For those who don't know Rob burrow was a very successful rugby league player who despite his short stature was one of the best and most consistent scrum halfs in the game. In 2019 he announced he was suffering from Motor neurone disease, its a fantastic book and even if you're not a fan of rugby I think you'll like it too. (Rob was on my rivals team too but the bloke was an excellent player and I wish him and his family nothing but the best)

Great shout with Matt Le Tissier he was the first footballer when I was growing up that used to leave me open mouthed and gobsmacked with what he could do with a ball. I'm in no way comparing him to the players of today like Messi and Ronaldo but any young kids reading this who don't know who he is or never got to see him play please RUclips him he was unbelievable.
Matt did something that showed real courage, and that was speaking out against the establishment, like Jokavic, and for me that will always make his bravery stand way above others that take the knee for their corporate paymasters.
We used to give Shearer so much s**t at Old Trafford but it was genuinely a sign of respect. The guy was incredible. Even at our best he was that one player we knew could still be the difference. Best striker to ever grace the Prem.
as an Aussie living in the UK in early 90s pretty blessed to have all these players getting shearer was one player i would have loved at utd him mentioning le tissier at the end made me smile even the smaller clubs had guns back then
I know there must be footballers now that have their heads and hearts in the right place, BUT, Shearer and the England team that played at EURO 96, those guys had something i feel is missing so much in todays footballers. I do feel Social media and the internet has diluted people and the magic and fabric of life somehow, and Alan has this strength of character in bucket loads. My favourite striker.

My old work place brings back memories, for those that don’t know the area it’s shepherd offshore land where sub sea umbilicals are made by two different company’s and big Al was close friends with Freddie, for those who have not met big Al he’s a great bloke no aires and grace’s just a down to earth lad and one hell of a centre forward regardless of who you support. 👍

90% of shearer's game was his football brain. He wasn't blessed with pace but his positional sense was above and beyond. A true football legend with a rocket of a right foot.

For me the Premier Leagues best ever striker. Missed quite a few games through some serious injuries and still finished with that amazing record
and a few goals the year before it became the Premier League as well. Would have had 300+ easy without the big injuries
