DRM wise - is it tied to a physical iLok USB or is it simply a single online activation using the iLok app and that’s it??
Will purchasing this license in any way interfere with having a license for Trash 2?
This is a new plugin that will not interfere with your existing sessions or installations. We offer online software authorization through our Product Portal.
From pluginboutique’s site:
“ Authorization:
iLok License Manager is required to authorize this product.
Supported License Locations: iLok 2 USB, iLok 3 USB, or iLok Machine License.
Exponential Audio products are not available in the iZotope Product Portal application.”
Looks like it requires a physical USB for installation… is this not the case?
Already have it, thks.
no custom uni-bipolar shapes? what? it's like you guys killed the heart and soul of the old Trash plugins
EXACTLY !!!!
I hope they will fix that asap.
Totally out of touch. No dynamics and only a tilt eq and one low pass filter?!?! Terrible

Thanks for your feedback! We're excited to launch this new imagination of Trash and see the reception to it. If we get enough requests like these, we may consider putting features on a future roadmap!
it feels like izotope took a product and downgraded it. i want to do more and retain intuitive control of my signal, giving me just a lowpass filter along with just distortion shape presets seems like a pretty big miss.
things i feel are missing that i was looking forward to using:
-user controllable asymmetrical saturation options
-flexible modulation system along with midi aware / pitch tracked distortion
-refiltering of distorted signal
-pre and post eqs
-distortion delta / difference solo
-sidechain features (maybe apply sidechain signal distortion to carrier signal)
-feedback
-delay
-mb compression (let me ott stuff inside my distortion signal path)
-flexible routing options for different components
-oversampling
-IR generation or capture
-basic clipping features and workflows (I've been searching for a good multiband clipper in general and it seems there's like one on the market...)
No delay module, no compressor module, no custom shapes, no dual filters, no pre and post filters. You’ve killed an amazing product 😢 😱. We wanted Trash 3 not Trash 1
this
The GUI resembles a PowerPoint presentation by a marketer turned designer.
Not dissing your post, but Trash 1 had all of that… only thing it was missing was tempo synced LFOs.
Thanks for the feedback! We're excited to launch this new imagination of Trash and see the reception to it. If we get enough requests like these, we may consider putting this feature on a future roadmap!
@@iZotopeOfficial Give us the Trash 2 feature.
this feels like they looked at rift, ableton’s roar, or arturia coldfire and just said “ok let’s do that” when trash 2’s whole appeal was how extreme and customizable it was. I hate this trend of dumbing down tools to the point where they’re all identical. do I really need another dual engine distortion plugin? meanwhile I just hope trash 2 keeps running on my apple silicon Mac.
Luckily, it does.
@@VuotoPneumaNN I was trying to use an old installer, but now it tells me that “ resources are being used” every time I try to run the installation on my M2 MacBook Pro. I googled it, and on isotopes website, I found that the error is due to an unsupported newer Mac OS version. I really miss trash 2!! How did you get it to work on your new Mac? I am running macOS Sonoma.
Coming back here to post actual thoughts after trying the plugin itself. I dissed it initially but after playing with it a bit, it’s not the worst. I still wouldn’t say it’s a replacement for Trash 2, but it is novel enough to justify its existence. On the surface it looks way too similar to other dual engine distortions like rift or coldfire, but being able to blend and modulate between 4 types of distortion and convolution freely is unique, and something Trash 2 and the competition can’t do.
IMO the biggest weak point is the modulation and filter sections. You can’t tie the envelope to many destinations and only having one is ridiculous. You could make up for the lack of a dynamics section with more and better envelopes and the ability to route them to more places. I also think the filter section is a big miss and should be replaced with a morphable EQ/filter, and that I should be able to decide if I want the four convolution and distortion engines in series, parallel, or a combination of the two, with individual settings rather than one knob controlling all four. IMO there should be an “advanced” menu for each engine offering individual gain, dry/wet, wave editing, and EQ/filtering controls. With these changes I actually think it would be worthwhile as a replacement for Trash 2, but right now it’s too barebones.
As for the Delay section… I can live without it.
Trash 2 works for you? I have to switch protools to Rosetta for it to work
@@tidusandjecht10 I use bitwig, which can host both native and Rosetta plugins at the same time. I used to run Ableton in Rosetta.
So we get a stripped down version of a plugin we already own, and then have to pay an upgrade price?
iZotope is getting worse and worse with their anti-consumer practices.
I know the suits who own you are and that profit is all they have in mind but this is ridiculous. We, the costumers, have to pay you to keep certain plugins "alive", when we already paid for them in the first place...
Was left underwhelmed. You watered down Trash 2 for no reason at all. Took away many good features that were previously available. Is this an upgrade or a downgrade, really? Also, as mentioned by others, it doesn't distort as hard as Trash 2. C'mon, iZotope, you surely can do better than this!
Same sentiment here
How very disappointing that they removed well loved features from Trash 2. I thought this was supposed to be an upgrade not a downgrade.
Well you've actually managed to turn Trash into trash. I would have rather have paid the upgrade price to keep using Trash 2 then to pay for this. There's only one modulation option, no eq, no gate, no delay, no compressor. Shaping the sound is very limited and you can't even resize the plugin window! Rift, Thermal, Coldfire and Roar are way better options.
Thank you for bringing this plug-in to iOS ❤
Nope this isn’t it. Trash 2 is legendary and y’all came half stepping with this. Y’all need to just put Trash 2 back up for download for the people who don’t have it.
A trash version of trash 2, i miss the old izotope.

Izotope dropped the ball on this one. Trash 2 is unbeatable
I hope everyone's got a copy of Trash 2 before the remake.
Downgraded for 30 $ yup thanks guys
Trash 2 was pretty much perfect- if you'd just smoothed the clicking when the bands were moved that would have been all I'd ask for. However putting out this kind of product is not only disappointing for the Trash plugin, but also calls into question izotope's credibility.
whoever made the demo tracks absolutely crushed it
This is what happens with engineers who also work in marketing.
yeah freaking seriously! that's some intense pro level demo tracks! usually the demos are like okay sounding stuff or very generic sounds that don't fully nail the vibe of whatever it is. this was like oh i'm hyped for this and should be!

also, thank you!
Maybe they should create a Trash Pro with all these user requests
no oversampling?
Is this Trash Lite?
It looks to have less features and functionality than Trash 2
Am I missing something? 🤷♂️
So obviously, there’s a lot of complaints about this, but I think this offers a lot of really exciting features. It’s not an upgrade to Trash 2. It feels like a separate plugin altogether, but one that I would want to have in my arsenal, just like Trash 2. As long as I can have both, I’m interested.
Do you have any Chewley's Gum?
izotope are notorious for ignoring customers. like literally speaking. thye've responded to my tickets before saying theres not enough interest or conversation about that thing. They only like the comments on their page that boosts their ego. Not the critical ones that are obvious and correct.
I could agree if they were both still supported. Trash 2 doesnt run on my m2max MacBook Pro.
I'm really digging the IOS version. I did use 4 instances at once in AUM and my ipad has never been so hot.
If you're gonna remove features from the new version I'd appreciate it if you actually fixed some of the bugs in Trash 2 so I can actually use it
How is this new? You got rid of half the functionality and gave us a new UI, the only upgrade is that it works with newer OS.
What is wrong with you?
Looks good ! and nice that there is a trash lite free version, but I dont find it in the product portal ?
Thanks for the heads-up! That was apparently a glitch on our end. The instructions in the video description should now work!
Nope, still not in the portal. Why isn't this a free plugin for subscribers, just like the previous one wasn't? I could kind of understand the last plugin since it was more for voiceovers but this is absolutely a music production tool but not included in my music production bundle I pay for every year!? Why am I subscribed then? Why am I paying a yearly fee to only have to pay for new products as well? I really want an explanation, this is crazy! @@iZotopeOfficial

I hope they make trash 3 available with the older Mac iOS :(
That's a pretty damn good intro, I must say.

I wouldn't expect an answer from them anytime soon. Welcome to the bureaucratic maze.
Since we wanted to create a plugin with zero latency, we had to pass on adding linear-phase crossovers.
Izotope, will this overide trash 2 if we upgrade? or will we still be able to use trash 2?

Will purchasing this license in any way interfere with having a license for Trash 2?
Is this included for monthly subscribers?
@danielpashman No!!!! Isn't that nuts! I could understand with the last plugin because it was more for voiceovers but I can't for the life of my understand why this isn't included for us! I've been writing customer service and complaining all over this post. I suggest you and everyone else do the same. If not they will just keep doing this. It's terrible! When we are the ones funding the company every month. Way to say thanks to your loyal customers @iZotopeOfficial
They took an absolute beauty of a plugin and turned into something that looks and feels like a mobile app...
I own Rift and use Arturia also Ill keep my Trash 2 also. This though , the sound is great. So is speed of use.The layout very intuative. Well thought out, expensive for a 3rd gen release. I think you misread the market needs/user needs maybe?
Thanks for your feedback! When we decided to bring Trash back, it was an opportunity to think fresh about what worked best about Trash and what could be even better. We knew from customer research that most users focused on the Trash and Convolve modules and relied heavily on presets. This reboot of Trash keeps the focus there while adding a much more playful interface to help you get truly custom and exciting distortions that are uniquely possible within Trash.
@@iZotopeOfficialConsidering the negative feedback you're getting right now, this is probably not quite what the Trash 2 user base expected from the successor to a highly customizable distortion plugin? What a surprise... 🙄
Just bought it. I'll probably be using it more than Trash 2, if for no other reason than the great randomization capabilities. That feature made the deal for me. I kind of like the UI, but I also liked the Trash 1 and 2 UIs. I understand where the critics are coming from, but it seems a little overblown. Still, it would seem to be smart to incorporate some of their desired features, sooner rather than later.

It's not "a little more stream lined". It's less than 10% of what Trash 2 has to offer.

No amount of development decision explanations and excuses will make this worth anything more than a free download. Izotope you need to get your old mojo back ( maybe NI gutted it?) . As a user from way back to the original Ozone, I must say I will look elsewhere going forward.
It seems that Trash needs a lot of RAM?... isn't it?... rené
I really hope this isn‘t the UI look & feel of upcoming versions of Ozone & co. A huge step back and not aesthetically pleasing at all.
We wanted a trash 2 upgrade to trash 3. What gives? And you couldn't make/save the presets usable for each band or both sides of the unit. (Drag or copy and paste.) I really think you need a re-release and upgrade for the people who bought this thing.
I dunno, I like the the interface. Was never a fan of Trash 2 interface, so didn’t use it. Used Arturias ColdFire for a bit, but this one seems more intuitive and I love what I’m hearing so far. Don’t understand the hate. Will take the leap. Update: Threw 33€ in the trash because the plugin cannot run on a 2012 Macbook Pro. I thought only the presentation was rushed, but the lppugin does not run on a 5year old Catalina. Lame
Ok update: the leap so far in Cubase means that Trash will load, the GUI is visible for 1 second and then the plugin gives a black screen. Still hopeful
they ruined a legend
Izotope.... what are you doing?!?!? What is this,,, completely missed the mark on this, lacking crucial features from trash 2. sounds like a wimpy, stripped down version of the OG.
You stopped supporting too many plugins and then a paid upgrade for this piece of garbage. Sinful. Kind of not liking your business practice at this moment. Bad taste for no support of the old then here pay us for this instead we worked very little on it.
Trash 2 was first released back in 2012, and was discontinued in 2020 due to an aging codebase that made it extremely difficult to keep compatible with modern hosts and operating systems.
@iZotopeOfficial
Why not modernize UI and UX for easy navigation and build on the featureset present in Trash 2? Throwing 90% of the features in the trash because you think most people only use presets anyway? What about those who have been asking you for MORE features (and bug fixes) for many, many years? You've created a new, interesting plugin, yes. But as a user since Trash 1, I just feel like I've been taken for a ride. Like many others here.... This release is so disappointing.
So dissapointed. Listen to your customers and maybe more people will buy this.
ok i always hated trash because it didn't have some of the new features here. this is incredible!!
Wow! A lot of hate here for the new Trash without taking the time to use it! Having been a HUGE fan of the original Trash and Trash 2, and also having had the opportunity to play with the new Trash for weeks during its beta development, this is most definitely a step forward, which has been informed by Trash 2 fans. No more swapping between Stage 1 & 2 tabs, Shape/Filter tabs and Trash/Convolve/Filter pages, playing with up to 4 multiband Trash mode stages, blending up to four convolution mode IRs ( place an amp in a tin can if you want, or add an Asylum IR while you're at it), multiband/bandpass convolution processing (only full-frequency in Trash 2), independent frequency band settings (set up the Tube Drainer in the mid/low bands, while also blending in some of the Amp Drainer only in the lows).
Granted that the single Filter is no match for Trash 2's 6-band parametric EQ (though the Scream filter setting is mega to play with) and there's no compressor or LFO, but, having had the time to automate the huge number of parameters in the DAW, I can achieve similar results and then some, such as recreating a sawtooth LFO modulation on the Tilt setting.
The new interface improved my workflow and I was pleased to find many of the distrortion and convolution modes from Trash 2. I could go on, but hopefully you get the idea.
All we wanted was Silicon native Trash 2. This is a downgrade!
I honestly feel like this should be called something else. While there are some functions that seem interesting to me, calling this Trash while removing so many elements of what made Trash 2 so good, makes this feel and seem somewhat like a downgrade. Marketing is important, as I'm sure you know, but this misses the mark and you could have avoided a lot of the criticisms found here.
Hopefully its actually better than the legendary trash 2
I fear its actually worse compared to trash 2
It's not.
"Say goodbye to writer's block."
Seriously? I don't like such hyped ads. Say what's relevant for god's sake.
The amount of blow back and distaste for something everyone seems to think was "thrown together" is such an unfortunate way to look at this. Why are we vilifying those who put time and care into making something they thought we'd enjoy using, instead of actually using it to make music? Always worried they were gona build something bloated ontop of Trash 2 with even MORE menus which would have been terrifying for someone like me who's always been intimidated by T2 :( Think of all the people turned off by that overcomplicated and dated looking interface, that will now have access to some amazing distortion sounds unique to Trash. Sounds like a win IMO

It wasn’t nectar or neutron. It was trash 2. but they killed it. They ripped the heart out of it. I will never buy anything from izotope again. And I will tell my opinion with everyone.
Hm, the UI Design looks cool and the randomization features are really nice as well, but this can't even do half of what Trash 2 could do. Overall I think Trash 2 is way more intuitive and can do so much more then just blend between presets. So looks interesting but not what I had hoped for, pretty sure I'm going to pass on it for now.

Get over your self., man. This whole trend of needing to tear everything down with toxic comments don't amount to anything, and it's just showing the overuse of Social Media and RUclips is turning everyone into a bunch of losers who don't have anything better to do with their time. Hate me, say nasty things to me. Go.right ahead. But you know I'm right
While the tone and word choice of the comments might be excessive, the criticisms are legitimate and Izotope needs to hear them. If you're going to try to sell an upgraded version of a well-loved plugin that people have been asking about for years, it's incumbent on your business not to half-step like this. Also, it carries the name of its predecessor yet has stripped many of the well loved features. Brand names carry expectations, so when it doesn't deliver, people feel that the company is using the name and reputation to sell something that seems haphazardly made in the hopes of cashing in.
Personally, I opened Trash 2 for the first time in a while last night and every time I do, I realize that I love it despite the UI needing an upgrade and a lock on the mix button. Then I woke up this morning to the email that Trash 3 was here. I was pretty psyched. Then I saw the features that I like stripped away, and features that I didn't need added, and with a pretty awful UI to boot. I think they should've done better, and I hope the comments convince them that they need to work hard to give the customers what they want and get back to us with a real upgrade.
this is a public comment section. trash 2 m1 support, along with a real trash 3 has been requested for over a decade 😂who are you
If you believe that customers have no right to provide constructive criticism to companies with whom they have spent money, then that is your right to believe that, but that's an opinion. You don't seem to realize that yelling at customers that they're not allowed to provide criticism back to companies is doing the exact thing that you're attempting to shame, just with a different target.
@buckycore You're not right. The first announcement was years ago. Many Trash users have been waiting for an upgrade for ages. Especially since Trash 2 was abandoned. What did users request? A modern GUI that is easier to navigate, more features, more detailed control such as XY automation of waveshape nodes, etc. They took 90% away. They gave us a preset spinner. We don't whine. We criticize. With good reason.
😂 All this post did was tell us exactly how inexperienced and ignorant you are. Especially the first half of your comment. You really are clueless, aren't you? 🤡
