Thank you so much for posting this video. I thought of removing the whole assembly, after watching your video, I got the idea, all it took was 20 minutes to change the filter.Hats off to you.
Just finished changing the filter on my bmmcc. Same process! Great tutorial video. Just sucks I had to cut the rubber ring because it won't fit in. I used tried it with a new rubber ring and also the original rubber ring, both failed to fit in nicely. I need to learn the technique so I won't mess up again next time. Again, this video is very helpful! 👍🏼👍🏼 I bought mine from the same seller, image quality got better and also the colors. 👌🏼
This was a really great tutorial, i am just running through an issue, after removing the protection rubber, the ir cut glass won't come off. What would you recommend to do in this case?
I'm going to buy from the same seller, but I see they offer "coated" and "uncoated" versions of the IR cut filter. Which version do you recommend? Thank you for your help :)
This is absolutely great. I am having the same issue with mine. I have a dout Do you believe this Ir cut filter has the sma quality the one we buy from the Blackmagic? I just worried about the image quality if it will create some problems or will be the same.
Hi for the 4K you must disassemble most of it from the back side to replace the IR cut because the filter's o-ring is inaccessible from the front. Here's how to get at it from the back: ruclips.net/video/s-MCK9R4yXE/видео.html. You would void your warranty if you did this. I doubt Blackmagic Design has aftermarket service to replace the filter too. The best option is to use an IR cut lens filter or IRND filter if you are getting IR pollution issues.
the production 4k? its the same process i have 4k too. i dont think blackmagic will make it that hard even for them if they have to disamble from the back.
hi and thanks for the video my bmpcc was having the same issue for years and idk what causing it now i will try to fix it by myself using this video do you know what causing the IR filter to be like that?
My filter for my pocket 4k was like a Petri dish with mold or fungus build up. I live in the tropics so it's heat and humidity related. I replaced my filter just now, and I also bought a dry cabinet - this controls humidity inside so fungus cannot grow. I got it cheap from Amazon.
tangsinuo have a new coated filter that will prevent the corosion, so you can use it longer... check out my latest video i posted links (updated links) where to buy that filter.. thanks
Hi , thanks for making this video. Ir cut on my BMCC 2.5k had mist (glue) and the edges are fogged when shooting. So I got a replacement 37.5 IR Cut filter and followed all steps to replace it. Just in the last step (after unscrewing the black holder thing & removing the rubber underneath)...the old IR cut glass won’t fall off when the camera is inverted. it looks like it’s stuck. Any ideas plz! Thanks
How does one change the filter on BMPCC 4K since the IR cut comes with the black frame attached and the IR filter online doesn’t have black frame please help
There's a pocket 4k video on RUclips. To get the ir filter out of the rubber ring, use a hair dryer on low heat. It heats the silicone and eventually you can gently pop it out. You'll need new silicone from a hardware store - put very small amount of silicone around the inside of the ring, then insert new filter. You must be wearing gloves and be very careful. Then rub away any excess silicone with a GLASS CLEANER CLOTH , this removed the grease rather than smearing it around .
@@cineg7533 Hi, I am wondering if I can remove the IR cut filter entirely and use external filters? Mine seems to corrode faster than expected. Looking forward for a feedback from you.
@@itslucasyap I'd recommend only using ir cut filters like the one being removed . Also by a DRY CABINET for your camera gear ; heat+humidity= fungus build up. Check out Amazon for the cabinet
ok removed everything and there is no way the IR Cut filter just drops out of my camera that easy - anyone experienced issues with a stuck IR filter? - i have even tried wedging it out with some mini screwdriver with no luck
I did it! The glass was stuck... suction cup helped. Getting the rubber back was very tricky. Watch out for the spring!!!! Do not loose it :D

Apparently the size is larger, hence it is only glass with no need for a black frame. At least this is what i have seen so far...

I have hit my black magic against the floor, but it works fine. do you think it caused any internal damage?
it would but its built to last...
I’m devastated I don’t think I’m ever gonna be able and Blackmagic support doesn’t answer me to get it done by someone else :)
