    Lyrics
There's an army on the dance floor
It's a fashion with a gun, my love
In a room without a door
A kiss is not enough in
Love my way, it's a new road
I follow where my mind goes
They'd put us on a railroad
    They'd dearly make us pay
    For laughing in their faces
    And making it our way
    There's emptiness behind their eyes
There's dust in all their hearts
They just want to steal us all
    And take us all apart
    But not in
Love my way, it's a new road
I follow where my mind goes
Love my way, it's a new road
I follow where my mind goes
Love my way, it's a new road
I follow where my mind goes
So swallow all your tears, my love
And put on your new face
You can never win or loseIf you don't run the race
    Yeah, yeah
    Yeah, yeah
    Yeah, yeah
    Ah-hoo
    Ah-hoo
    Ah-hoo
    Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh, ahh-ahh-ahh, ahh
    Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh, ahh-ahh-ahh, ahh

Wow - that is exactly what I was thinking. I think I felt that way when I heard this song originally, as well (and I’m old enough to have been around when it was released). There is just something so evocative about the sound of this song In general, and that haunting lyric in particular. It captures a feeling that is both familiar and yet hazy. Wild.

Call me by your name left me in a feeling that I can’t ever get over and still haven’t got over the relationship between Elio and Oliver and to be able to feel for the characters and develop the same emotions for the characters is so beautiful because even though you can’t relate you can still feel for what they’re going through and in a way it breaks you and you can’t really think the same. For me at least. Im still recovering from this movie even though it probably won’t happen

If people woke up and realized EVERYTHING that the puppet masters feed us in television, radio, magazines, Internet, (fake) history books, for crying out loud, schools, "Presidential" special addresses to the nation, etc. is either to demoralize us, or increase their power/control (laws based on lies is their specialty). They were manipulating history well before the 80s, and 90s, but not so bombastic as the last twenty years. Dumbing down is real, high altitude, white chemical spray is real, chemical laced food and water is real, militarized police/surveillance states are real, weaponized weather is real, "mass shootings" and "terrorist attacks" are NOT real. We've abdicated all control to them, and their diabolical control of the Monopoly money (particularly) and governments has ensured we will not contest them in any way. Due to the controllers dark genius, astonishing commitment to absolute control, patience, and our unfailing predictability, their choke-hold is sunk too deep. However (IMO), if we (en masse) would at least call out their manipulations, attempt to stop their attacks, and reject their psychological operations, our spirits would soar. Resisting probably won't change the outcome, but we would at least have self respect. And, we would all be much happier knowing them portraying everyday people as bloodthirsty, random, mass murders is complete BS!

    They'd dearly make us pay
    For laughing in their faces
    And making it our way
    There's emptiness behind their eyes
There's dust in all their hearts

I know people hate comments like this but I first heard this song through Call me by your name. It's been weeks and I can't get this song out of my head! It's honestly become my new favorite song. It gives off a feeling of warmth, and hope.. yet I can't help but also feel a mixture of melancholy and sorrow in it. Everything about it is just so unique. Also I'd recommend looking up the meaning behind the song and the lyrics. In short, Richard Butler wrote it for gay people. He wanted to let them know that it's okay to be who you are. This further makes me appreciate the use of this song in the movie and in real life. And fun fact, Elio has a picture of the Psychedelic Furs in his/Oliver's room. I've seen people theorize that he's seen them at a concert and knows the meaning behind this song which makes sense during the party/dance scene.

"Front man of the group Richard Butler had a specific audience in mind when he penned the lyrics to this song. He explained this in an interview with Creem in 1983: "It's basically addressed to people who are fucked up about their sexuality, and says 'Don't worry about it.' It was originally written for gay people."

      clique bait
      It was disappointing.
All the choices were made for the sake of aesthetics rather than emotional truth or satisfying narrative. If it weren’t for Timothee Chalamet there’d be nothing real there at all.
The story is told from Elio’s point of view but directed in the opposite, with him as the object. Armie Hammer is good but woefully miscast as a 24 year old intellectual uncertain in his sexuality. He’s a 35 year old jock. The dad’s emotional soliloquy at the end is presented as though it’s revelatory, but there was nothing in Elio or his parents’ behaviour before this point to suggest that it was a secret or that they didn’t know. So it had no power at all.
I felt that they made a 4 hour film. Then took all the bits that looked good but brought nothing to the story and made that the film.

Those who missed out on that young love felt by Elio probably just don't understand. It's so beautiful to experience love like that when young, whether it works out long term or not, is irrelevant. I sense some bitter reviews are by those who never got the chance to experience true love at such a young and transformational age. Kinda sad, really.

There's an army on the dance floor
It's a fashion with a gun, my love
In a room without a door
A kiss is not enough in
Love my way, it's a new road
I follow where my mind goes
They'd put us on a railroad
    They'd dearly make us pay
    For laughing in their faces
    And making it our way
    There's emptiness behind their eyes
There's dust in all their hearts
They just want to steal us all
    And take us all apart
    But not in
Love my way, it's a new road
I follow where my mind goes
Love my way, it's a new road
I follow where my mind goes
Love my way, it's a new road
I follow where my mind goes
So swallow all your tears, my love
And put on your new face
You can never win or lose
If you don't run the race

    Yeah, yeah
    Yeah, yeah
