That was locked. This ride is Shiekra at Busch Gardens Tampa. It is an older B&M dive coaster. These rides use a ratchet restraint. There is a cylinder, with gear like teeth at the point of rotation. There are four steel pins on each side that spring into the cylinder to keep it in place. There will be a little bit of wiggle room between two teeth, but the restraint is still locked. This ride also has safety sensors that check if each restraint is locked, and the ride is programmed so that it literally can’t move from the station unless all restraints are locked.
Yeah youre dumb as hell I am a B&M mechanic for roller coasters and that’s impossible for your ride to have an unlocked restraint and you to have even had moved 1 inch from the station
It's locked. Look at the give on the belt. Restraints lock at specific intervals. You got a good ride- space to move and feel all the forces of the ride without being squeezed in.
Lol. But seriously though. He’s fine. The operator would’ve known if the restraint wasn’t locked properly. Most trains won’t let you dispatch if one restraint isn’t locked.
i literally worked at busch gardens and at sheikra along with tigris and all rides there are programmed to not go until all restraints and everything is green and has a check otherwise the buttons in the panel room won't work at all.
Roller coaster restraints don't lock to keep yourself in. They unlock. The default setting for a restraint is down. It actually requires pressure to un-"lock," not to stay secure. Unlock- Secured. Locked- Open
That is locked, it is called a ratchet restraint. A pin holds it in place so int can not be put at what ever spot you want like hydraulic restraints. Even if it were to come undone the seatbelts connected to the harness would keep it down until the ride was over. The train is only able to dispatch out of the station when all of the restraints are locked.
As long as the seatbelts are on, it is almost impossible to fall off on the ride, + the fact that your restraint was mostly on, which is good enough to get you some air during the coaster while also being safe.
bro that is locked lol roller coasters are safer than cars. it wouldn't have even left the station if it wasn't locked. You were completely safe. This has happened to me on Montu and Kumba. The restraint doesn't come down all the way but still is locked and completely safe. I just got really good airtime lol
Roller coasters (well most modern ones) have safety features that show what seats need to be locked and it will not launch if not locked. If your seat wasnt locked you wouldn't be up there.
It is locked. Just because it can move further in doesn’t mean it isn’t locked. It’s only a problem if it can move further *out* from its normal position.
If the bar actually became loose you wouldn't fall out because something would keep you on the roller coaster you couldn't fall out because whatever it is it will fight gravity enough to keep you in the coaster so you can ride safely
Smart comment section, they usually just take the route of the RUclipsr because roller coaster seem dangerous to everybody for some reason, even though they would have been shut down decades ago.
That happens to me on rides sometimes it is locked it’s because when you pull it down sometimes it’s about to make it to the next click but it didn’t so it goes up a bit.
@@ThoseFortniteKidsValravn* is not on an island. It is on a peninsula because there is a thin strip of land connecting with the shore. An island is completely surrounded be water 😊
This is why most rollercoasters come equip with a seatbelt or some belt to hold the restraint in for extra security in case something like this happens.
Not completely true, most seatbelts are there just for peace of mind and add little security. (These belts are also an extra measure to see if they are locked, if they weren’t the belt would have no slack at all)
So that happened to me on the Incredible Hulk roller coaster but it is normal. So the restraints on these rides can have two seatbelts. The two seat belt ones are for bigger people that can still ride.
Actually, the goofy side of coaster thoosies pray for stuff like this. I’ve learned over the years after riding a bunch of rides and becoming a ride operator that it feels idiotic to do that stuff. But people still try to do it.

Correct, the rides PLC makes it impossible to dispatch. A rachet system is used, nowadays its a hydraulic restraint.
Not to mention the seatbelt still has some slack on it which means that it’s locked but just loose

The restraint IS locked. If it wasn't locked, the coaster wouldn't be moving.
If the bar actually became loose you wouldn't fall out because something would keep you on the roller coaster you couldn't fall out because whatever it is it will fight gravity enough to keep you in the coaster so you can ride safely
that is locked and its made to be like that so you feel the airtime on the drop
I’ve sat in this seat before, it is for larger people and therefore it seemed to “not be locked” even though it was fine
It’s locked, it just has room between each locking position

Thats a double belt so it's locked it's because it's made for bigger people (don't get offended)

its a gopro

They can’t dispatch a train if a restraint isn’t locked. Also sometimes the restraint has a little give of movement when you do that.
Its locked and youll feel more air time with a little wiggle room
That was locked and there is no way you were able to pull out your phone so that’s a big safety issue
Had that happen to me too..
What? The restraint just being a little loose?
