Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here. My absolute favourite line, from any song, ever.
Great reaction, dude. I interpreted both songs the same way. Also, the whole interlude leading into the chaotic heavy part makes me think of the acceleration of human civilization from the stone age until now. It starts out chill and laid back when the bongos are playing. They spend a long time slowly gaining momentum, playing faster and harder. Then, when the other instruments come in, it gains momentum and speed almost exponentially, like eveythung in the world going faster and faster. Eventually, it almost devolves into chaos. You can barely hear, let alone understand, Maynards vocals over everything happening, while he's singing about all of the things we kill for.
YES! Finally! Right In Two was the comment I made on the first video I watched here. That song will always hold a special place for me. In my personal opinion the line "Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here" hit me harder than almost any line outside of Wings. Thank you for all the awesome content.
Notice on Intension how he has essentially 2 options humans can do. Either use their ability to master stone to either help or hurt humanity. Same goes for our mastery of fire. We either use it for good to help or we use it to forge weapons and fight. It's just more commentary on ourselves and some of the good and bad we have done. It can go either way and we should understand and choose the path of using our abilities to help rather than to hurt
Can’t wait for Puscifer! Despite Tool being so impactful and amazing, Puscifer’s still my favourite project of Maynard’s I saw them live back in 2017 and it’s still one of my most favourite live music experiences.
I saw him with Puscifer at a tiny historic theatre in downtown Vancouver, BC. Probably 14ish years ago now 🤔 The Queen Elizabeth theatre, GOOOORGEOUS venue, and SUCH a great show!!
I love that you wait and break down the lyrics after the experience. I always see Intension as the human actions that the angels in Right in Two are observing. Humans build to destroy and divide.
i like all of tools work , but lateralus and aenema are still the peak for me. i am glad you got to listen to them and i hope you get as much enjoyment from them as i do. i like that they dont tell you how to think but only to think to open your mind to other ways of looking at things and ideas. cheers
Tool has a lot of live stuff out there also that is fun to listen and watch. Some secretly recorded and not the best camerawork but I'll take it. A live recording shot in Philly in 1992 by JC Dobbs and Tool archive is amazing. Not best production, but shows the passion and intensity of TOOL. Done in a small club, but fire. A live version of 3rd eye is outstanding. A recent recording of Flood in NY msg is good. They did a cover of Led Zep song, No Quarter that is outstanding. Songs from Salival album r good, ex, You lied and Pushit.
Intension (in tension/intention) is largely underrated. With the stone, or the flame, we have the ability to be either creative, or destructive. These two tracks invoke images of Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, to me.
There's people who think they know music better than TOOL does, and they pause at every badass spot, and then there's regular folk who know how great TOOL is and will let it play and stfu while it goes by and enjoy it. You are the later. We appreciate that.
Emps did you catch the "BACKWARD MESSAGE" in Intention? If you missed it, it says "Listen to your mother. Your father is right. Stay in school. Listen to your mother. Your father is right. Listen to your mother. Your father is right." ✌
it's just my thoughts.. but i easily can put this masterpiece next to the completely other stuff like O fortuna by Carl Orff.. i mean the level is very high
The meaning is not that complicated. The stone is angels thrown down from heaven. Fire is humanity and the remaining angels are in the middle and dont know to do.
YOU KEEP MENTIONING 4 ALBUMS, THERE ARE 6 IN TOTAL… OPIATE, UNDERTOW, AENIMA, LATERALUS, 10,000 DAYS, FEAR INOCULUM. SO MAYBE SHOULD DO OPIATE FIRST… ROCK ON 👊👏
So when will you watch the videos 😮 Those lyrics will make a lot more sense when you watch right in 2. I love your reactions, oh to hear these songs for the first time again, I'd pay anything! I messaged you on ig btw 🖤🇨🇦

My absolute favourite line, from any song, ever.
Just wait till you listen eyes closed without distraction! One of the greatest crescendos ever performed!
Can’t wait for the perfect circle reactions!!!!

Love Right in Two so much, another great reaction Emp.

Puscifer is outstanding, so is APC. Great artist

Going to have to get your mind straight for Puscifer 👽
Fuckin TOOL!!! They take you to whole other dimensions. I love them. Dope reaction too bro
Love the direction. Full album reviews are the way to go! Experiencing a TOOL album is unmatched. The only other band is Floyd imho! ✌
on the right track with your thoughts. its a comment on humanity/society and how we as humans kinda suck. lol
Nailed it dude.
I love that you wait and break down the lyrics after the experience. I always see Intension as the human actions that the angels in Right in Two are observing. Humans build to destroy and divide.
Great to hear you will be diving into A Perfect Circle and Pusifer collectively. Cheers brother!
Great as usual Emp
You keep being surprised and amazed at what they can pull off... because... the keep evolving over time...
man so I saw them a couple of weeks ago for the first time. wow, best concert ever. Worth the 300
…….wait what ???? You didn’t do the album “Opiate” or “Salival”
…….a must before “Fear Inoculum”
🌀👁🌀
One of the best written lyrics of all time in my book.

Lives for land divides the soul right in two.
Total drum clinic!!!!
Fuckin TOOL, eh!?
you're right about right in two

don't forget Viginti Tres!
I think you should have to wait 13 years to listen to fear inoculum just like we did 😂
I don't want angry mobs and pitchforks at my doorstep. 😂😂

🤘🏻🌀
Dude, you are skipping Viginti Tres are the end of 10k days. Your interpretation is correct.
the systemmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
You should definitely check out Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson.
New Staind request: Spleen and Yesterday, Spleen literally is nearly screamo 😂

Right in Two is a good tune for psycho cats.

Your not ready for FI

ROCK ON 👊👏
APC & Pucifer....meh 🤷🏻 APC has a few songs I'll listen to.
love apc, not as much as tool but in my top 5 bands... puscifer on the other hand... not even in my top 20.. but its still pretty cool.
@Justmint939 TOOL is the greatest band in history. IMO Maynard's other projects just aren't TOOL.
So when will you watch the videos 😮 Those lyrics will make a lot more sense when you watch right in 2.

There is no official video for Right in Two
@Justmint939 May not be official but definitely does a good job and is referenced as "the video" quite a bit. 😊
