@@fxphenomX RIP if you're bringing this somewhere and you forget to bring the charger with you/lose the charger which probably doesn't have a replacement
It's good that finally All in ones are becoming what they should have always been. Now that they can actually be moved around unlike an iMac there is no more reason to get a laptop over 17 inch screen size
The title of this review holds true. I'm positively surprised, and I'm very optimistic for future generations of this product. Right now I don't have a use for this, but given how many use cases this covers... I can see myself buying a device like this.
I agree. With upgradeable memory, usb charging, a brighter display, and a bit more battery life. This will dominate. Easy things to address for HP. But at $900 sale price. The current model is still good. We are using it
@@JustJoshTechwhat's the best all in one for gaming my brother has to have an all in one no debate and unnderstands the compromise to gaming. What would you recommend I don't think hp sells the rtx 3080 model anymore and money is not a concern
I set one of these up today. I like that 13th gen seems to just have native NVME mode instead of the convoluted Intel VMD setup, so I easily cloned the customer's old system to it. Pretty nice, I think the keyboard is pretty nice but I found that if I typed too fast the delay on the keyboard was pretty bad, but for a slow typer it might be OK.
It is interesting, I like the legs. 300 nits and (especially) lack of USB C charging kills it for me. Carrying that barrel charger around defeats the portability/flexibility/convenience.
Good design, I think with a few tweaks in the future this could be a really good seller. I'm imagining two different skus... a Snapdragon X ARM sku with amazing battery life, and hopefully an Intel/AMD sku with a mid tier Nvidia GPU with DLSS, so you could game properly for a couple hours on a charge. Also, I like the mobility design, but maybe increase the price a bit and add some higher end peripherals with magnetic attachment (kinda like Apple Pencil)
@@mrbobgamingmemes9558 If you're just using Windows on ARM for basic stuff (Office, browsing, media consumption, etc) then it's perfectly fine. I've got an ARM based 2-in-1 Surface style system and it works great for those tasks, with no noticeable difference between it and Intel based systems.
It is seriously annoying to see manufacturer's shooting themselves in the knee when releasing niche products like these that could be very handy to a certain section of the population. Lack of usb c charging is a massive deal breaker and a 90hz screen with slightly better battery would have been nicer. If nothing, they could have at least made the ram upgradable. The paltry 8GB make this a no go for literally everyone except grandmas. If they have a model with all this and possibly a more powerful cpu, then maybe more people would consider it,even if the MSRP is $200 more.
It arrived yesterday. Yes we will be talking about it in future videos. It probably won't be in a dedicated one by itself, but more likely our end of year "Best of" videos
I'm completely enamored with this PC, and I really appreciate this review, thank you. I get that it's a compromise device. A bigger screen or battery, or a more powerful processor, would make it unwieldy.
The sleeve for the portable keyboard looks quite useful, I wish it's bigger to fit the charger as well. For HP's first attempt of a portable all-in-one (that I know of at least), it ain't half-bad but for this type of more costly product it's hard to recommend. Colour accuracy for day-to-day use is good enough but as mentioned, it seems to be too dim, at least 500 nits or maybe an OLED screen would make it usable outdoors. I wish they've gone with an AMD CPU like maybe a last gen Ryzen 5 5500U to save on power and cost, helping battery life. I'd like to see a larger battery capacity too and come on, at least 16gb of ram. DDR4 ram is pretty cheap nowadays and should be included in the envy move, unless HP is telling there isn't enough space to solder another 8gb of ram. More I/O would be preferable too as mentioned, with more type c and type c charging as well. As you can see, it isn't perfect, but it has potential to be so good if HP makes another one or two generations of the envy move
Is this suitable for office use or personal?? Started using it in January for work but the keyboard batteries didn’t last, any suggestion on rechargeable batteries to use for the keyboard
is it possible to limit to charge the battery to a certain limit like 50% to drastically prevent degradation of the battery? When using mostly whole time with powerplug it does not need to be charged at 100% all the time...
Hi Josh, great content again. I have a question for you. In the videos I watched before, you said that you use a high-end 16 inch Macbook Pro for video rendering. I know your channel is mostly about laptops, but you can get much better performance with a high-end desktop. The bandwidth of 4090s is 1,000Gb/s. Why don't you consider a desktop for your studio?
What a wonderful idea. I wish! The reason is because we review laptops. Alot of channels don't actually use the laptops they get in. They run some benchmarks, feel the laptop, and review it. We use them. So we actually switch laptops almost daily to test them. This allows us to provide a deeper insight. Hope that helps
I have a Lenovo Yoga 900 Home and love it. I made a special carrying bag and use it for travel, but it is too big for planes. This computer is roughly a half inch too big in each direction. I am willing to risk it, but I wish it was barely smaller. I hate laptops.
Question for Josh and\or anyone here who's an expert on computer values. Best Buy has this as an upcoming DROP scheduled for 2\13\24. The Drop price doesn't get revealed until that day when the sale goes live. Any thoughts on what price range would be a "no brainer" for this product?
@@JustJoshTech Thank you! 8gb. I was really surprised by how low the price of another BB Drop item was earlier this week, so now I know anything below $700 is worth considering.
@@JustJoshTech, the DROP ended up being for $749.99 which is only $50 less than the previous sale price they had it for. Hard pass. Thanks for your help.
hello @Just Josh, I am planning to buy a budget gaming laptop and my main usage is programming, engineering tasks , AI and machine learning and i won't be gaming. I have shortlisted two options for me 1. Acer nitro 5 with i5 12450h, rtx 4050 graphics, 16gb ddr5 ram, 512 gb ssd 2. Acer nitro 5 with i7 12650h, rtx 3050 graphics, 16gb ddr5 ram, 512 gb ssd both of these are available at similar pricing in my region. So what should i go for, an i7 processor with ddr4 ram and rtx 3050 graphics or an i5 processor with ddr5 ram and rtx 4050 graphics.
What would be the best "All-In-One" with a high budget, I live on a sailboat and need to conserve space/weight as much as possible, need the "All-In-One" for making my You Tube editing and have it connected to my Qnap NAS with very fast copy/paste speed. Thanks. Oh, I am a Windows user, so no MAC for me. Thanks again. 😇
I would buy this in a minute if you could upgrade the memory or if it had 16 gigabytes. But I have found that 8 gigabytes just isn't enough in this modern world. I have a 17 inch pavilion notebook that had eight gigabytes of memory and it lagged so I put it to 16 gigabytes now it's a rocket ship and I'm very happy with it. I will never ever get anything less than 16 gigabytes memory from now on.
They should have made it at least as powerful as a laptop. Maybe they'll partner with AMD in the next version, or use the new Windows-on-Arm processors for better performance and battery life.
If only this desktop was more powerful like an intel i7-1365u + 16GB LPDDR5X Ram as an option, it would be great for more demanding tasks. Or just make the ram upgradeable. It's a desktop computer after all
