Cut the Bridge is catchy AF lol. At first it thew it off cus the style. but it grew on me.

Quite possibly my favorite APC song (next to The Noose); hauntingly beautiful. Maynard can do no wrong- Spiral Out...

Nice review but very focussed on your general impression of the songs. There is so much to say on songwriting, vocal performances, instrumentals, production and mix. This album is so well put together! You obviously prefer the heavier songs. But try opening up to Emily’s clean vocals, they are truely amazing and enjoyable. Follow up is a great idea!

While i'm on the opposite end of the political spectrum from Rise Against, i wholeheartedly agree with their anger towards the scale of the wealth disparity. Call it horseshoe theory if you want, but taking pot shots at the 1% is something just about everyone agrees with. And when Rise Against do it, it gets even better. I've been listening to these guys since i was in middle school, so roughly 12 years, and after their "Nowhere Generation" album I firmly believe their best work is yet to come. Some other great ones by them are I Don't Want to be Here Anymore, Sounds Like, Forfeit, Drones, Give It All, and 401kill. Thanks for the reaction, Emp! More requests to come 🤙

The Emptiness Machine - 9/10 Cut the Bridge - 7/10 Heavy is the crown - 10/10 Over each other - 8/10 Casualty - 3/10 (idk I don't like it at all , it's the only song i always skip on this album) Overflow - 7.5/10 Two Faced - 9.5/10 Stained - 9/10 IGYIH - 9/10 Good things go - 9.5/10 So that would be 8.15 , but let's just ignore Casualty and it becomes a 8.75 for me :P

I understand the reason not going for the video, but DANG I grew up on this video! It released as afterschool music video tv shows started taking off over here in NZ, and it got played almost every day. It was my introduction to Maynard, and I must have seen it at least 100 times over the years before I finally got my hands on a full album of his. 😂

Amazing! I have loved the science theme of these last 3 albums. It just goes to show that science can be sexy!

over each other is genuinely great track that shows off Emily's vocal talents, even if its not a "Linkin Park" sound, the song alone is great and back to back with casualty is great contrast *chef's kiss* also got those Maria Brink vibes from her in that part in casualty

My honest opinion is that the singles are the worst songs... the last 3 songs to end the album will go down as 1 of the best album finales ever.. My opinion thou ❤ Obviously Two Faced is the exception of the singles.. its an instant classic.

Cut the Bridge is definitely a grower. On first listen I just couldn't get over the beat being SNARE SNARE SNARE SNARE for the entire song, but a few listens in I couldn't imagine anything working better, and then my whole perspective flipped when I pictured a live crowd screaming "cut it down, cut it down, down!" Much like Bleed It Out, I don't think I'll be going out of my way to listen to the studio cut, but it's gonna fuck live.

Good Things Go is so much better than 8.5. Honestly, all the tracks are at least 9.

Cut the Bridge is easily the worst song on the album. I wish they would have gone with something else considering the album is like half an hour

It's hard for me to rank the songs, because every time I listen, my ranking changes. I will say, though, that Casualty is my least favorite, and Overflow is only one spot above that. At the top is, in no consistent order, Good Things Go, IGYEIH, Stained, Two Faced, and Over Each Other. Then mid-tier I'd put Emptiness Machine, Cut The Bridge, and Heavy Is The Crown. Although Heavy Is The Crown might actually be toeing the line between mid and top-tier groups; it's hard to tell if I'm just ranking it a little lower because it came out so early, so I'm more tired of it than the others. The album overall is also hard to rank, because all the other LP albums are ingrained in my brain from 17 years of new listening and another 7 years of settling into my synapses. All that said: I really enjoy this album, and I look forward to hearing what's coming up on their albums going forward. (Also, JFC Emily, how is she possibly going to sing Good Things Go repeatedly in concert while on tour? Her poor voice 😂)

the songs "overflow" and "good things go" are in the style of the album "A thousand Sun". For fans of the "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" albums, these two songs will seem uninteresting.

Context for the intro: before Linkin Park was called Linkin Park, they were called Xero. It started with Mike Shinoda (songwriter, producer, rapper, and singer), Brad Delson (guitarist), and Rob Bourdon (drummer); they then added Joe Hahn (DJ/turntablist, music video director, and creative director) and eventually Chester Bennington (lead vocalist). (Side note: Mike, Brad, and Joe are all still in the band; Chester died in 2017 and was replaced this year with Emily Armstrong; and Rob decided to leave sometime in the intervening 7 years, being replaced with Colin Brittain.) When Chester joined, they changed their name to Hybrid Theory, but when they signed with Warner Bros. Records, the label asked them to change their name again because they had another band called Hybrid and didn't want audiences to confuse the two. That's when they settled on the name Linkin Park (after LA's Lincoln Park). So in the intro, that's one of Mike's kids realizing that "From Zero" is a reference to his first band name, Xero 😂

This album is a grower, not a shower.

I'd go 9, but to be fair the first listen on a lot of songs I didn't like... Stained the first listen, Over Each Other... both were 1-2 out of 10, but I'd give them both 9 right now. I think the only track I still kinda find weak is Cut the Bridge, and I'm liking it more each time I hear it, every listen (to the album) it all just makes it make more sense, getting more appreciation for the layers and complexity.
