    The word cis(gender) is a 'slur' the same way that the word blonde is a slur. Sure both words CAN be used as an insult (like how blonde is sometimes used as a synonym for dumb, or how cis might be used to describe a bigoted or homophobic person), but that goes for literally any word ever. Hell, look at the word GAY, that word has been used since forever to insult queer folk, but in reality it's just a descriptor, the same way blonde, cis, straight, brunette, ginger, tall, short, etc are. I do agree if someone calls you 'cis' as an insult, that's not cool. But the word itself shouldn't be looked down on, it's a heavily favored thing to be in today's society, anyway 😒

    • @transsnack
      @transsnack 3 месяца назад +2

      @@AldinRamicthat's a valid question, and one only you can answer for yourself. As for gender, it's only as valuable as the person experiencing it wants it to be. I'm transmasc, but I'm really effeminate. I'm actually more feminine now than I was before I came out. My gender is valuable to me, but it isn't incredibly important in my day to day existence. If I had to quantify it as an object, it's a cool trinket I bought ages ago that makes me happy, but it's mostly just collecting dust on a shelf. My mom is agender, and her gender is incredibly important to her (she uses she/they pronouns, but she prefers us kids to use she/her for her because she isn't used to it yet, lol). It'd be more in line with a family heirloom for her.
      So, for you, your gender will only be as valuable as you want it to be. And if you find no value in gender for yourself at all, I'd suggest looking into the apagender spectrum. It's where you feel fully apathetic towards your own gender.

    The only time I get frustrated when people use the word 'cisgender' is when it is used as an insult when it has nothing to do with what is being talked about (similar to how calling a guy a 'fag' was just a general insult) or to exclude people.
    For example, when my sibling was first exploring and trying to understand their gender identity, they would do things like tell me I could not go to things like trans rights rallies or gender related protests because I am cisgender. Thankfully, they do not do that anymore, but when they did, it was really frustrating and hurt. Especially because I am in the LGBTQ+ community, I'm bi. Even if I am not part of that facets of LGBTQ+, I still want to support them and fight for their rights.

    I actually have a question about what people consider trans. Is it when someone identifies as the opposite gender, or does it mean if you identify as any gender other than your birth gender?

    • @Jade_87100
      @Jade_87100 5 месяцев назад +2

      trans is if you identify as anything other than your birth sex/gender

    • @theomnomnomynous9501
      @theomnomnomynous9501 5 месяцев назад +3

      From my experience, people tend to use terms such as "trans" and "gender" as all encompassing words to identify themselves. That's how we get terms such as transrace, trans-age, transspecies, anxiegender (socially anxious), autigender (autistic), and pokegender (identifying as a Pokemon).

      @@Jade_87100 If gender is meant to exist solely as a social construct, it shouldn't have effect on things based in biological reality, such as restrooms, sports competitions, and even prisons. These separate areas are meant to exist due to the biological differences between men and women, not how someone chooses to identify themselves.
