Thank you for this very helpful video. I'm new to GoPro and just purchased the 10 for my upcoming trip to Maui. I'll be checking out your other videos soon. Thanks!

Greetings from the UK👍😊. I was lucky enough to get a Hero 10 for Christmas and after watching loads of videos on RUclips I must say that yours are by far the best, most informative, easy to digest and pitched at a level which is very easy to understand 👍. Thank you👍😊
I'm so happy to hear that I helped you out! I really hope you enjoy your new camera and be sure to come back for more tutorials as you being to learn how to use your camera.
My first camera absolutely love it I have a triple batt charger pretty good if u want to avoid usb charging I have motorcycle footage that looks amazing I’ve also purchased the mod lens for $70 if your new like me you will totally enjoy this thing
You can go to the marine supplies and buy a product called ‘Salt Away’ and spray that on the camera before storage. That will help stop the caulk forming in crevices. Salt water has a lot of alkali.
The Quik app is awesome! Paid subscription here so no clue on the free version. I edit down clips to 10 seconds or so for b roll and then can extend a clip to full length too. Only thing I haven't figured out is extending the music to full length of video. Took me awhile to figure out the PC version of quik is no longer supported. GoPro 10 and my 1st GoPro. Frustrated me bad trying to figure it out!
Hello I have some questions I just found out that I can use a GoPro for a monitor for farm equipment with WiFi to a cell phone at the moment I don't need to record do I still need a memory card? Thank you also if you cover that in one of your books please let me know thank you.
Thanks for the help I think my GoPro is a seven got frustrated threw it back in the bag because I couldn’t get it to work right haven’t touched it since but seeing your videos when you go grab it charge it up see if I can figure it out thanks again
Hi! Your video is great, really helpful! I am a beginner, can you please tell me how to put pause in a video? To stop taking videi for a while and continue the same footage. Thank you!
Very informative and easy to understand the way you explain. I am not quite ready yet but I'm going on to watch more of your content first... Thanks For The Helpful Info 🙂
Hi Jordan. Another newbie to the gopro hero 10 party here. Your thoughts on screen protectors for the 10. Yes or no? If yes, Telesin or Kingma? Regards Darryl.
I have a question; in the gopro 7 black, if you press the top button for about 5 seconds as you are turning it on, it will automatically start taking photos even if had set the camera for video recording via top quick start button. Then if I switch it off and stop the photo taking, restart normally by pressing top button for 1 second, it starts video recording. This was really awesome and I could switch to photos vs videos on the go without having to stop and pullover on the motorcycle, especially when with a group. The 8, 9, or 10 blacks, just don't have this feature anymore...have you any clue as to why, where, what, when, like who died, who they fired, who got infected with covid, I mean companies have a slew of excuses these days... ☺ Thanks in advance... 👍
Thank you! Great info. I just bought my first go pro. What are your thoughts on screen protectors. Is it necessary to prevent the screen from getting scratch or will it compromise the image quality? Thank you!
Hello, thanks for the video. I was just about to buy the gopro 10 but after reading many, many comments (even on the gopro website) on the overheating after less than 20 minutes of using, I completely change my mind and many people recommand the 8 version better value for money with approximately same quality. So my questions are: as you have all of them, did your gopro 10 overheat very fast also? Which version is your favorite? Please be honest. Many thanks in advance. W. From France
Hello, while you get a response I'll throw in my experience with the hero10 if you don't mind. I'm new to the GoPro world. Haven't taken it out yet for a full day trip but playing with it around the house and car it does get warm while recording video depending on the settings. It also got warm while charging. But I'm not too worried about it. The 10 has a 2nd gen chip. Which I've read makes things a lot faster and more responsive. Also the stabilization it's superior to the others. Hydrophobic lens already on it. And waterproof without an external case. I also like the dual screens. Those are my 2 cents👍
Hi, You are welcome! If you want to attach an external mic, you will need to add the Media Mod, or the mic adapter. If you are filming yourself with the camera looking at you on a tripod, you might want to record separate audio using a lav mic and then synchronize the audio with the video when you edit. This will help reduce ambient noise. Or use a shotgun mic on the GoPro directly. As far as recording time, you will want to record at a lower resolution/frame rate, such as 4k-30, to prevent overheating. The Enduro battery will give you more than an hour of recording time at 4k-30, but you can use a USB power pack if you need more recording time. Hope that helps and is not too complicated!
Does the Sd card transfer reader work on Galaxy phones or Type C Ports or is that just for iPhone? Wanna shoot footage but only if I can transfer videos from my GoPro to my S10
Mahalo nui awesome - first of all Maui was a second home for me - no where can you go that I do not know so how awesome is it to watch demo videos with Maui in the background - will be getting the book soon - I also use Davinci Resolve - I live on my 42 foot ketch which has been in a ten year refit - I have a Nikon DSLR, a mavic mini, and now getting a hero 10. Thanks again for such a great channel.
@10:12: I don't think you can use a simple Lightning-to-USBC cable to connect an iPhone to a GoPro. I think you must use Apple's Lightning-to-USB-A Camera Adapter. Also, regarding corrosion after saltwater use, if you carry a syringe, you can fill it with fresh water and gently expel the water into the speaker and microphone holes to flush out the saltwater. If there is no flow there, the saltwater doesn't come out - or it very slowly, gradually comes out. I think a simple dunking in fresh water makes almost no difference. That's why on dive boats the cameras soak in the fresh water tank for the whole trip back to the dock, and those cameras often have no microphone holes like the GoPro does. It's just desalinating the exposed gaskets.
Hi Greg, Thanks for writing. Great tip about the syringe! As far as the USB-C cable, you can connect your GoPro to your iPhone with a Lightning to USB-C cable as long as you are importing your photos and videos into the GoPro Quik App. Hope that helps clarify it.
@@JordanHetrick Your phone says "CONNECTED" at 10:10. My iPhone also says "CONNECTED" when the lightning-USB-C cable runs between my iPhone 13 Pro Max and the Go Pro Hero 10, but in my case, it is a Wi-Fi connection. The cable seems to have no effect. When I try to "View Media", the iPhone asks if I want it to connect to the GoPro Wi-Fi. If I cancel, the transfer does not proceed.. My iPad Pro, on the other hand, says "USB CONNECTED". It downloads the media to my iPad without using Wi-Fi. And the official support say you must use Apple's official Lightning-USB Camera Adapter to transfer media via a wired connection for Lightning devices. I'm guessing the Quik app would also then say "USB CONNECTED". GoPro should change the status message to "Wi-Fi CONNECTED", I think, if that is really what is happening.
@@JordanHetrick I got an official Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter and have confirmed my earlier comment. When the iPhone is connected via that adapter and a USB-A-to-USB-C cable to the GoPro, the Quik app on the iPhone says, "USB CONNECTED". I get 3GB/minute transfer via that setup. Using a USB-C cable direct from the GoPro to my iPad Pro, I get about the same speed. With the Lightning-to-USB cable, it transfers much slower, about 1GB per 5 minutes, or 250MB per minute. That's twelves times slower than the official wired way. And the transfer did not slow down mid-way when I pulled out the Lightning-to-USB-C cable. I think the cable might not be doing anything.
Thanks for the info. I’m considering purchasing a GoPro. It seems less complicated now. I subscribed after watching and plan on referring to your videos after I purchase my first GoPro. Which model do you recommend for a beginner?
The housing doesn't affect the quality, except for the fact that water drops don't shed off as easily as they do off of the lens cover. That only matters when you come back above the surface though. Also, you may run into more fogging (condensation) issues when the camera is in the housing. Once the housing fogs up, it will affect your shots.
I just got my Gopro 8 black, without a sd card, I'm on a fixed income so don't have a bunch of money but I've been wanting one of these since they came out, I love to take pics and vids of my Dogs and Cat, now my question Jordan is can I still use my camera without a sd card until I get one? thank you, and thanks for your vid I did subscribe and I will send money when the 1st rolls around again, but I can't send much cause the dang SSI Disability don't give me enough yet but I still get by...thank you again, I found your video helpful...Paul in Indianapolis Indiana...
I have a question, is it normal that a gopro doesn't look sharp with like nacro or close up shots.. mine doesn't focus on things close by. For example when I film a flower it doesn't focus. Any tips? Or is this normal for this cam? And is it only for higher distance? Bc then he works great and sharp.. only not close ups.. nice vid!
Hi Jordan, glad I came across this video. I have dusted off my GoPro Hero 5 and again, Im determined to learn this camera. Can you share the link to the free version of DaVinci Resolve that you make reference to and would be the best for beginners as there are several versions on the net, thanks.
Hi bro, i have brought new gopro10 and connected to my android mob but am not getting the same clarity as in gopro, can u advise best andoid phone and desktop system configuration which can get same video quality as gopro..
I do fire apparatus photography and response videos. I have two actual cameras and my phone that I use. But with my actual cameras, I have to transfer my videos and pics from the SD card to the laptop. In using a go pro, would I eliminate that process? Secondly. Being that I have to deal with the new LED lights and daylight, do these cameras need filters? Like a UV filter or a filter for nighttime to eliminate the light streaks from the LED lights?
Hi Jordan I got a GoPro 10 for Christmas u the first video I found on it wanna get the book think I have a 4/5 GoPro u had to use a waterproof case do not sure was ages ago . So what I wanna know is there a remote that will work when I wanna take videos or photos or is there a Bluetooth selfie stick cos when it long u have to reach over to press the buttons it’s annoying. I don’t like the way u have to open it broke a few nails just trying to open it hubby gets it right. I was trying to find something for Christmas I wanted then we were looking at a few different cameras for filming and photos and went with the GoPro cos I wanna capture our daughter growing up and it also easy for her to use too, still have to play with the different settings cos I didn’t have the right so card when I got it the guy gave me a 64 gb so can’t do much but I got a better one so far looking to get a even higher one hubby got a drone so any tips would be useful thanks Can u download to ur iPad with it or do u have to use a laptop the app that u download still clueless about it

Hello, just seeing this video and learning about my Go Pro hero 10 Black and wanted to download the book on Apple Books, but don’t see it available for purchase. Is Amazon my only choice? TIA!
Thanks for this information . I have a question to say , does it have a sleep mode function after finishing touching the screen or it have to be only auto by its self ? I am asking to protect waste from the battery . Thanks
Thanks a lot man! I plan to use a GoPro in the near future for my game hunting videos on my other channel, Magbo Gaming. It can help with the overview of the store too and other places I travel.
Looking to buy my first gopro for motorbike notice gd reviews on hero 7 any advice for 8,9,10? Looking just to use on motorbike so need good waterproof and battery thanks
LOVE this video and others like it. So cool when an obvious expert breaks it down to the basics without talking down to us newbies! Heading to Key West with my first ever GoPro-Hero 11-and will be reading your book on the flights.
Do you have any videos about HEVC? Went to adjust settings on my go pro and it popped up a box saying the computer must be able to support HEVC. Looking on the Internet it's looking like it's something I download and add into premier. But where do I get it form how to I put in premier I have no idea
I've heard a lot about the latest model shutting down if you record for a long time in a warm climate. Are those reports accurate? Could I take a 30 minute video in 100F temperatures?
Hi, Yes, all of the GoPro cameras will get hot when recording in high video resolutions and frame rates. The Hero 10 is no exception. If you need 30 minutes of continuous recording in 100 degree heat, you will need to use a lower resolution. The other alternative if you want full resolution videos is to pull out the battery and use an external power source. The camera won't get as hot as quickly without the battery in there.
*[GoPro Hero 7 Black]* Why does my battery discharge even after completely turning the camera off (holding the power button until the camera beeps rapidly and the red LEDs flash)? Is there a way to completely shut off the camera to stop the battery draining or does the camera always use some amount of power if it installed?
So when you hit the shutter button after recording, when you hit it again do you pick off where you left off on your video or does it restart a whole new video?????? Anyone knows this??
Wow Jordan, great video and i saw something very interesting in your video @10:10 that doesn't work for me at all; i also tried an original apple usb-c to lightning cable to transfer vids to my phone but nothing happens, do i have to set something up first?
Hi Leon, It should work straight out of the box. Nothing pops up though. When you go into Photos, the only thing different is that you should see that little "Import" icon. Once you tap on that, you can see the files on the microSD card and choose to import them.
Great information! I'm about to buy a Gopro 10 to use when I'm riding dirt bike. How resistant to scratches are the lens and screens? I can see that there are tempered glass film for the lens, and front and back screen to protect them. I also saw some silicone casings. Is it a good idea to use this when riding dirt bike?
Hi there. Great questions! As far as the lens cover, it's pretty resistant to scratches and I recommend just using it as is. If you do end up scratching it or breaking it, you can buy a replacement cover from GoPro. The front screen is not very scratch resistant. The back screen is a bit more resistant. The best option for protection while dirt biking is a silicone sleeve. The other option, which is going to give you the most protection, for example if you are riding sand dunes, is to use the Protective Housing with the Skeleton Backdoor. Hope that helps buddy!
I have put a temperd lense protector on mu hereo 10, am thinking I shouldn't of now, after watching this vid, have I damaged the anti water resistant on the lense now, and if so could I apply the liquid to the lense protector you spoke about thank you
great tutorial thank you! I love how I can wear a go pro and how stable it is but the sodtware is a horrible nightmare and I cannot connect to windows 11 to upload videos. I cant believe so many film and tv shows use go pro when it has such a high corruption file rate and you can lose all your footage easily
So, I hope this isn't a dumb question... I used my Hero 9 for the first time last weekend. When I uploaded the videos to my laptop, the audio came out fine, but no video. What's the cause of this and how do I fix it???
Lol I went ham. They are doing silly sales right now and if it’s your sign up you get the 10% as well. Ordered the hero10 maxed out with cases and mounts for the SUP board. Even the mouth one lol can’t wait to look a goober for the shot. Then I was like. Well. I got two mounts for the board. Might as well get this max, I’m not getting the new one later this year at full price so a max at 340 when it’s been 500 plus tax all this time, signed up for that one two. Scared due to the No cases and just assumed “protected” lol , like I said, ham. Saved 700 tho is what the tab said at the bottom.

Would a go pro be good for filming video for a Family a vacation like Disney theme parks etc?
Thank you for the great video.
That message about a giveaway was not from me so please don't give them any information! The person is trying to scam people using my name and has been reported to RUclips. Please disregard that message. It is a scam! I am so sorry about this- it's terrible.
@@JordanHetrick Oh I’m very aware. Haha.
Thanks
Hi Mario,
Yes, it has a sleep setting for both of the screens. You can set them to sleep after 1, 2, or 3 minutes or never.
Thanks a lot man! I plan to use a GoPro in the near future for my game hunting videos on my other channel, Magbo Gaming. It can help with the overview of the store too and other places I travel.
You're very welcome! A GoPro is a great filming tool!
Can you provide a link to the Hero 10 lens cover that you mention at 9:05? I have a Hero 9.
Thanks for the information! Hope to use some of the tips!
You're very welcome!!! My pleasure!
Thank you so much for the comment! Have an AMAZING time. How fun!
How do you keep them from overheating and turning off when 80° outside?
Anyone know when the enduro battery will be available to buy in Europe. When I log into the go pro website it won't let me purchase this item
How long does it take to charge a battery?
Do you have any videos about HEVC?
Went to adjust settings on my go pro and it popped up a box saying the computer must be able to support HEVC. Looking on the Internet it's looking like it's something I download and add into premier. But where do I get it form how to I put in premier I have no idea
Is Xclear the same as rain-x? I.e., can you use Rain-X on the GoPro?
this thing is awesome when used in a lake
I've heard a lot about the latest model shutting down if you record for a long time in a warm climate. Are those reports accurate? Could I take a 30 minute video in 100F temperatures?
Hi,
Yes, all of the GoPro cameras will get hot when recording in high video resolutions and frame rates. The Hero 10 is no exception. If you need 30 minutes of continuous recording in 100 degree heat, you will need to use a lower resolution. The other alternative if you want full resolution videos is to pull out the battery and use an external power source. The camera won't get as hot as quickly without the battery in there.
I have been recording for my RUclips channel in Mexico at 4K 60 and have not had any overheating problem yet
@@JordanHetrick I didn't know this was possible! Thanks!!!
Pls make a video on how to use the various accessories that come with the Gopro…
That would be great!
Hi Leon,
It should work straight out of the box. Nothing pops up though. When you go into Photos, the only thing different is that you should see that little "Import" icon. Once you tap on that, you can see the files on the microSD card and choose to import them.
Doesn't work for me either. Iphone XS - Hero 9. Both up to date with original apple usb c to lightning cable
You need to invest in a decent PC with a processor higher than an Intel i5 for video transfer and editing. Don't go cheap.
Great video for us beginners
Nice! Thanks for watching!
@@JordanHetrick Thank you for your answers!
I have put a temperd lense protector on mu hereo 10, am thinking I shouldn't of now, after watching this vid, have I damaged the anti water resistant on the lense now, and if so could I apply the liquid to the lense protector you spoke about thank you
Hello, thanks for this video! Can you tell me that it uses SD card please ?
Hi, Yes it uses a microSD card and there are links int he video description for compatible cards.
Thanks was worried it was going to be a Ballache moving files to 0hone couldn't pair so cable may be answer to get my footage to u tube
thank you .that was helpful
Gopro tip try not to take the lense off your GoPro camera because moisture can get stuck in there and mess up the camera
😂😂😂😂😂
Why tf would you take it off
I LEARNED A LOT CHEERS, JORDAN :)
great tutorial thank you! I love how I can wear a go pro and how stable it is but the sodtware is a horrible nightmare and I cannot connect to windows 11 to upload videos. I cant believe so many film and tv shows use go pro when it has such a high corruption file rate and you can lose all your footage easily
Nice video 👍.. thanks 🙏
So, I hope this isn't a dumb question... I used my Hero 9 for the first time last weekend. When I uploaded the videos to my laptop, the audio came out fine, but no video. What's the cause of this and how do I fix it???
So I own x7s black, every time I upload a 1080 video to RUclips it looks degraded, was that improved in GP10 ?
nice job dude, thank you for walking us through the beginning ways to utilize the go pro to the fullest. youre awesome brother!
Saved 700 tho is what the tab said at the bottom.
good info
