ERICK: can’t have it both ways, bro. Gotta accept something’s by FAITH alone. Can’t see it or explain it, just go with that heart warming feeling. Let Him in, man.it won’t hurt, you’ll feel a peace that you’ve NEVER felt before. Look up at the sky at night. How far away, they stay in place. Planets revolve around the sun, like the Earth does. But they don’t collide. Look at a baby. Tiny little human. Imagine creating such a miracle. It just IS, my man. Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart (not brain) and lean not to your OWN understanding. don’t try to de-code the IT . If we had the intelligence of God our Creator, we wouldn’t NEED Him. He wants us to love Him. Let go, and let God I’d the truth. Merry Christmas!
Thank God for the Anglican Tradition. They have preserved the holiness, the sacreness and the reverence deserved by our beloved Saviour. Above all the grandeur and splendour pours forth from Heaven. The organ overwhelms in heavenly majesty. As for the choir it's angelic.
Yeah they are so traditional that they blessed sins and support radical feminist to lead their church, even appoint women priest and even the worst for bishop, please give me a brake, you are delusional
Nobody can come close to the Anglican Tradition in beauty . Unfortunately modernism with its inherent agnosticism has been embraced by the Church of England at the highest levels . Therefore the pagentry and pomp has lost much of its meaning .
With the world in so much turmoil and confusion, I can't wait for Christmas to come so that we can all be reminded of Christ's blessing of love and peace
Rational Raven Right. You mean like the time when he said that you are to choose him over family and that if you didn't hate your family, you weren't worthy? Or perhaps the time he chased people out of the temple with a whip? Or the parable where he expressed desire for his enemies to be killed in front of him? Or when he didn't know when figs are in season so he threw a temper tantrum and killed the tree? Or where he said that if you aren't with him, you are against him? Or where he turns his back on his mother and family? Or where he advocates thought crime? Or how about the very idea that you will endure torment in an awful place that he created for the crime if not believing in him as a god? It's almost as if you haven't read his story.
Rational Raven No. I appreciated good music. Just because I don't believe in sky fairies does not mean that I can't find music beautiful. I simply found your comment ignorant.
HAHAH "sky fairies"! You really believe Jesus would have been crucified and forsaken for something that wasn't real? You really believe all the Apostles would have been horrifically tortured and in many cases crucified for something they made up? You really believe thousands upon thousands would die for something fake? If so, you believe in a bigger fairy tale than any I have ever heard.
What a fantastic rendition of this very-loved carol! The organ interlude was absolutely dazzling and was completely perfect for the occasion. Such improvisations truly top off such beautiful services.
"THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM." 1 Corinthians 2:9
Merry Christmas to you all. It is a very beautiful Hymn. Christmas wouldn't be complete without one of these hymns. Just as the Hymn says, Let us all rejoice the birth of our King and Savior Jesus Christ. This is a season to contemplate and find the Bethlehem in our hearts. Let us open the doors of our hearts to welcome the birth of Christ.
I attended services Christmas Eve 2005 and it was by far one of the most memorable and special moments of my life. I waited over an hour to gain entrance to attend the services. They sang this very song, and it was beyond moving. Westminster Abbey is a gorgeous, and historic church.
I am an American raised in an Evangelical church so our services look nothing like this, however I have great admiration for the beautiful liturgical services and the organ. I would love to attend a service like this one day. Merry Christmas and God bless.
My little church, Grace Episcopal Church in Alexandria VA which seats about 250 looks and souunds just like. It is Anglo-Catholic and all the liturgies are done right.
the liturgy is something we should never discard. With all love to our evangelical brothers and sisters, this is something that I, as a Lutheran (we are Anglicanism's closest cousins), would never want to lose.

Every year, I always come back to this video to find references for Christmas hymns with pipe organ. It never fails to give me goosebumps. Bet the organist has the best time playing the interlude and the chord progression change in the final part.
Someone asked why not everybody is singing, well, I know why I wasnt singing if I d been there: Id have cried tears of happieness, I allways cry when I hear a great organ live.
Absolutely. My heart is with you. Was this David Briggs who was at the organ... doing the service and the improv. Tremendous work. Inspiring. Worthy of its composer and his teachers teachers. Wonderful. CVD

This is my favorite song. So great to hear the additional verses, and it's so intriguing to see the pageantry and symbolisms exercised therein. Such a powerful prayer prayed in the middle, I felt moved in my faith by its author's genuine heart; indeed, let all the lost come to Jesus, the Anointed One, and know His Light. Glory to God in the Highest and Peace on earth toward men who believe that God sent Him.
Every Time when i saw this Video, i must gave my honor and respect to the man who constructed and build this church without Computers, Maschines, and technical Help! Thats a true Wonder for me! Merry Christmas and Peace on Earth for everybody!
We can thank King Henry III (1216-1272) who substantially rebuilt the Abbey in the French gothic style. The model for this was Amiens Cathedral in France. The interior of the Abbey is very much how the King left it in 1272.
Any ONE else get the chills when you heard this for the 1st TIME, let's you know that there truly are ANGELS here on EARTH as there are In HEAVEN. Thank you for sharing!!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Westminster Abbey is so beautiful There are people in this world who would destroy such beauty because they hate the Lord. The song itself says, "Who would not love thee, loving us so dearly?" A heart that doesn't know it's loved will have no love in it.
When my mind is shaking and the fundamentals are breaking, I listen to this video. I didn't do anything wrong, but it feels like it forgives my wrongdoings. For the peace of the whole world. For living without any hatred. Following God's teaching itself. For without famine and death. Amen.
@@johnking5174 That got my ancestors thrown out of Switzerland and they lost their land and inheritance and property and knowledge of family history and founded the USA and fought the American Revolution for freedom.
It is the Catholic lyrics being used in the Hymn. Both Anglicans and Catholics have a lot of similarities, but they also have a good number of differences. But I do consider them as Authentic Christian Churches unlike the money making scam so called Mega Churches run by pastors who are only in it for money.
The big difference between the two faiths is lose the Pope and add women clergy. Some high Anglican churches are more RC than some main stream RC around here. My wife is a former RC and now is an Anglican Priest, a Canon of our Cathedral.
I am not a Christian man and I really don't care for Christmas music, but there is something incredibly powerful about classical Christmas music; that which has existed for hundreds of years without the pollution of modern consumerism; that honestly strikes a chord within me. Something that brings about the true essence of Christmas, that feeling of true goodwill without some ulterior motive behind it that, without those who keep to the traditions, would be lost. I may be a godless wretch who doesn't believe in God, but even I understand the feeling required for Christmas and with it the feelings of good tidings and cheer that accompany it. And on the 24th day of December even I feel a full sense of Christmas cheer, dressing as Scrooge before handing out the gifts at my sister's Christmas party every year; much to the enjoyment of all in attendance. So I say to all who disgrace Christmas with your blasphemous displays set over a month in advance, let Thanksgiving have it's month and when it's your turn for your favorite holiday, allow your faithfulness to flow free with your devotion to the traditional rites; not the modern rites, of those who had come before. Your mangers and your prayers will come true with belief enough on the day of Christ's birth. So to those who feel the need to overindulge in Christmas cheer; take a step back and view your display from another view. You may just realize that less is in fact more when showing your festivities to your neighbors. Merry Christmas to all those who follow the Christian faith and Happy Holidays to all those who follow other religions. May your new year be filled with good fortune and good company.
This is just amazing - the beauty, the glory, the pureness.... then the organ - simply heavenly! The Church of England's Liturgy is the most beautiful thing on earth, and I'm not even joking. #Anglican #Christianity #Christ
I Love my Church and the people that attend I enjoy all the services , the Choir , the Organist and just being there is a joy I wish I could convey my feelings to more folk .
And now, this is the time again to sing all this songs, to light all the roads and places and to pray! This is the time to be brothers again and no more enemies and i'm truly praying for this! But not just in this days, dark in deed, but all the days and forever! O come, let us adore him! Adeste Fideles!
We got to stop dividing ourself with I'm this and that you are that and this.. No we all are sons, daughters of the same father. I pray you can now step into your future and know we are one not divided. So I may be this you are that and we can not be together. Blending is my father's expertise. So you have perfect blend. You do not fall short of his plan. You are not late you are right in time
That organ improvisation half way through (I assume it was) was one of the most dramatic, virtuosic and emotional movements I've ever heard. I can only dream of being able to improvise like that. Wow.
It was planned to be very dramatic as Dean John Hall arrived at the High Altar and incensed the altar, the over dramatic playing was to signify Christmas had well and truly started, also it was to show off the High Church element of the Church of England to those watching on TV.
The improvisation was performed by Daniel Cook, at that time sub organist of Westminster Abbey. Daniel Cook is now Master of the Choristers and Organist of Durham Cathedral.

I absolutely love pipe organ music. something about it that reaches into your soul. This organ sounds absolutely beautiful, the old organs like this always produce the most beautiful, and powerful sounds!

This MIGHT be what the organist is playing in case you were wondering.
That is the number one reason I tune in to listen to hymns sang at the Abbey; the pipe organ.

I have been an atheist for 10 years now. I can never believe again but I am crying as I see this because I miss the comfort and relief of faith. Like a big hug from an old relative. I miss the peace
Bless you Erik,I love hymns especially Christmas 🎄 this one in particular is just so awesome.
Please come back to Jesus Christ. He Loves you!
Maybe that is God calling you?
God is patient, and he is waiting for you - to give you that peace you gave up.
Thank God for the Anglican Tradition. They have preserved the holiness, the sacreness and the reverence deserved by our beloved Saviour. Above all the grandeur and splendour pours forth from Heaven. The organ overwhelms in heavenly majesty. As for the choir it's angelic.
Matthew, 6:24
Yeah they are so traditional that they blessed sins and support radical feminist to lead their church, even appoint women priest and even the worst for bishop, please give me a brake, you are delusional
not Anglican but Catholic.

Hahaha You are good at distortions. I won't reply because english is not my first language. Just one question: Are you with Christ or against him?
Joe Smith Did you really just come visit a Christian hymn on RUclips so you could troll people in the comments? Chill out brother, Jesus loves you.
Breathtaking. The voices, the organ, the acoustics of this ancient building... majestic.
What a fantastic rendition of this very-loved carol! The organ interlude was absolutely dazzling and was completely perfect for the occasion. Such improvisations truly top off such beautiful services.

I think Christmas without a Choir is unthinkable it is the time of year to galvanise people together.
Nothing beats our Anglican worship,I am from sunny barbados.happy xmas
What an incredible arrangement and playing. Gives you goosebumps.
The most beautiful music that I’ve ever heard from Westminster Abbey. Glory to God in the Highest.
You know it’s beautiful when tears immediately form in your eyes as soon as they begin singing....
I love ❤️ this sooo much!
I attended services Christmas Eve 2005 and it was by far one of the most memorable and special moments of my life. I waited over an hour to gain entrance to attend the services. They sang this very song, and it was beyond moving. Westminster Abbey is a gorgeous, and historic church.
As an Orthodox Christian in America I find this beautiful
I am an American raised in an Evangelical church so our services look nothing like this, however I have great admiration for the beautiful liturgical services and the organ. I would love to attend a service like this one day. Merry Christmas and God bless.
It’s very common for services to look like this in England, as part of the Church of England.
You would be most welcome to join in the Anglican traditions.
This is what catholic services look like in US
My little church, Grace Episcopal Church in Alexandria VA which seats about 250 looks and souunds just like. It is Anglo-Catholic and all the liturgies are done right.
the liturgy is something we should never discard. With all love to our evangelical brothers and sisters, this is something that I, as a Lutheran (we are Anglicanism's closest cousins), would never want to lose.
I am an American and a Buddhist.
Accidentally saw this and listened.
To all my brit friends you guys knows how to carry on traditions.
We love you all.

You can't just say that.
Agnostic but raised Roman Catholic, this might be the most beautiful piece of music ever produced, not just for just Christmas but of all time. Which says a lot coming from me lol given my disdain for the Roman Catholic Church. Just be nice to each other, no need for religion…
Here’s wishing everyone Peace & Love & a very Merry Christmas! 🎄
With respect, being nice to one another does not replace a religious faith. I'm sure dyed-in-the-wool head hunters could be very nice to one other.

I watched and listened to it very often, particularly to the organ interlude. Awesome organ and organist!
Every year, I always come back to this video to find references for Christmas hymns with pipe organ. It never fails to give me goosebumps. Bet the organist has the best time playing the interlude and the chord progression change in the final part.
Jesus will be with you in every step of this life until the end of the time. Mathew 28:20

The thing that I love about choral Christmas songs, is that you can listen to them at ANY time of the year and they still have the same effect on you.

Outstanding work!!! I am huge fan of this style of music... having pipe organ and choir performing together is stunning.
The entirety of the "Yea Lord we greet thee" verse is spectacular, but particularly 7:42 through "word of the Father." Chills every time.
7:46 very powerful 32' stop in organ pedal
This is a magnificent service, and I speak as a former Anglican who converted to Eastern Orthodoxy.
Believe they both trace back to Peter, no?

The Anglican Mass looks so much like the Catholic Mass. I feel like we are back in communion with one another 😍
You are right!
We do differ however in the beliefs of the Mass, never forget that
@@johnking5174 That got my ancestors thrown out of Switzerland and they lost their land and inheritance and property and knowledge of family history and founded the USA and fought the American Revolution for freedom.

When I think of Christmas I think of the older versions and churches. It brings you into a reality and a peace with God.
