This might sound really pathetic, but your video actually brought me to tears... Just the passion you have for photography and the footage you took just looks so nostalgic. Takes me right back to childhood vacations in Croatia and Italia. Thank you for the informative and touching video (even if that was not your intention!)
That is definitely one of the nicest comments I've ever received on my videos - I am so glad this made you feel that way! I'll take that as a huge compliment
BMPCC 6K Pro and FS700R user here, I still have my OG BMPCC and absolutely love that organic beautiful look. I’ll never let it go. It’s so nice to see it having a revival.
Love this little beast so much. My main camera. Even shot my first feature film with it. I'm still having fun experimenting with different lenses and color grade styles. I keep it attached to my gimbal and when I need still shots I attach the whole gimbal to my tripod. Just easy to take in and out without messing with the camera. Powering it with a monitor and one battery, I get about 2 hours on one battery and three back up. Thankfully my HDMI input has not failed me like many others. Have used in harsh summer Texas heat and during a snow storm. It's been my favorite camera so far.
ahhh the good ol LANC port.. I spent a loooong trying to figure out how to hard remote into my 6kpro for gimble use. frustrating. found a few bluetooth hack boxes but the port is sorely missed. I love the 4K, even the model after this has served the community well. just cant beat the image it puts out at that price. and yes, this camera is SUPER hard to find, been at it for a few months now.. thanks for sharing
Thanks man! I appreciate it, I hope you enjoy your (old) new camera! I’ll never sell mine, I am too attached to it, though they are slowly raising in price
@@GimbleProductions true, in videos they say 400-500 but on eBay it’s really more like $500 for dead pixels and scratches, $700-$2,000 with various extra gear. I think I got a decent deal on one with barely any use, plus 4 batteries, a tilta cage, and a magnetic viewfinder for $750 👌 I’ll never sell either.
BMPCC 4K user here. I regret that I did not start with this one. It looks far more friendly with gimbals and the M4/3 lens types are far more competent than I have ever thought before. It does have it's flaws, but so do it's newer siblings.
Great video! The original pocket is a camera I have thought about downsizing for many years now but It cant bring myself to do it. The image is a special one and I love using it with vintage lenses. Thanks for the motivation to work on my own retrospective video!
Just built up a little hand held setup I use npf battery plate with 12 and 7.4 volt out and a port keys viewfinder so much better than the rear screen the focus peaking on the camera rather than the viewfinder works best. Also ir cut filter and vnd filters on the lens makes life pretty easy with zebras set at 100% you just dial in the exposure and shoot. The dng files are really nice to edit. The only strangeness is the camera white balance is set at 5600 but resolve says 5423k instead.
Thanks for your advice about SD cards. I ordered one (64 GB) from Amazon where also according to the buyers comments this type of SD should work fine with the original BMPCC. Once I will get it, I will post my opinion.
Kingston SDs don't work properly with BMPCC. :-( The camera recognizes them but after, during the recording, a red esclamation mark appears in the place of "rec". Any advice? (PS. Yesterday I also posted here a link with the picture of the BMPCC display but I can't find it anymore)
@@MauroDinosauro I have a Kingston 256GB Canvas Select Plus and it works fine and has never failed. There are lots of Kingston cards though, I think it must be Canvas Select Plus SDXC.
This camera is great and inside my Tilta camera cage with wooden grip it's the coolest looking thing I have ever owned lol. Very well shot video especially the opening, felt like the start of a movie.
I own a bmpcc 4k and I got this camera to go with my bmpcc 4k because I found a cool rig that that looks like an 8mm camera so I got this camera so I could get a retro looking camera and play around with cinema dng.
I got the BMPCC through today and picture does look amazing. Thanks for all of your advice. The mini hdmi cable does fit into the camera and work with an external monitor, however it doest push all the way in would you say that’s normal? Thanks Glenn
I'll say this, definitely do not try plugging it in further if there is resistance. Do you have a cage for your camera? If so, I would strongly recommend a cable lock for the hdmi to ensure it doesn't break or disconnect! Let me know if you need a cage and I can provide some suggestions

This is a great video thanks so much. I won one of these cameras on eBay yesterday so I can wait for it to arrive. I am trying to find one of the battery plates you used but can’t seem to find one. Do you have any links to one? Thanks Glenn
Hey! www.ebay.com/itm/175266981036 This is the plate I am using, though batteries are seemingly becoming harder to come across on mainstream shopping sites. Might be worth checking out Aliexpress for BP-U30 / U60 / U90 batteries. The advantage of these batteries over NP-F is they output 14v natively so for modern pocket cameras they'll be great too. U30 is the smallest battery and is the the one seen in this video, 60 is double size in height and double capacity, and 90 is triple in height. U30 is best for small configurations
Hi Dominic, and thank you for this video. I was wondering if you encounter issues with patterns like barriers ? Your shot at 9:12 is clean. In the same situation, I get a terrible result, even with a metabones speedbooster. Thank you. Laurent
Hi Laurent, you might be facing Moire issues with your camera - this is a common issue faced by early Blackmagic cameras. I believe you can buy a filter that goes inside the camera that fixes this issue! I don’t have the filter myself, I might have just gotten lucky! I was using a sigma 18-35 which is a very sharp lens, which may have reduced some of this visual effects
I love this camera and consider it my "first love" as a filmmaker. Own two of them and keep them in a safe as they will go to the grave with me. Here's a full short I show with two, using Schneider Kreuznach c-mount lenses: ruclips.net/video/A9Kkl_CB0q4/видео.html - In addition to various test videos on my channel. If you're getting started, find one of these and buy it, eventually you can worry about resolution, form factor, etc. Thanks for the video!
Your short looks fantastic. I will also be buried with my bmpcc. Which lenses did you use exactly? And how did you mount them? I just bought a set of Canon FD lenses, 24/35/50/85. They look fantastic but are very long on the bmpcc as I don't have an FD-MFT speed booster.
@@robertpaterson5477 Thanks, Robert. I used the Schneider Kreuznach Cine-Xenon 16mm f/2 with dummy c-mount to MFT flange adapters. No speed booster. I also used a Schneider Kreuznach Cinegon 10mm f/1.8 for a couple of shots. I also own a kit of FD's, but starting at 20mm and need to find an 85mm. Looking forward to what you shoot.

I can’t recall the exact last update for it, but I think if you download the latest camera updater it should put whatever the latest update was onto the camera. Sadly you can’t use the usb output to read files - perhaps you’re best picking up a cheap SD card to USB adaptor!
