This is literally the ONLY album in Maynard's ENTIRE catalog that I haven't listened through. I do have "Passive" and "Counting Bodies Like Sheep" on my favorites of Maynard playlist, but the rest of the album I'm hearing for the first time with you. I agree with what you said about how the original sounds like the dream version and APC's sounds like the nightmare version. It def has that APC tone to it that you can't miss. I don't know if you've ever seen the show, but all I could think while I was hearing this was that it sounds like it should be in an episode of "Lucifer"....
The Stone and Echo Live version is even better than this was! In my opinion of course...Maynard's vocal talent is well represented here that's for sure!
Yeah, Lennon's version was genuinely hopeful and optimistic. APC's version takes a pessimistic, cynical tone. It's less "look what we could achieve together!" and more "look what we're missing out on because the human race is terrible".
the best part of listening to this album is the music history lesson you'll be getting
wait till you hear the live version of this....crazy good
Bro, this is exactly why I wanted you to do it this way. What a payoff. Thanks again, see you next week.
Nice take EMP! ✌️
My personal favorite Lennon song is "Instant Karma". He was all about peace, which made his death by crazed fan shooting him even worse.
