    Thanks for the great video!
    I'm not sure if it's a problem with my rigging (it worked fine in Blender), but in the part where you adjust the character to an A-Pose, the arm on my character seems to not want to move. It moves very slightly as I rotate and then once I get near 180deg it suddenly swings all the way around within like 5 degrees. Hope that explanation makes sense. Any ideas?

    This might have been asked but what if we want the movement without the animations? I want to just get a cube moving around sliding and jumping like this but it is currently a static mesh.

    Removing the Control Rig at 5:42 will remove the procedural foot IK feature. But at least my character walk properly now thanks to your video. I am still trying to figure out how to create the foot IK to make this work

      You need to re target the foot IK bones from the mannequin to your rig. If you don''t have them you will have to create virtual bones.

    i did this but my custom character is much smaller and isnt animating right as im testing gameplay how would i fix that?

    mine has working weights and everything but its not copying the ik of the manikin and when I test the animations the maniquin moves but my mesh stays stationary.. is there something I am doing wrong?

    For some reason I am still getting a serious issue where my character isnt playing any animations and when it retargeted the entire animation blue print it change some of the animations to root motion when they were in place animations

    Hello, have you been able to use Blender 4 Rigify to UE5? Have you tried to create a UE5 Control Rig with IK legs and a reverse foot in UE5?

    For some reason, when I actually "Retarget animation assets", alot of the animations come out looking very strange compared to what is being shown in the IK retargeter! I went through all the animtions in the retageter and they look fine. Mainly they are rotated and in weird directions. Any tips?

    Thank you. Im glad someone finally made a video for this that isn't over a fucking hour long for no reason.
    I just have a question: What if your character has long hair? How can you set up the IK bones to actually work with this?

      There's several methods for this. It kinda depends on what kind of hair you have.

    Great tutorial, new subscriber.
    How would you go about merging the Skeleton from the custom character with the Unreal 5 one?
    I'm currently take some characters (AssetVille) and change them to use the UE5 mannequin skeleton so any animations target the UE5 mannequin can be used on the character.

      You can definitely convert all of the animations with the retargeter. If you want to use the skeleton natively, you're probably going to need to rig this in blender or maya.

      ​@@WoodyDevs I think I'm a little confused about what is required when I have been trying to google a solution. From my understanding the retargeter is more if you want to convert animations to your own skeleton. I want to use the existing animations that target the UE5 mannequin skeleton. But update the skeleton used by the AssetVille characters which is a cut down bone set, but has 3 extra bones for eye brows and mouth. Merge these with the UE5 skeleton to end up with a UE5 plus the 3 extra bones.
      Not sure whether or not the process is the same. I'm still a relative beginner to Unreal.

      @@Lee_Hall We're on the same page. This is a rigging level problem. If you want to do this, it probably needs to be done in maya or blender.

    I just replaced the skeletal mesh and it mostly seems to work which is odd given it went from human to nonhuman :D

    I truly hope this works because this is the biggest issue with unreal placing a new character model in Unity its just Make Humaniod done, in Unreal its a Billion stupid steps

    great tutorial!! worked the first time but on a new character they started "banding" where i would press play and the character would ""run away" from the camera then reset position when not moving- any advice?

      The way I fixed it was just by downgrading to 5.2. So if you are using 5.3 and its "banding" which it was for me. Then downgrading to 5.2 could fix the issue, at least I hope it does considering i've tried so many ways to fix the banding and it wouldn't work

      Absolutely not... He make new files, did not save them with any names, add different settings and not tell for each step what to do. was very hard to follow.

    It worked but you skipped a few parts that had me having to slow it down completely but my character has an issue he grows out of no where but I will fix that thank you it worked by god

      @@crapotato9099 you both might want to check the set size of the skeleton on the custom model and make sure it is proportionate to the project (this could also be a s simple as the hip bone being resized)

      @@crapotato9099 either in blender or the skeletal blueprint in unreal.
      it basically takes the transforms from the mannequin and matches them so if the bone isn't the same size it can have issues.

    But wait, isn't for this a massive change when using 5.4 Preview? Isn't there now a new IK Retargeting feature included? A new updated tutorial would be amazing.     Dude, thx a lot ! But sometimes you are doing stuff to fast, like this last step of tweeking things in Anim graph, "ABP_Catlady" title save me from being lost 4evr

      I'm using 5.3.2, so I hope this applies on your end. On the IK Rig screen (where we got stuck), I went to the Character menu, then Bones and chose All Hierarchy. Then I clicked on each of the four bones(on the actual model), holding Shift through the process. The balls of the feet are on the front of each foot( but that may just be according to the skeletal mesh I'm using). Hopefully this helps you. Peace
