I just watched a video of Mariah Carey singing this beautiful carol and while she was exquisite I prefer it sung by a choir as opposed to a solo. Peace and Season's Greetings.
I miss my husband so very much! He died in Jan. 2020 of Cancer.. Our wedding 48th anniversary was the 20th, now Christmas ... I can't feel the joy and cheer I used to feel but I know Christ is the Light of Life. I weep at Christmas, now. All I ask of Christ is he takes care of his beautiful, gentle soul and that my beloved is safe.
I know he'll be very safe. Try to enjoy this coming Christmas, I'm sure he'll be happier if you do. God bless you ❤ Hope this message doesn't cause any upset 🙏
@@xan.1638 Be quiet Abdullah. Jesus Christ is God Eternal. Just because your 7th century cult scammed you out of the truth doesn't mean its nothing more than a meccan pagan merry-go-round, pretending to know the Lord while blaspheming him .
It is 2023, I am listening to this song right now on December 11th. It was my mother's favorite Christmas song. She passed in 2011. I miss her so much, and Christmas has not had its spirit since. I am in tears as I listen. The world is falling apart, and I pray for peace and healing for us all these days. God help us.
Thank you! Free Palestine from an American Christian Do you know what kind of building this is? Watch Jason Jack. Did the Millennial Reign of Christ already happen? And are we in Satan's little season? The evidence. Yup!
@wademacdougall1600 you won't be saying that when you meet Jesus, face to face on judgement day. You'll be wishing you would have looked into it a little harder, instead of just writing it off as nonsense. Repent, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Nobody goes to the Father except through Jesus. You don't wanna hear those dreadful words "depart from me, I never knew you, worker of iniquity ".
My dad passed away around two weeks ago... Just before he went to the hospital and went on a ventilator he told me this was his favorite song. Nothing thus far has made me cry so quickly, this is a truly beautiful song and it resonates with my thoughts and feelings going through this loss
@Best Hillsong…… Awhhh…. Sweet memories always for your dad, he’s having a little sleep, that’s all. A meeting up down the line …… Cherish the times, memories are golden, our loved ones are never gone really, they are with us always…. Hugs 🤗 and huge love ❤️ ❤❤, smile and enjoy life as your dad would want you too, he’s a thought away, that’s all……..😊❤
Sorry for your loss. This was always my favorite too, ever since choir days I loved the way it built up to a crescendo although I wouldn't have had the words to express that. I remember my mom playing piano while dad sang bass, my big brother baritone and me alto all those years ago. I'm the only one left but they are in my memories.
I'm Indian Muslim 🇮🇳 But this is by far the most beautiful carol I've never heard, it literally brought me to my tears, I'm proud to have Prophet Isa A.S, Prophet Musa A.S, and Prophet Muhammad S.A.W as our Islamic prophets
@ashkan Isa is Yeshua, Jesus the God of Salvation. He's calling you, brother... To believe in Him as the Word of God (Kalam). He is God. For those who believe in Him will have eternal life. Wassalamu Alaikum...
I remember the first time I heard this song when I was a kid. I was watching Home Alone. The scene where where Kevin was in church and the choir was singing this. Gave me chills. Love this song.
Same here. I loved this carol in Home Alone. Not a carol we would sing and thus my parents and I never knew what it was. It wasn't until around the turn of the millennium when I found out what it was thanks to a radio broadcast from King's College, Cambridge I listened to. My favorite Christmas carol by far!
9.45 in the evening of Dec 2 2024. My favourite carol. I led my choir in my swansong and sang my head off...even though conductors are not supposed to sing at the same time ! A thunderous applause at the end....rare in Church !!God bless you all.
I cry everytime I hear this. As soon as it hits that key change and "fall on your knees.." and then that high note in diviiiiiine is just so beautiful. 🙏
Same. Such a moving carol. Makes me think of that moving scene from Home Alone when the old man is in the church speaking with Macaulay Culkin about the argument with his son and his regret they no longer speak. So touching and the music matches it beautfully.
Exactly the same here... I heard it played at Tewkesbury Abbey, the first Christmas I had without my Mum and unfortunately I had to walk out because I sobbed like a baby..
You can listen to it with the intention of only listening to it without having doubts of Islam and Allah. But if you listen to it with the feeling that it is bringing you closer to Christianity then you'll have to answer for that on the day of judgement and YOU will be held accountable when you stand infront of Allah. If that is the case then good luck to you.... and don't say Merry Christmas as it is Haram
I consider myself an agnostic yet I've watched or listened to Carols from King's for probalbly 40+ years and I think it's high time this was a mandatory song to be sung every year.
I am maybe one step further. Atheist, however I love the Christmas spirit and hymns, as they remind me of happy times as a kid. I wish life was as simple as these hymns and what goes with them. Regardless of your beliefs I wish everyone the very best and a Merry Christmas as we approach 2025
Why you were mad by Almighty God to ,You know that all the Heavenly Angel's in Heaven wrote a song just for birth and Heavenly Orchestra played along to !! Bless the Lord Jesus Christ 🙏
Watch Jason Jack. Evidence of Satan's little season. And did the Millennial Reign of Christ already happen? You won't be agnostic anymore! We've been lied to. About everything. Jesus kept his Word!
I am glad you found this carol, your comment makes me realize how lucky I am to have grown up with this and many other carols. Oh holy night is by far my favorite carol though. It's so solemn and reverent, and so unequivocally beautiful. It truly is the perfect devotion to the night our Lord was born. God bless you and Merry Christmas.
Wow. I am surprised you did not know about this until a year ago. I was raised Catholic and I am 41 so my mom would play the Christmas music but good that you found it now. God Bless.
Come to God's only Son, Jesus Christ! He is waiting and calling you with His Holy Spirit. It may sound too good to be true, but the Bible is actually real! Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
This music breaks my heart for some reason. Its so beautiful but just makes me want to cry it touches my soul. God bless and Happy Christmas to everybody.
Sang this every year at midnight mass when I was a chorister at the Catholic cathedral in Portsmouth. Beautiful. ❤️ If you're reading this then I send love and wish you a happy Christmas. 🙏
I am Muslim, but I always listen to Christmas songs because I find them very relaxing. Sometimes this makes me closer to God (Allah), always makes me cry. Love peace to all🤍
Thank you. I am a Christian but I find Islam facinating and I have come to greatly respect the religion and I even believe in some of its teachings. I have even noticed certain similarities between the two religions. May Allah bless you and your family and may the holy spirit guide you. Amen
Lord, my God, I thank you for bringing this day to an end. I thank you for allowing my body and soul to rest. Your hand was upon me and protected and preserved me. Forgive all the lack of faith and all the wrongs of this day and help me to forgive all those who have wronged me. Let me sleep in peace under your protection and protect me from the temptations of darkness. I commend my loved ones to you, I commend this house to you, I commend my body and soul to you. God, praise be to your holy name. Amen
Salvation literally 'salvages' lives. Nurturing a maturing relationship with my Creator, as I understand Him, got me off the streets and straight for the last Ten Years.
We find more sentimental associations with the Eternal, All-knowing, All-loving One taking on the finite-ness of our humanity at Christmas in the form of a beautiful, helpless, needy, totally dependent baby (the Word not yet able to speak), but that baby had to grow up, and be crucified, and die, and rise again from the dead. The Crucifixion-Resurrection is the greatest gift that our Father has given us. Jesus talked always about his "hour." "My 'hour' has not yet come," that "hour" referring to his passion and death, and resurrection--FOR US.
Gott, dein heiliger Name sei gelobt. Amen
Jesus is born :) all the poor, lonely, disadvantaged, rejected, I remember you especially tonight because the light came to this world to free us from the darkness. Nothing, not even the worst of times lasts forever. Be faithful.
Sadly faith does not fill the mouthes, so it must be not only a value but a duty for every christian to fight the economic differences that Jesus condemned. "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." ~Mark 10:25~

O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining, It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining. Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born; O night divine! O night, O night divine! Led by the light of faith serenely beaming, With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand. So led by light of a star is sweetly gleaming, Here came the wisemen from the Orient land. The King of kings lay thus in lowly manger; In all our trials born to be our friend. He knows our need, to our weakness, no stranger, Behold your King! Before him lowly bend! Behold your King! Our King, before him bend! Truly He taught us to love one another, His law is love, and His gospel is peace. Chains shall he break, for the slave is our brother. And in his name all oppression shall cease. Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we, With all our hearts we praise His holy name. Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we, His power and glory ever more we shall proclaim! His power and glory ever more proclaim!
As someone who spent years doing youth theater, these boy sopranos have always floored me. It is *hard* to get a kid to understand stuff like dynamics, pitch and blending, and these kids are all absolute pros at it. I can't imagine how hard they work to get to this level of mastery. I feel honored to even get to listen to this. :')
They sing it at such a sweet tempo. Soloists are inclined to drag out. "their" best notes and make it sound like a dirge. This choir's tempo is so much more hopeful and uplifting. Just beautiful, beautiful.
@@Nofurtherquestions well, idk, all the church choirs I've been a part of were abysmal, certainly worse than the youth theater I did! 😆 I think you'd be hard-pressed to find kids better than the King's College Choir anywhere!
It`s July 2020 and I am watching Carols from Kings. Why? I ask myself. It takes me to a happy place, and I think we all need a happy place right now. I have watched Carols from Kings every Christmas Eve for as long as I can remember (tot of whiskey by my side). Let`s hope when this Christmas arrives we have something to celebrate. Christmas not Coronavirus! Stay safe.

I no more sing church songs but being in choirs from 8 to 18 yo ( there was a time I was in 2 Christmas time I was more in church than at home 😊😅) Still miss singing so much and choir songs after 27 years I had quit, still bring me to tears. My husband still continues to sing . We met right in the church choir when we were young. ❤

It's almost Christmas and I'm stuck in another country for a year because of corona. Despite all the things I've done to make it till Christmas, I wont be able to see my family. This Carol is the only thing that helps me now to feel a little bit better. Merry Christmas to all
Corona, a fate worse than death itself. I just got over it, it was a mild flu, one of the mildest I've ever had, which proved to me it's all a big hoax. I'm glad I had it so I can stop wearing masks and not get vaccinated since I'm now immune to it. And Merry Christmas!!!
my grandma raised me she was a ww2 nurse. she died on christmas eve 1997 and when she died i walked outside cursing god and all of creation. through a light snow i heard our small town choir singing this across the village green in our little church with the windows lit up by candles.
True. However, this music would not exist if not for people trying to achieve a divine standard in the worship of God. Look at almost any modern art and compare it to Catholic/Christian art, music, architecture and so on. There is no comparison. And I say that as a former atheist.
Nooo, listening to it live never compares to a recording. Can you imagine the harmonics of that organ vibrating across the church, not to mention the voices??? The sound in recordings, as high quality as it may be, is always heavily compressed.

@Lee-zw5km listening to acoustic music live is amazing, be it at a church or a music hall. If you haven't, you should definitely try it. I also used to be religious (catholic) and stepped away from the church when my marriage broke down, I was resentful, but I was a convert and I knew my beliefs where real, I was never able to deny them, I just lost my faith. My life has always been hell on earth. I didn't go back to church for 8 years, I went back in August and it's been such an intense year spiritually. I'm looking forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus this year. Now that's another thing you should try. Here is my humble tip: I've wasted 8 years in resentment, and refusing to say yes to God only brought more pain. It's OK to be mad at God, just talk to Him and ask Him to help you understand and to give you comfort. The first thing is to open the communication line. God won't just take your pain away and change your life in the way that you like, it doesn't work like that, but God will heal your wounds over time and console you and give you the graces you need to face the challenges that you're meant to face. Additionally, you will receive some unexpected nice surprises in life as we all do. In my case, I felt a need to go to Lourdes after watching a video about it and indeed I had to go there... I was miraculously healed from a chronic illness and I didn't even ask for it! I can't explain to you how humbling that experience is, in my own body, besides feeling loved and as if I actually matter. When my faith wavers now, I will always have the physical proof that God does exist and He's almighty. So I say give it a try, what is there to loose? I waited until I indeed had nothing more to loose, maybe you can learn from my mistaken.

I agree to an extent but you must try Libera, a children's choir gone commercial they sing this so well too. Carol of the bells. Guaranteed to raise the pickles at the back of your neck
Might be an unpopular opinion, but the chord at 2:46, sung by tenor and bass - I'll never stop having goosebumps at that passage. Absolute chills, and just as divine and angelic as the high soprano notes.
English language is what's connected us humans together lol. If I spoke in my native language, if you and everyone else here did, we'd never understand each other lol. (I'm not good at English btw)
May the lord bless those who hear this just wonderful hymn, from a Protestant from the north to all catholics to the south this is a pure harmonic dressing of Christmas
I got goosebumps all over my body and tears in my eyes when they sang "Fall on your knees". I am not even Christian, but this song touches the core of the heart.

Isnt this haram in Islam? But i am glad you enjoy it. i lived in this city for a long time. The chapel is just so beautiful. if you read the history of it its fascinating too. The fact it is just 1 of a few (originally) Catholic cathedrals that was not burned to the ground during the reformation is incredible.
@@mikecondy6010 Muslims would not typially be allowed to listen to this type of music. It stirs emotions that can cause people to commit acts of sin or violence. Or it can stir feelings of peace. Muslims believe that only the koran should be allowed to do those things. I live in Egypt, and have traveled the middle east. Seldom will find muslims listneing to music in their homes, or even in their cars. There are some slightly more liberal Egyptian muslims that will listen to music in their cars (though they are few and far between). But you will never hear music being played in their homes.

Merry Christmas from a man who found God just a year or so ago. This song makes me sad and happy at the same time. Its hard to explain the feeling but I think it's ... wishing that the whole world could feel as I do at this time of year but knowing that it's impossible. It's been said time and time again but I really do wish there was world peace. Of course that will never happen while being ruled by the elites. But my brothers and sisters of the world know that you ARE all special... help one another and love one another. Merry Christmas and God bless you all x
There are two types of people: those who never lost God and those who lost Him and found Him again. May He bless and keep you and strengthen you in your search for Him.
This is the most beautiful carol that I have ever heard. It grips my soul and fills me with strength and peace. It's hard to put into words how good this choir is.
I seriously believe this is one of the most beutiful carols of all times.

Completely agree josebre.
So sorry

I am in tears as I listen. The world is falling apart, and I pray for peace and healing for us all these days. God help us.

The greatest thing my father gave me was a pack of Cigarettes
@Edestron
But our Father on Heaven gave us HIS unique Son JESUS CHRIST!
Herr, mein Gott,

Sadly faith does not fill the mouthes, so it must be not only a value but a duty for every christian to fight the economic differences that Jesus condemned.

Keep the faith. Light be upon you. We will all rejoice together as the time is nigh.
O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees!
Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine,
O night when Christ was born;
O night divine!
O night, O night divine!
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
So led by light of a star is sweetly gleaming,
Here came the wisemen from the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus in lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friend.
He knows our need, to our weakness, no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Our King, before him bend!
Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love, and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall he break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more we shall proclaim!

Just goes to show all the silly stage and performing arts schools are no match for church choirs.
@@Nofurtherquestions well, idk, all the church choirs I've been a part of were abysmal, certainly worse than the youth theater I did! 😆 I think you'd be hard-pressed to find kids better than the King's College Choir anywhere!

As someone who is an Atheist, I still find these wonderful carols a joy to listen to.
You don’t need to be religious to appreciate this music.
I also enjoy this type of music. They give me the chills because most of them are so we'll sung! I'm not religious but I really like this
i believe this is natural for mankind. We were after all created to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
@Snowden You are right

True. However, this music would not exist if not for people trying to achieve a divine standard in the worship of God.
Look at almost any modern art and compare it to Catholic/Christian art, music, architecture and so on. There is no comparison. And I say that as a former atheist.
Best time of the year, Christmas is amazing!
Is this what it sounds like in the church? In tears OMG thank you.
Nooo, listening to it live never compares to a recording. Can you imagine the harmonics of that organ vibrating across the church, not to mention the voices???
The sound in recordings, as high quality as it may be, is always heavily compressed.
@@magusl9628 it must be angelic😇 gets me sad but joyous at the same time. I'm not religious or anything. Used to believe in god once when younger before life became hell x

God loved you so much that he gave his son to died for you and his name is Jesus Christ

Best version of this song, I've ever heard. Stunning.
You need to watch this one as well :) ruclips.net/video/ym1Wc5dmUYc/видео.html
From another boys choir: Kings College Choir are the best. But I really didn’t expect you to like this music, Jim.
i agree this is stunning , what a pure joy these lovely guys make of it ,,,pure genius xx merry xmas to one and all 2020 x
satanic mainstream media will never send this out on the radio.
I come back every December ! The best Christmas song!
England is Amazing our culture needs to get more respect.
Yes England is truly amazing I like its history, culture and tradition.🏴🏴🏴. I love England and countries in the British Isles.
English language is what's connected us humans together lol.
If I spoke in my native language, if you and everyone else here did, we'd never understand each other lol.
(I'm not good at English btw)
Yes I'd love to visit..sooo much history for sure
May the lord bless those who hear this just wonderful hymn, from a Protestant from the north to all catholics to the south this is a pure harmonic dressing of Christmas
Don’t forget orthodox as well

Angelic at the least.
I needed to watch this tonight right now
❤❤🌲🎄
I got goosebumps all over my body and tears in my eyes when they sang "Fall on your knees". I am not even Christian, but this song touches the core of the heart.
Jesus loves you more than you will know
As a Muslim this is beautiful so peaceful to listen to! Merry Christmas Everyone ❤ fyi we as Muslims do believe in Jesus but not as the son of god but a prophet.. May God shine his light upon you all this festive season ❤

much more than a prophet, let me tell you
JESUS is word of God (kalimatullah) which being flesh.
He was born, death and rose for our sin.
No one can reach Father (YHVH/GOD), without Jesus' help.
Accept and believe JESUS is Lord and Saviour ( Almasih).

The lyrics in English are beautiful.
Why tell us your religion?
@@mikecondy6010 Muslims would not typially be allowed to listen to this type of music. It stirs emotions that can cause people to commit acts of sin or violence. Or it can stir feelings of peace. Muslims believe that only the koran should be allowed to do those things. I live in Egypt, and have traveled the middle east. Seldom will find muslims listneing to music in their homes, or even in their cars. There are some slightly more liberal Egyptian muslims that will listen to music in their cars (though they are few and far between). But you will never hear music being played in their homes.

No it doesn't! They're Christmas Carols!
Christmas is the best time of the year. Time of love .serenity and reflection and joy. Let's pray for a end for this crazy world that we leave in and respect and love one another. Life is short and we should make the most of it. MERRY XMAS TO ALL

Merry Christmas from the uk 🇬🇧
Every year i come back for this version! So glorious!
As I was getting ready to go into Manhattan this morning I started singing this song in the bathroom, no idea why it came to me but I have just found this rendition from Kings College Choir and I am absolutely spellbound.
King's College Choir is the best, always. ❤ I'm glad you found it.
A perfect performance of this sacred song !
[Verse 1]
O Holy night! The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
'Til He appears and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees; O hear the Angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born
O night, O Holy night, O night divine!
[Verse 2]
Led by the light of Faith serenely beaming
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand
So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming
Here come the Wise Men from Orient land
The King of kings lay thus in lowly manger
In all our trials born to be our friend
He knows our need, to our weakness is no stranger
Behold your King; before Him lowly bend
Behold your King; before Him lowly bend
[Verse 3]
Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is love and His Gospel is Peace
Chains shall He break, for the slave is our brother
And in His name, all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we
Let all within us Praise His Holy name
Christ is the Lord; O praise His name forever!
His power and glory evermore proclaim
His power and glory evermore proclaim
Thank you so much for the lyrics. This is the best version of all time. I'm sure of it
Verse 3 is truly powerful!
Thank you. I always thought there was only one verse. Such a beautiful Carol and beautiful voices.
Thank you for lyrics to this magnificent carol!

So beautiful. Actually I was so moved that I started to seek God after I heard King’s College’s performance a few years ago.
Don't give up......reading from the new testament can also help you grow in your faith Hoi.....God bless.
There are two types of people: those who never lost God and those who lost Him and found Him again. May He bless and keep you and strengthen you in your search for Him.

I'm Buddhist from Korea and china and I love this song
Korea? Biggest religion in Korea is christianity
There's so much beauty in this world it's a shame that all this petty fighting and bickering is going on across the world we are all gods children

This is the most beautiful carol that I have ever heard. It grips my soul and fills me with strength and peace. It's hard to put into words how good this choir is.
