Wes Borland, the guitarist of Limp Bizkit, has a very creative style, going from the cleanest of cleans to the heaviest of heavy. This video focuses on some of those extremely clean, delay filled riffs that he seems to love so much. This list is not trying to match tones or delay settings, it's simply about the riffs.
I created all of the backing tracks, if anyone was interested to know.

Wes is kind of an underrated guitarist honestly. He doesn't try too hard and he has fun with it which leads to interesting results.
Agreed! Thanks so much for checking it out!!
He's not underrated at all to true experienced guitarists and musicians who know and hear his talents. He's got so many true fans and followers and influenced so many up and coming musicians, myself included.
Wes is one of my favorite guitarists of all time, and underrated af
frusciante-esque
Wes is still one of my favorite guitarists from the whole Nu Metal era. He was one of the guitarists that inspired me to pick up the guitar in first place. His transitions from clean to heavy groovy riffs are so incredible. Limp Bizkit was my favorite band ever in my early teen years. Although I don`t love them as much as I used to, the "Chocolate Starfish..." album will always have a special place in my heart❤. And I still think that Limp Bizkit is getting WAAAAY too much hate😒
Well said! Very similar story here also. Thanks for checking out the video, I appreciate it. 🤘😎
I totally agree. Always thought Wes was way underrated.
Brother Wes pushed guitar playing to the maximum and you won't sse anything like it ever again. He's alien.
I'd have to agree with you! Well said!!🤘😎
Wes was the sound.
He comes up with some amazing stuff, that's for sure! 🤘
Hard to say that, the bass and drums were pretty crucial for the sound too
WES BORLAND is one of the 10 most creative guitarists of the world's music HISTORY FOR ME.
YES I SAID IT! 👆🏻
This guy is a genius. Period.
It's all about the riff. Very memorable. Thanks so much for watching. 🤘😎
I agree!
Without effects it doesn’t sound that good imo.
My way is similar to Panteras outro from Floods
This sounds very Bucketheadish
Super creative an original but simple at the same time. Love it.
Wes has a cool style, that's for sure! Thanks for watching! 🤘😎
If you're thinking of making this a series, I'd absolutely love to hear some sweet Opeth clean riffs. 🔥🔥
That's a great idea! I appreciate the suggestion! 🤘😎
@@blackoutstudiospei along those lines Pantera would be a great one as well, dimebag didn’t have very many clean riffs but the ones he did have were cool 🤘
@@bauerca3263 You are absolutely correct. Great suggestion. 🤘
His guitar & River's bass is a match made in heaven. Just like Matt Osman & Richard Oakes of Suede or Tom Morello & Tim Commerford of RATM
Wes does tend to get a lot of credit, and he should, but Sam gets overlooked in a big way. He's a great player and his bass parts are so important to the sound of LB.
Man his creativity is legendary!!! Got to be one of the best!!! In my eyes he is amazing!!
You're certainly not wrong! 😉 Thanks so much for checking it out! 🤘😎
Underappreciated riffs!
Wes is such a creative player.
Thanks for watching everyone. These videos are a lot of fun to make.
I'd love to hear your band/ artist suggestions. Leave them in the comments.

This was excellent, nicely done. Wes has created some of the most memorable guitar parts.
Thanks for the kind words! I agree, Wes is extremely creative. It's difficult to do as he would do it. 🤘😎
Perfect!
Thanks, I appreciate that. 🤘
This was such a pleasure to listen to and watch. Such nostalgia. Excellent work. I love the My Way solo so much. Re-arranged is so genius, but slightly simple. Wes is so intelligent. You forgot "Don't Go Off Wandering" 😜 I love The One also... one of my favorite tracks ever.
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! I truly appreciate it! 🤘
Awesome!
Clean as a whistle my man 🔥
Thanks dude! I appreciate you checking it out!
Loved the riffs! Your close ups were great! Nice guitar! Great playing!🤘🏼
I appreciate the kind words. Thanks for checking it out. 🤘😎
Good god, Re-Arranged was sick, man! That tapping, so creative.
I played some Limp Bizkit lately, and posted the "high part" of It'll Be Okay in my channel.
I just had a look! Great job man! 🤘
Wes is marvellous thanks🎉🎉
Thanks for checking it out! 🤘😎
This is beautiful
Thanks for checking it out!
Awesome man!
Thanks dude. I really appreciate that! 🤘
Great Tone. Legendary Creative Riff 🤘💥
Appreciate you checking it out. 🤘😎
2:47 Take a look around. 🤟🤟🤟 ❤️
🤘😎
This is so cool 😁
Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate it. 🤘😎
Allways love Wes clean's!
I fully agree. One of my favorites! 🤘
@@blackoutstudiospei he influenced me a lot on my playing and in the use of delays
@@cigano666 Also a huge influence in that dept for me as well. Always loved that sound. Delay is fun!
Thanks ❤ 🤘
Thanks for checking it out. I appreciate it. 🤘
Incredible melodic and fun to play, he is a child in his 6 strings sandbox ❤❤
Very well said! 🤘😎
this is fire
Thanks for the kind words! 🤘😎
Awesome 👍
Thanks for checking it out. I appreciate it! 🤘😎
You almost forget how classic some of these riffs are
There are so many!! Maybe a part 2 sometime... 🤔 . Thanks so much for watching! 🤘
@@blackoutstudiospei Please do PART 2 🙏
Great video. Great Playing. I just want to add that I don't think you can count Take A Look Around, since it's basically the Mission Impossible theme.
True, but you have to admit it sure is a cool riff when Wes plays it! Thanks for watching. 🤘😎
nice cover!❤
Thanks so much!
Livin it up is the best riff
It's definitely a great one. Thanks for taking the time to check it out! 🤘😎
Отличное видео! Спасибо автору!!
Thanks for watching! 🤘
This was rad. Outstanding job my friend, we fellow Shred Heads Salute you 🫡.🎸🤘Also a beautiful PRS, fellow PRS Shred’r. Borland’s Cleans are perfect. I recommend doing a follow up, plenty more clean tones. Such as from the EP with Wes, then Gold Cobra especially; plenty of clean tones including on the bonus tracks. Then cool ass ones off LB Still Sucks. Respects 🤘🎸🤘
Wow thanks so much! I really appreciate the kind words! I certainly think a follow up would be a great idea also! Which PRS are you playing? 🤘😎
Обожаю Wes Borland, он гитарист который пошёл своей дорогой
образы у него вавще агонь))
Молодец!👏👍🤘
Wes genious
He is very creative. 🤘
Nice demo of all those cool riffs. Now I just have to figure out how to set me DL-8 pedal to get a similar sound. Is it basically the same type of delay in most of those intros?
I didn't really try to match exact delays with these ones, so the delays on the actual songs will be different. Thanks for checking it out! 🤘
🥰🥰👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊
For my opinion wesborland is number 1 for me
Wes the best on the world
loved this!!! strings looks super heavy, what gauge are you using?
Great eye! The gauge is .014 - .068 on a 27.7" scale baritone. Thanks for taking the time to check it out. 🤘😎
@@blackoutstudiospei nice!! I’ve been debating getting a 7 string or a baritone.
Shh!!! What's the sound!!!
🤘😎
Wow, you are so talentous!
Thanks so much for the kind words!!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
elegante , homie.
Thanks, I appreciate that! 🤘
Wes borland 🖤 💀 🎸 love him
🤘😎
Where's the guy that says Wes was an underrated guitarist?
sonically bizkit needed no more guitar, the ability to blend in and play in the pocket is the magic
I agree completely, well said! 🤘😎
❤️🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶❤️
крутейший гитарист,частенько слушаю минуса лимп бискит и вслушиваюсь именно в гитару,звучит охренительно!
not bad) but Wes`s delays are more complex and you should work on your time feel)Good luck!
Thanks for the tip. Not trying to be Wes, that's for sure. Just jamming through some cool riffs. 🤘
He like those Sus chords .
Can I have the backing tracks please ?
What kind of effects does he use?
Wes always had a giant pedalboard. Loads of delays and other fun things. I don't have the effects set up just like his, but this did the job for this riff video. Thanks for watching! 🤘😁
I think “it’ll be ok” is one of his greatest clean riffs. And are all these in C# standard?
That is an awesome riff, I agree. I think the majority are in C# standard, as that was a Wes staple. There could be a couple in there that are different, but it's been a while so I really would have to revisit. 🤘
is there melodic parts of wes...?
The only thing I think you should work on is the timing. Part of what Wes defines clearly as a guitarist is the fact that he is very precise on the riffing and the timing, always on the beat, and he does all that like, moving his body all around.
This could be an improvement, but you did great
Thanks for the advice. I appreciate you checking it out! 🤘😎
Hot Dog needs more Q and the delay set to 440ms. Livin it up riff is missing some notes. No sex has too much Q. The One tone is very nice, but also needs delay set to 440ms. Hold On is on spot.
Good job but a bit room for improvement ;)
Great points. Maybe I'll do a video dialing in actual tones sometime. Could be fun. Thanks for checking it out.
3$BY & a little of Significant Other had Wes's tapping & introduction to the Bass/guitar thing that is NOT a tenor but after Chocolate Starfish up until present he Floyd rose'd out of his damn gord.
That 4 string thing was pretty interesting, and you are absolutely on point. Once he started using that Floyd, he REALLY wailed on that thing. HoT Dog is a prime example. 🤘
What guage are they, look like Bass 6 strings.
Guitar is a baritone. The gauge is .014 - .068. 🤘
Do one No effects
Hasbulla has been talking shit about wes borland!😮
RIP Rob Waters
What’s the effect in No Sex????? Phaser?????
I'm not sure what exactly Wes was using in the original, but I put a bit of auto wah on there.
@@blackoutstudiospei it must have been his EHX Q-Tron auto Wah that’s always on his pedalboards, I thought it was either an auto Wah or a phase 90
Техника хромает, но снято красиво, лайк)
Who is the best wes borland or head
It would be difficult to actually pick one as "better." They were both incredibly creative guitarists, but certainly have different styles. Wes of course was the only guitarist in LB, where Head was one half of a duo with Munky. What do you think? 🤔
that clean part on my way has similarities to Pantera's Floods.
I can see it! Thanks for taking the time to check it out. 🤘
By clean you mean non distorted? I heard so many non clean effects
For me hot dog ...
You better check yourself Before you WRECK yourself 💔 💯
Tuning?
Which song?
how much limp bizkit changes for the worse without the proper drum sound. John Otto was pure fire in his prime
I couldn't agree more. Those grooves were so catchy. Every member brought something special to the band. 🤘
Nice, but try this... delay 472ms 1/8D
I may try to do some videos on that at some point. That might be fun. Thanks for the suggestion!!
Loved Limp Bizkit since childhood, but man it's a damn shame how many heavenly tunes Fred has ruined :D
😄
Delaynya kurang boss
Ну неее
Let the mink slip off...
Not bad, but there is a lot wrong with this. For starters the volume of the delays need to be a bit louder.
I appreciate the feedback! This one was meant to just focus on riffs, however you just might be on to something for another one. 😉
nookie please
Timing’s a bit off here and there, but good job nonetheless. Cool riffs.
Thanks for checking it out!
Eeeee🖤
Fyi. You wont be able to play any of these without delay and it sound right
Before making such a video, learn the tablature
Great sound but some of them are not quite right. Great overall job tho!
Thanks for checking it out! 🤘
не в моем сука темпе
So close but so far off. Missing the sting Wez has. Good work but...
Agreed. It's pretty tough to be Wes, unless you are Wes! He's one of a kind, that's for sure. Appreciate you checking it out! 🤘😎
Lets be honest guys.....wes is no where near the all time great guitarists
What’s your metric? Complexity or creativity?
@Chris Pyott I mean Eric Clapton, Jimmy page, eddy van Halen, slash, hendrix? Wes borland is a stud guitarist no doubt. But all his riffs are very similar and quite rudimentary. Easy to play and replicate
He's definitely not one of the shred guitar virtuoso types, but is extremely creative. His ability to write memorable riffs is top notch. He's awesome, but in a different way. I appreciate you checking out the video!!
Did he ever claimed to be? What if Clapton, Van Halen and Slash's music is boring, and Borland, Stephen Carpenter and Adam Jones' riffs are more interesting somehow? BTW, I've seen a lot of discussions about Slash's technique on reddit and elsewhere
@@AlexanDrMoskalenko Clapton shouldn’t even be on a list in my opinion. What did he do in terms of guitar technique or innovation that people still use today other than covering a Clapton song? Great guitarist sure, and good songwriter when he actually wrote the song. Slash isn’t all that important either really. And GnR and Clapton is boring to me. Not like Hendrix, and Van Halen, who without them who knows where we would be in terms of technical and innovative playing. They set standards that people in all genres of music that people still use to this day. Adam jones, Stephen carpenter, head and munky, and Wes Borland gave us sounds and tones that while they are simple in terms of technique, are still some of the most difficult to recreate. But it’s all in your own taste I guess. I’m a huge Pantera fan, and loved all of dime’s tones through the years, yet a lot of people think his tone was pure shit.
Playing good, but what is this stupid old grandpa's jacket? 😊
The guy in alley behind the music store said it was a tone jacket..... 🤷
Limp bizkit is the worst part about Wes.
Fix the delay timing and will sound much better for hotdog
I agree. I think I used the same setting for most of these to be honest, however, this was just about the riffs. I may dive into dialing in all of the Wes sounds in a future video. I appreciate the feedback. 🤘
More ghost notes brother!
Yeah, to get the exact sounds, Id have to mess around with delays more for sure. Maybe a future video....? Thanks for the feedback! 🤘
Just gotta chill some that delay a tad
Awesome!
Thanks for watching! I truly appreciate it! 🤘
