It’s such a good rendition. When you take it into the context of how far off it was off the recorded Boys Next Door version, and the switch of a feminine voice… it’s one of the earliest best of the others that have come.❤
Marie Hoy - this is the best song ever. If I haven’t heard Marie Hoy’s version of this, for a couple of years, I crave it. Wish this version was on Spotify.
shane8808 i agree this is the great version!!And today is the first time I can hear it except the movie version i still watch on video tape...shivers ,just shivers
God, thank you for this - finally! Haven't heard this for about 3 years. I threw out the tape in a house move - acidentally. I once worked with Marie and didn't even know it. A big team and a short stint for her. I wish I had known, I would have gushed and told her how much I love the way she interprets the song. Love you Marie! Best version ever.
@@lanabanana68- I think you will find it was the Boys Next Door, who turned into the Birthday Party some of whom then started the bad Seeds & others went on to do Really interesting music with others. Crime and the City Solution, Rowland with Lydia Lunch, the Hungry Ghosts & many many more. Rowland S Howard wrote Shivers but Nick Cave got the credit… I did see an interview with Nick Cave many years later where he stated that he felt extremely bad that he had been the singer on that version of the song. He, sincerely, said that no one can sing Shivers like Rowland (though Marie Hoy gives a truly fantastic interpretation on the Dogs In Space soundtrack) & that he should have left it for Rowland to sing. Does anyone know if there is any sort of recording of the band that Rowland & Ollie Olsen were in together in the late/mid 70s- The New Charlatans??? I have seen the brief interview from ABC Australia where Rowland and Ollie are interviewed together (so young! Just babies!). Just interested to see what their other songs were like. Very sad to have lost two HUGE talents of Melbourne Australia music too early in their lives…
Ha know exactly how u feel - I've been looking for this 4yrs 2 so a big thanks 2 every1 for posting this. ps occasionally u can find the soundtrack on ebay but prices start from around £50.....
I so totally relate but my tape still works. So many people in Western Australia have never heard of this brilliant classic cult movie! Michael Hutchence R.I.P. you were a master!
Where can I find this whole soundtrack? The songs and the movie were so great! I miss the days of listening to this in my old VW Fox in my tape player...those were good days.
this was discontinued before Hutchence died...so it can't be anything to do with the estate...they probably don't have the masters anymore...but you would think the record company could do something about it...
i had the LP many years ago, well decades really,in the late 80s and this song was on that one.I hate when they re-issue albums and lose some of the songs, that blows.
I f*ing love this song!!!

I have to say, this is probably the best version of "shivers" that I have heard. I love how the singer has a kind of Mick Jagger/Stonesy vibe.
Nothing beats the original. ruclips.net/video/QsIPoRTBV44/видео.html
