It makes me realize how lucky we were to be in our prime during this amazing decade, and at the same time it’s clear that while many of us are happy, we still miss those glorious days and many of us would do just about anything to do it again. The 80's what an amazing time. In my 20's, Iroc z, college, fantastic music, great movies, got married had my first two kids, bought a house. I saw this band live about a month ago in South Jersey. Boy did they nail it. If you get the opportunity to see them, do it. His voice is exactly the same. Great show.
The music from the 70s and 80s was fabulous. I started listening to Bowie when Ziggy Stardust first came out. I listened to the Psychedelic Furs from their start. I was born in 56, so I was in high school in 1970. Groups like the Psychedelic Furs were not pop, so most people never heard of them. Tears for Fears, Echo and the Bunnymen, Modern English, Midnight Oil, Simple Minds, The Call, etc. These are all alternative. Some became big, some didn't. Many, many more never made it big, but were fantastic. James! Oh, no, how could I forget the Pretenders?? They were my first alternative/punk band.
Hearing this again after many years and the beginning sends shivers down my spine. So much of the music in the 80's was just so joyful. I think that's what is missing today. The music today is like a paint by numbers picture. You recognize it as 'music' but there is rarely any soul and joy in it.

It was such an achievement when the radio station left the songs without "watermark" so I could get the song clean. Yes... life was so much simpler then.

This song comes on, the windows are rolled down, and the volume is cranked up to disturb the night. I stay on the main road and drive past my turn so I won't wake up the neighbors. I drive about a quarter-mile out of the way before I turn back towards home. As I make the turn into my neighborhood the last notes fade away. For such an awful day it ended so sweetly. The heat of the bar... the thundering sound of the dj... the buzz of ur mixed drinks... catching a look from a hot girl across the dance floor.. the heavenly encounter...only happens in the decade of the 80’s...with music of the furs...
On November 1st, 2018, my boyfriend took me to see The Furs at the MPAC in NJ. He surprised me with front row seats. He held me tight around my waist when Heartbreak Beat came on and I leaned my head back against his chest as we sang this song together. It was such a magical night and a defined moment in our relationship. From that night on, we would always sing this song to each other. I lost my boyfriend on October 29th, 2021 to cancer. Playing this song 8 months later and once again feeling in me that love and magic. You gave me the best days of my life, Chris. Love you forever. ❤️
80's musicians tended to really do an amazing job rockin' the sax, while cleverly integrating it into modern music it seems. Horn instruments also experienced a brief renaissance during this era and helped create some of the most appealing music ever.
@@bilicana agreed 100% on each ... I'm glad I saw Ian earlier in his career, and Jim more than once, and Midge to me is next to Bryan Ferry on the Mt Rushmore of my childhood ... You only get one life to live. You might as well enjoy every minute of it listening to 80’s music. The greatest music generation ever. Viva la 80’s!
Here did time go? 57 yrs old now. Was in the Army about the the time this came out. In Germany in the 80s sorry for those that missed that time. 2 years of partying. The music was insane. The partying more so. I was living life thinking it would be that good for ever. Man was i wrong.
The heat of the bar... the thundering sound of the dj... the buzz of ur mixed drinks... catching a look from a hot girl across the dance floor.. the heavenly encounter...only happens in the decade of the 80’s...with music of the furs...
The 80's courses through my veins with this song!
my dad introduced me to all of this music a few years ago...
I have never looked back.. it feels like love.
Cool dad ya have. Enjoy him while he is still here.
Nice to see how much you loved Chris. I love my wife as much as you did Chris.
Damn that saxophone gives me goosebumps just listening to it! Awesome track, it brings back memories of me being a little kid. Damn I miss the 80's
yes saxophone very good
80's musicians tended to really do an amazing job rockin' the sax, while cleverly integrating it into modern music it seems. Horn instruments also experienced a brief renaissance during this era and helped create some of the most appealing music ever.
61 years old boy does this take
Me back to some good times! I would even say good as the cure; i dont think Richard smith would like that.
I’m sooooo thankful for growing up during this era. So many memories.
I’ve loved All of their work but this one always seems to stand out; my home town NYC…
Pure 80s magic. Would someone please take me back?
Wait for me
High end 80's music! This is an awesome song.
One of my top 5 favorite bands. There's something comforting about his voice and synth.
Hello Elizabeth, good day to you and it is nice seeing you here.
Was tired driving, played this song and it woke me back up 120% 🔥 🎶 😎 💪
And it feels like love, Ohhh the energy of the crowd. And it feels like love. Never forget it!
My favorite Psychedelic Furs song!
Richard Butler is THE voice of the eighties, such an underrated talent...thank god I have their catalogue to listen to daily
80snewwavekid Wish I had their whole catalog, but I'm working on it. And I love the tube cause it helps w that, & I get to look @ Butler.
Jim kerr,ian Mcculloch,neil tennant,midge ure....got unbelievable voices too😊
@@bilicana agreed 100% on each ... I'm glad I saw Ian earlier in his career, and Jim more than once, and Midge to me is next to Bryan Ferry on the Mt Rushmore of my childhood ... I still treasure my Bobcat 12" of West End Girls when it won Single Of The Week on 91X 6 months before that remix which made it to number one ... Neil & Chris deserve much more discussion about being AIR before AIR came about
I wish artists of today had this kind of passion surging inside them...
The 80's were the best time for music...
Only decade that the music
Was really about feeling good...
Even with all the changes going on
I love the line at 1:30 “there’s a perfect kiss somewhere out in the dark, but a kiss ain’t enough” and then the video partner swing with the guitar.
“And the world don’t stop, every time that you call” Love this song!! 80’s forever!
One of the most underrated bands of the 80s (along with Echo and the Bunnymen and a buncha other indies). But us indie kids knew what the deal was, where the music was really playing. God bless the 80s! May their spirit and music live on in our hearts. Peace out to my kids of the 80s!
Physically, the 80s Music..was definately my favorite part of my Life, Coming up,
I Write, Sing, Produce and Engineer, and have the honor to still have at least the "Essense of our 80's Music" Even in my brand new Songs...80s Music Forever.....!!!
Man... I love great beat. Bass, Guitar, Horns, Drums, Vocals, Synthesizer. Talent. Miss those days.
Amazing vocals by Richard Butler...Long live the Psychedelic Furs, from California, with melencholy.
This has to be one of the Top Five most underrated songs of the 1980s. Nobody even seems to bring it up in conversations about music.
