      @@samjarmin @Andrew Gevers curious to know as well.. My bmpcc 4k ir cut filter has small spots in the middle (Corrosion?) I had always stored cam with silica gel and never remove/replace the lens (olumpus 12-100 pro), Would like to know experience on coated one, or.. is it just better to go to rawlite (I know its expensive!) 😞

      @@nxcolor go raw light if you want. I got mine from the same place as this RUclipsr - some shop on Etsy/AliExpress. I used to store mine with lens attached (Olympus 12-40) and silica gel , but literally did nothing to protect it. If the humidity is high enough the silica won't make much of a difference. I really recommend dry cabinets - they are cheap on Amazon. You can see if you can clean the spots off yours - maybe you can save it. If. It then you'll need to replace it one way or another

    Just to add a comment - before doing this, grab a glass cleaner cloth, this is great for removing excess residue, much better than even the softest swabs. Other items just smear the silicone around . The glass cleaner cloth will remove it.

    • @djmx9237
      @djmx9237 3 года назад

      im using the glass cleaner cloth and its still smearing/hard to get off. but it only on the edges though

    • @samjarmin
      @samjarmin 3 года назад

      @@djmx9237 the glass cleaner does take a bit of time, but it works only on light smudges after all the thicker smudge and residue is cleaned off, so maybe a nonfluffy soft tissue would help to soak up excess silicone before the glass cleaner can finish off the remaining stuff the tissue can't get

    Hello man, thank you for posting this video ! I have the same problem on my BMPCC4k and as I live in Africa, it's very complicated to send my cam to Blak Magic design. So I will do this too on my cam... But I am a bit nervous to do it, I admit. Do we need to make it in a professional special clean room or it's ok ? Cause there is always some dust in the air, so I am not sure. When we take off the IR filter is it dangerous for the sensor?
    Thank you for you anwser.
