Been to this spot twice and it is by far my favorite place to get geodes next to Palo Duro. It is very remote and the road is more of a trail but overall Dugway is definitely a bucket list spot.
I dig the no dig approach to rockhounding, 99.9% of my personally sourced rocks have been surface finds. But in the same breath some of my rocks that have been dug out of the ground are some of my best in my collection😜😜😜 Also no matter how interesting a video you make with all those cool rocks n fossils, Hamilton always steels the show hehehehehehehe😍😍😍
Wow you found some great stuff out there. And you are going to know what you have when you go home. Unlike the full thundereggs. Those you don't know until you cut them, if they are any good! But Dugways are usually, always good. Some better than others though! And you didn't mention that dugways are UV reactive. At least the chalcedony is. They all glow fluorescent green! It's pretty awesome! Thanks hunting guide Jeff! You always have the best information about hunting rocks for us! Thanks Jeff!💕
Thank you so much, and I meant to mention the UV thing. I probably shot it, then forgot to edit it (I get so excited about dugways I forget to do stuff LOL) .... also sneak preview, I'm in Colorado and tomorrow I may be shooting some fluorite and tourmaline videos ... shhhh don't tell no one LOL
Chalcedony is a member of the quartz family it's actually cryptocrystalline so essintly super fine quartz crystals all grown together it has sort of a waxy luster and feel to it. It's really cool stuff it's slightly softer than regular quartz which makes it easy ( well for those that can) for carving
JMO There's a BUNCH at this location that get broken or cracked and filled with mud that people just totally disregard. Most are not A grade but with just a little cleaning and or cutting and polishing lots of them clean up nice I think. 10:55 is definitely one with lots of potential. Totally worth doing some surface collecting. Good luck tomorrow man!
Nope it's a free to dig spot, however the roads can be a little rough and not great cell service so just go slow , but it is free camping which is pretty awesome also
@@huntingrocks Thank you so much for sharing! I really want to go. Can you tell me what the black Crystal's in a geode is!? It was one I opened with a small chisel a few years back and they're definitely small black Crystal's with clear Quartz as well.
Hmmm, that I am not sure it could be goethite, which is a fairly common iron mineral usually found in quartz geodes ( this includes amethyst and Citrine of course)

I have never tried Palo Duro. I'm gonna have to do a little research on it and check it out.

That pale blue color is so beautiful.
How do you identify chalcedony?

@@huntingrocks it’s like Haunted Ridge 😂 locals only pick up the best
Silly billys leaving some pretty nice pieces behind, but all the better for you😉 They are very beautiful, love the colours
