Just look at Facebook. It's been relegated to "that thing my grandma" uses by younger generations. Same'll happen to every other platform eventually.

Word. I've heard too many stories of content creators (not just artists) forced out of their main platforms, getting banned for no reason, getting their content removed/demonetized, getting their account hacked and stolen and not be offered any help, and it all goes to show how unstable all of these websites are. It's an essential thing in life in general to always have some sort of a plan B, but especially when you essentially depend on a platform that has been seen to change rules and regulations on a whim with no regard to everyone who counts on it for their income. These companies don't care if you become homeless, they don't care about what values they represent or not, because they're counting on other people to replace you and everyone else that leaves.
Hulu got the idea to do that because they're owned by TV networks who already got away with it. When Cable TV first became a thing there were no commercials because it was a paid subscription service, and then a couple years in they started running ads. It's how it always goes.

I would say Tumblr is a lot friendlier with its search system, tags, feed (ie. you don't see random "suggested topics" and "liked by", only the posts and reblogs of people/tags you follow), its only because of twitter's massive user base that there aren't as many artists on Tumblr. They even fixed the censorship to become optional. I think it could become the biggest alternative to twitter for artists.

as an artist let me always say: develop many social medias (or none, real life still exists) always have plans b, c, d. have your own website if you can. always assume social media sites will die out. it's just being careful at this point.
Indeed. There is no reason to believe that ANY platform, no matter how big, won't eventually crash and burn. A lot of them are even closely tied to trends and momentum, and neither are stagnant. Just look at Facebook. It's been relegated to "that thing my grandma" uses by younger generations. Same'll happen to every other platform eventually.
Elon literally owns the company and could change his mind on the proping up part. Left wing activist are probably the cause of this anyway. They have targeted the advertisers like rabid dogs foaming at the mouth because they hate Elon Musk. Honestly don't know why they hate him other than he doesn't tow the left wing line like the other billionaires. He's done a ton of shit that was on the left wing agenda before they went completely insane. Cut space cost in half, made electric cars mainstream, battery tech for green energy, so on and so forth.
