs. I love watching videos without doing any gaming. The 50 mp camera would definintely replace the unit I have. Well actually it would replace my wife's Samsung since she always complains about the picture quality being poor. Looking forward to more videos about tech subjects
Definitely the 40 R 5G, just for that extra performance seems worth paying the extra for. Although I love that twilight purple colour of the regular phone! Overall, they look good for the money!
My favorite I’d say the SE with those even speakers, lovelly for someone like me who listens to Music quite a lot! Plus, the ROM offer, amazing for the price!
Question so I had the TCL 10L and on that phone I was able to cast to my TV by just turning on the WiFi then the cast option with out actually giving the TV internet can the 40 do that as well, I hope you understand my question.
The only thing that gets me to watch these phone videos is if they are good for gaming and the price point. These phones tick the boxes. Their best points for me are the 5000mah battery + 90hz refresh rate + PRICE. I would choose the 40 R 5G because it has a faster chip. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good value phone. Thanks for the great video, Chap!
I'd go with the "Café Nero", haha! I loved Café Nero when I went to London. All joking aside, I'd stick with the 40 SE due to its more affordable price. Good video though. Thanks for posting!
TCL 40 SE in my case. Perfect price point for giving to my teenager and he’s mostly on wifi when using a device so wouldn’t miss the 5g. Also that purple 👍
That 40R 5G is a great deal from everything being shown. The special color mode on the video and the design of the backplate are the biggest surprises for me. I'd rock the TCL 40R 5G proudly knowing it'd be a great bang for your buck phone.
The twilight purple is nice and purdy and all that jazz but unless you are a lemming you are going to have a CASE on it. So color doesnt really matter that much. To all of those who have a grain of sense, these two things are what should be important: Durability and functionality. Thats pretty much it. If you are buying a phone because its "pretty" then you have way more cheddar than I do and Id like a zero interest loan plz.
Well, for this price having a smartphone is absolutely worth it even if it doesn’t have 5G. 6 GB ram is pretty good btw. So, overall, if you’re on budget, definitely this is your best smartphone in 90 and 120 hz
Wow that's Stardust purple is beautiful, I love the way you explained how the phone work, on RUclips Channel they don't explain like you do, thank you for the information blessings to you and your family, look forward to hearing from you again😂
The tcl 40R 5g 's colour video thing looks sooo good.... How is a mid range phone like that able to handle all that processing? Would love to play around with it lol
Paid 220 to get an s10 fixed and now it has another issue making it unusable. Id love the TCL 40 SE. Sounds like an amazing bit of tech for the price. Love the simple but sleek look they went for.
Best Feature? I think the camera for this price is amazing. These budget phones really ramping up the the usability. 2 yrs ago everything except the flagships feel sluggish, today different story though. The 4g purplish would be my pick as I do not use 5g and would expect a bit more battery life out of it.

I guess I'm a bit of an outlier here. I'd go with the SE at $169. These are budget phones and folks probably are also looking at budget phone plans which either don't have 5G or a low limited data cap. So many places of WiFi available I've found it rare when I'm actually using cellular data and have a need for 5G speed. For me, my cellular data is commonly text messages and map updates for navigation while driving.
Really appreciate this review. Too much fluff on the more expensive phones, which I can't afford. I particularly like the fact that you are not obsessed with video quality and the cameras. That's not why I buy a phone. I am probably stuck buying this from Tracfone, my pre-paid provider. Else I can't transfer my minutes over easily.
Very nice phones! Purple 40 R 5G (particularly to me is more lavender/ blueish) to me for sure. Dark grey phones are soooo boring, turn into something repetitive. Manufacturers should come back with really black phones.
like most tcl 40 r 5g for that cheap price with midrange camera competetive to other high midrange smartphone that would be great...nice review....greetings from philippines....
Hey Chaps! Do you buy budget or flagship phones??
budget but even budget phones are out of my reach cuz im living in one of the worst inflated countrie
Mate, here from the UK, some scammers indicates that you are a winner, so please block or don't reply.
@@roclintgabrielvargassanche5674 already reported bro thanks anyway 👍
Old flagships because they’re better than new midrange phone
I buy none, I get gifted practically any one of them. 😅
But the TCL 40 Series,
NOW that's something I haven't got my hands on. 😲
It's got pretty nice specs for it's value!
6.75“ SCREEN SIZE 90Hz - Big, smooth & comfy.
6GB OF RAM² - Power for streamlined performance.
50MP AI TRIPLE CAMERA - Artful low-light shots.
8MP SELFIE CAMERA - Refined selfies with AI Face Beauty.
5010mAh (Typ.) 18W CHARGE - Intelligent charging mode slows battery aging.
A Nature-Inspired design of Twilight Purple & Dark Grey. 🟣⚫
I love the fact you're giving this budget phone review the same video quality as those of high end ones. Keep it up! ☺️

It's available through Vodafone for 40$

I like the TCL 40 SE as it’s there is so much technology for such a great price. It’s hard to know how they do it!
That Dark Background for the AI Color Video Mode seems fun, so the TCL 40 R 5G is obviously my favorite.

Currently watching this video on a TCL 40 se and it's great 👍
Is it lagging?
If I had to choose it would be the TCL 40R 5G with the better chip and the 90hz screen would be awesome
The 40 se in purple looks so good. The camera also looks really good
I choose tcl 40se it's elegant
I'm actually going to get one of these budget phones, I love the TCL 40 SE. Very nice big screen and big enough memory for me, Great video thank you.
I really like the TCL 40R 5G. Has the two main things the 40SE lacks, better processor and 5G support.
Same

That 40R 5G is amazing, with the battery life being the best feature, would love this!

What's a better brand to go for tcl or motorola!
I love the sunlight display mode clears my phone screen even under the brightest sunshine

I think the SE will be well suited for me with the big screen and the low cost with a massive battery
I like the sunlight display mode some how the adaptive brightness mingle here and there to get acquainted with the environment.
TCL40SE IS THE PHONE THAT I WOULD LIKE. I LIKE THE BATTERY AND THE PHONE CASE AND EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.
The only thing that gets me to watch these phone videos is if they are good for gaming and the price point. These phones tick the boxes. TCL 40R 5G would be My Choice, that video AI mode looks really awesome! Great vid by the way! 🎉
For me, the best feature is its price. Having those features in that price point is a steal especially to those who couldn't afford flagship phones.
Why give links to the phones when you can even buy it from there?
I'd go with the "Café Nero", haha! I loved Café Nero when I went to London. All joking aside, I'd stick with the 40 SE due to its more affordable price. Good video though. Thanks for posting!
TCL 40 SE. Purple and Duel speakers are great!

The TCL 40 SE, for its massive screen that I could read fanfic on!

I like the TCL 40SE, the support for dual SIM and up to 1TB storage SIM is a dream.
Paid 220 to get an s10 fixed and now it has another issue making it unusable. Id love the TCL 40 SE. Sounds like an amazing bit of tech for the price. Love the simple but sleek look they went for.
Don't get it it's slow
Oh my favorite is simple tcl 40 5g and better processor with 90 hertz and would love to with that built in colour AI mode...😁😁😁👍👍👍
Best Feature?
I think the camera for this price is amazing.
These budget phones really ramping up the the usability.
2 yrs ago everything except the flagships feel sluggish, today different story though.
The 4g purplish would be my pick as I do not use 5g and would expect a bit more battery life out of it.
I love the TCL 40 R 5G because 5G is just starting to roll out in Leyte, Philippines where I live, and that would give me a faster connection and hopefully far less dropouts.
TCL 40 SE 😍 Simply Loved it..
Amazing phones at such a low price with a 50 MP AI camera.Real value for money
If I had to choose it would be the TCL 40R 5G with the AI video mode, looks awesome 👌
i like best the TCL 40r 5G,it has all the best qualities of the SE such as great battery life, storage memory and RAM, and it's got 5g rather than 4g
My wife would prefer the 40 SE. She just loves that purple.😄
I love TCL 40 se becuse it has great battery and Color , In my country which did not get fulltime electricity , its a go for ME
The TCL 40 R 5G with the AI Colour Video looks great for me!
The TCL 40R 5G seems to be the better buy of the two.
Love the colour of the 40 SE
I prefer the 40R 5G. Everyone should afford to have a premium phone. I love the processing power and the battery life.
Good evening can I ask were to buy the new tcl model cellphone I like the tcl brand
Id like the 40r5g. I'm impressed with all of it really for the price you can't go wrong
They are both great phones here. Excellent value and good features. The 40 SE is possibly edging it with value. Thanks
I love the TCL 40R 5G. Great battery and display...
TCL 40 se for me. What's the charging speed?
I guess I'm a bit of an outlier here. I'd go with the SE at $169. These are budget phones and folks probably are also looking at budget phone plans which either don't have 5G or a low limited data cap. So many places of WiFi available I've found it rare when I'm actually using cellular data and have a need for 5G speed. TCL 40R 5G, Best feature has to be the price, amazing for what you get.
Tcl 40 r 5g, sounds good the device for day to day use is perfect, favorite feature the price for what you can do with the device.
I like 40 RG 5 I love the price & the 2 stereo speakers & earphone plug
When is this being released in the uk
Very nice phones! Purple 40 R 5G (particularly to me is more lavender/ blueish) to me for sure. Dark grey phones are soooo boring, turn into something repetitive. Manufacturers should come back with really black phones.
SD card and headphone jack almost perfect!
I think I'll take the TCL 40 R 5G with that cool camera trick. Cheers !
like most tcl 40 r 5g for that cheap price with midrange camera competetive to other high midrange smartphone that would be great...nice review....greetings from philippines....
My fave is the 40 SE and its the price point that tops it for me.
I would choose TCL 40 R 5G. I liked the video enhancement feature.
