Wes Borland is seriously underappreciated. When Limp Bizkit is mentioned an eye roll always follows
It's because of Fred
But Fred Durst is a great man. Along with being in a band he has also been directing several movies which is slowing him down a little bit But, he still has his head in the game to create amazing energetic shows. I went to a Limp Bizkit concert the other day and I'm telling you now, Fred was amazing!
TheCrystal EagleGuitarAndGames lofl. Fred is a joke. He is
A piece of shit person even more so. I met him with my sister. He was at a bar b4 playing his gig and b4 they were known. He was making fun of a girl because he said she looked like she had Down syndrome. He then starting hitting on my sister with the most awful lines ever and she laughed at him. He called her a whore and walked away. He is not a good person. I’ve heard numerous stories that are very similar or worse from people who have met and worked with him. Wes Borland on the other hand is incredible and was super polite and even seemed annoyed with Fred
Brian Boyd have you ever stopped to think about at the bar that Fred was drunk? No? Didn't think so.
Have you ever stopped to think about that that was more than 20 years ago? he's a down to earth dude right now. Everybody has some little dick inside when young. Just another hater of the past. And yeah, i know that he was a douche back in the dau, but let it go, it was 20 years ago and he ain't a douche anymore. I even wonder if your daughter have several mental issues because of what he said more than 20 years ago (that i don't think so), or if she even think about that at all
Hey guys,
Thanks for the comments - I'll just say again - we do our vids by request now, because we get so many requests. We'd see both SOAD and Limp Bizkit be requested across numerous videos so we went ahead and did it!
+Rabea Massaad Cool, hope you guys have Johnny Marr and Smashing Pumpkins vids in the works. Their absence is quite palpable.
Cool. the viewers will enjoy it! on that note; do a sound like The War on Drugs?
Bea, if you shave your head, wear a pin stripe suit, slightly sway whilst looking shifty, you'd be every character from that game Kingpin long ago. Just a thought if your looking for an image change.
+Rabea Massaad I would love to see a sound like alexi laiho video
+Rabea Massaad You did a good job with this. I wouldn't consider them a band I enjoy, but that made watching your process even more interesting.
Wes Borland is a genius
Completely agree!
Fucking A right
Me to
Yep, he has that amazing energy too.
Dam skippy!
You guys are beast at these tone vids, binge watching them all !
bakerXderek Honestly so am I. Didn't expect to see you here, Cheha!
Think about how awesome it would’ve beef if Matt rapped in this.
Wes Borland has nice guitar tones, his riffs are pretty simple but they're really good for their musical genre. His work outside Limp Bizkit shows off a lot more of his ability.
Dang the It'll Be OK tone was spot on. Thanks for putting this together!
YES. I signed in just to make a comment about how happy I am that Borland is getting some love. Criminally underrated. Super visceral guitarist. Incredibly percussive and ambient being able to switch from one to the other to create tons of space.
yeah he is the boss, I'm glad rabea did riffs from significant other , just like this changed my life .
You should do a video Rabea VS Matt and both have separate rigs each £1500 or less and see who can get the closest sounding rig!
Keep up the great work.
sound like billy corgan?? he uses lots of pre amps live, so finding peds to match would be really cool, and his sound has changed a lot
*pedals
+Ninjacole please try to replicate the siamese dream tone without breaking the bank
People don't realize how big of a gear-head Wes is. His LB touring rig is massive (this video just only began to scratch the surface), but it complements his playing style perfectly. He really does know what he's doing. On the surface, it might not sound like much it might not sound complex, but when you listen to his guitar-ing, you start to realize how nuanced it is... and how much gear is involved.
Do a Sounds Like Jerry Cantrell please.
Yes.
Been asking for this for ages!!!!
yes
Yes!
yes
Can you guys do a sounds like Gojira?
yessir
+Adam Weaver Yes, someone else asking for Gojira, I've been asking for ages...
second this.
+Adam Weaver Jackson (preferably with SD humbuckers) + Peavey (preferably 5150/6505). I'm not sure about the price though.
Fuck me in the face, yes!
Im gonna request Origin Of Symmetry on every one of these videos till it happens
+TheOneWhoSpeaksTheTruth im already tired with MUSE requests, tak my job i will support you entirely
Really impressed you guys nailed the tones. Great to see Pevey making some great sounding amps again!
Sound Like Smashing Pumpkins!
+willcant quickscope YES
High output pups, Big Muff Pi, and a Marshally amp. Boom :)
+Aaron Black Not that easy to get that tone.
Spiri7ualShi7 Sure it is. Compare the intro to this- soundcloud.com/aaronblack-1/holdin-on -to the intro to Rocket. Not spot on but I wasn't even trying to mimic Rocket when I recorded it. Pretty darn close though. Just a little EQ tweak and we'd have been there. And that's humbucker into Big Muff into Marshall.
+Aaron Black In Rocket the sound of the fuzz is less raw that that, and there are like 5 overdubed guitars to make that wall of sound. The Muff is not clear enough to reproduce it live.
Sounds Like Machine Head would be interesting. I've never been quite able to figure out how to get that weird low tuning combined with that super crunchiness to sound right.
Same that would be dope to see
+metfan4l Very much; I don't even like them and I think it would be great!
+metfan4l I believe they use their 5150 'wrong' cleans on the 'red' channel and riffage on the 'green'. Robb swears by his old 5150s and plays Epiphone/Gibson a TON.
they tune to B standard or drop B but tune it like 40 cents sharp
Mahogany Body Guitar, Emg 81, Tubescreamer, Peavey 5150, Marshall 1960 cab. There you go :B
Matt Bellamy please!
Absolutely
+Dominic Young yes yes yes
+Dominic Young Would be incredible if they pulled off the MK Ultra tone
+Dominic Young For £1500, love to see them sort that one!
yes plz with sugar on top
I think the "My Way" tone was completely nailed
13:55 Gotta be the most nostalgic Limp Bizkit song
BY BUSTING THE BANK FOR THIS ONE WHEN?
2024, you prayers were answered, no caps.
@@GranTigerGamingnopeeee they just re done this video, not busting the bank at all😂
Sounds like John Petrucci. I would love to see that.
+DanLokar buh!
+DanLokar Yes!!
nooo!
+DanLokar yesssss
I think the only one that can do petrucci is petrucci himself
Special...You think your special Rabea.. and you are Baby!!! Man you guys slayed those riffs almost a perfect 10, except i am giving an 8.9 because of No black contacts , no body paint , no ceramic rabbit and NO NOOKIE!!!! lol great job
How to sound like Rabea without busting the bank.
Sound like Korn, show the 7 string some love
+DatPolishGuy i was thinking that watching another video lol SOUND LIKE KORN
Nailed it :)
Hahaha cheers man
Pete Cottrell do you like eating hungry jacks
“It will be ok” - one of the catchiest riff of all time.
Billy Corgan/James Iha would be sweet
Devin Townsend! Let's see someone different than all the obvious bands that people have already dissected their tones 100 times over.
Thank you for making these videos, it's been a huge help in tone sculpting and figuring out which pedals and which gear to use in combination to get tones.
Holy shit, Rabea was literally twice the man he is today. Good on him!
It would be cool if you could do a sounds like Ramnstein or Disturbed. Two killer bands who have wicked riffs and heavy hooks. Du Hast would be sick to hear played.
Seriously I think Matt Bellamy of Muse would be the ultimate challenge. So much different aspects of tone to look at.
How do you do a sound like Limp Bizkit without a single riff from 3 dollar bill y'all?
Angry Beard Man great album. Raw
Or even TUT P.1
Sour is what I always associated with limp's guitar work
Their ONLY album. Not "good", not "decent". For me, their ONLY ALBUM. Period.
They probably only had $2
Didn't Wes also mess around with 4 string (or was it 5?) guitars for a bit?
Also, please do Deftones.
he had a custom 4 string guitar made in F/F# standard for nookie, it's in the video too
+Ned Flanders also used bartiones ALOT on Significant Other :)
He uses a weirdly tuned 4 string with a F# bass string on about 6 released songs and a few unreleased songs. On later (post-return/post 2006) songs he used a few other weird tunings too.
One of my fav Sound Like ever and you guys nailed it!
Who wants to hear a sound like Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead?
yeaaa!!!
Yaaaaaasssss
Yup would like to hear especially as their new album is out
That's a bit broad considering their sound changes all the time
From the bends era please
Wes Borland's a great guitarist. But it's a pet peeve of mine when people say "I like Limp Bizkit except for Fred Durst." That's like saying you like meatloaf except for the ground beef! Yes, Borland is the oats that hold the whole thing together and Otto's the ketchup that gives it all a great taste. But without the ground beef you just have a hunk of onions, ketchup, and oats. The beef is the heart and soul of the dish and Fred Durst is Limp Bizkit.
amen
+CaptPostmod The singer is never the ground beef of any band.
Kornholic Yeah. Van Hagar was equally as good. #sarcasm
Kornholic let's try to imagine Soundgarden without Cornell...Oh wait let's not.
+TMmodify I'd rather listen to Soundgarden without Cornell than with him. Can't stand his singing. Maybe I didn't make my point clear enough. What I meant was that the instrumental section is the bread and butter (in this case the ground beef) of the music.
THANK YOU !!! Rabea and Matt, for reminding me about limp bizkit, and "introducing me" to Wes. I was into Limp bizkit before I played guitar so I'm keen to learn some.
Also thanks for sounds like System of a down - another favourite
Sound like Korn!!
YES
Yeah!
this would be great for a guitar tone and a bass as well considering fieldy has a very unique tone.
Well yeah that's true though I find he made a style popular in the 90's . Most nu metal bands copied his bass style. I think he's highly underrated.
Stewie Ashy Meh
Now that you have a "sound like limp bizkit," when are ya'll gonna do a "sound like nickelback" episode? hahahahahahaha
sound like hendrix without busting the bank
SOUND LIKE RAMMMMMMMSTEINNN PLSSS
its easy. Bass to 7-8, Gain to 10, Volume max (lol), treble 4-5. And use a Seymour Duncan Invader and a tube amp
@@thelespauldude3283 actually true...
@@incognito9292 mesa is a tube amp
Sound Like Van Halen - Without Busting The Bank
Weird looking back at these vids and seeing giant Rabea! So proud of how far he's come in terms of bettering himself and his health
Mike McCready and Stone Gossard! Please!
At 3:19
That super chorused "uh"
Beautiful.
Brady Brignac lol
How about: Sounds like RAMMS†EIN
‡ GASH ‡ First thought: ESP RZK-2
But that's somewhat too expensive. So, LTD EC-1000 with Floyd and EMGs and something in the realm of Mesa. For Richard. For Paul, no idea...
Do they still make richards silver and white signatures or just the burnt ones? and you could probably just use any kind of les paul with emgs for paul or richard really
I think ESP just makes the burnt one. But yeah, any LP style guitar with EMGs and Floyd Rose should work

Sounds like Matt Bellamy PLEASE
Limp Bizkit blew up the same year that I graduated from high school. Band of my generation
Do CKY next. Those guys write good riffs and have unique tone.
yes! I'm with you on that one
Who's CKY?
*I remember the time that Limp Bizkit played that Sunoco parking lot in Dayton, Ohio. Great show yo. I hear it's going down again on the 1 year anniversary of the show (4/20/17) **#Sunocochella** **#ItsReal*
Would it be possible for you guys to bring the actual artist in for an episode? Give them the same budget, and see what they can come up with.
That would probably be very difficult to arrange, but incredible to watch!
Haha great idea. "Sound like yourself - with "
Do a sounds like Korn,
Sound like Architects? Special video for their new album release
Guys, loads of people have been mentioning matt belamy for weeks. I think you'll have to really scrimp on the guitar and amp to leave shit loads of budget for effects - Good luck fitting a Kaos Pad into your budget!
ibanez rgkp6
My Marshall DSL100HR does everything, it's the most enjoyable amp I've ever owned. It doesn't surprise me you kept coming back to them even if it was the older version.
sound like killswitch engage?
oh the cheeky little smile when he play break stuff haha everyone has that child like feeling when playing that song haha
Sound like Billy Gibbons!
Wes was always so much better than people think. He’s inventive, Black Light Burns was his career highlight.
Please sound like Alex Lifeson or Ritchie Blackmore!!!!
Wes is one of my favorite if not my favorite guitarist
sounds like the stone roses/ john squire! theyve just released a new single, would be fitting
It was a serious choice to make this video. I did think it was a joke. I do like Wes however but wow..such a reach. Love you guys
Sound like Matthew Bellamy/Muse!
I could not agree with you more
yes please
Some of the sounds like series can be a bit hit and miss but this one is outstanding. You guys did a great job catching Wes Borland's tone and it definitely helps with Rabea having that Borland-inspired understanding of the riffs and style.
Sounds like Johnny Marr
Sounds rad gentlemen. I too, was skeptical about the 6505+ but it works.
Sound like Eric Johnson please!
sent shivers from yesteryear down my spine, amazing. deftones next for sure
Do a sounds like avenged sevenfold video
Matt Guerrero YES!!!
Wes Borland also played Cremona guitars, he used one of them on Chocolate Starfish album and also you can see the guitar in "My Generation" video
Cky next?
YES!
+NAPLAVA that would be perfect!!
Awesome job on the tone for the budget. Thought the vid was great and you played some of my favorite Borland riffs. Thank you!
That sound as a whole was pretty close to an all around Wes Borland sound.
Nice job.
wow...wes borland huh...each his own i guess...
+Denny van der Meulen Wes Borland was one of my biggest influences when it came to writing riffs - He has such a unique take on riffing than really helped me with my songwriting in the early days!
Rabea
+Denny van der Meulen whatever you think of Limp Bizkit as a band, Wes Borland is an incredible musician. In fact, all of the band members are. Well, almost all of them.
Borlands image is ruined by Fred Durst who I think is a good guy to be fair but people hate him for some reason
+Denny van der Meulen I think it's really easy to judge limp bizkit based on the way things went, speaking as someone who was in his late teens and into aggressive music back in the glory days of Limp Bizkit Borland really did have a huge impact on the way that I formulated my playing style and I think thats true for a lot of people of a certain age ^^. I'm really thankful to Rabea and Matt for making me feel half my age again, and also I quite fancy that Ibenez and I thought I'd never say that!
+DJ R2 Borland was the only good thing about Limp Bizkit imo
Thankyou guys, I was really hoping you'd do a sounds like Wes. And you nailed it!
Sounding like Limp Bizkit: Affordable.
Not sounding like Limp Bizkit: Priceless.
it really blows my mind how crazy close you guys got to so many of the signature sounds Wes has used over the years. I'd love to know what Clean Settings you were using...i personally love his clean tone
Sound like Mikael Akerfeldt?
Sound like Mikasa Ackerman
excellent job on this one guys very versatile rig and now i have to go out and get one of those ibbys like IMMEDIATELY!!
Sound Like Korn Please
This was probably one of my favorite "Sounds Like". Growing up with Limp, took me back.
PLEASE DO A "Sounds Like Billy Corgan" !!!
Naglstudio I dunno if you can dial in Corgan for that much. Maybe the early pumpkins sound.
You guys need to do Sounds Like Issues. I wanna see you guys get a djenty tone under a budget.
orange have quite good amps for that
and they can always release the kraken
Weezer
Alice in chains
Muse
Stevie Ray Vaughan
The Eagles
Pls :)
I would love to see you choose a LANEY VC 30 on one of your next "Sounds Like"!
sound like nickelback with out busting the bank
I f**kin' love you guys.. You gave science on how rockstars do it....
HOW TO SOUND LIKE TAME IMPALA!!!
how about a sounds like Soundgarden or audioslave
+James Parker I think they covered some of Audioslave's stuff in the "Sound like Tom Morello"!
Sound like Seether/Shaun Morgan!!!
I bought the ADmini as a small cheap delay to put on my board until I find something better. Decided to stick with it, it's suprisingly good!
Saw Wes Borland play mainly 6 string baritone guitars
You guys should make a video where Matt puts together an expensive rig with no budget limit and Rabea tries to create the same rig on a budget, then have a showdown comparing the two. Also a sounds like Pete Townshend would be nice.
Also sounds like Frank Zappa!
Impossible..
Always come back to this video! Sick to see they nailed wes's tone, only thing they got wrong is wes borland uses C# Standard mainly with the odd weird drop tuning/4/5 string guitars for some songs off of chocolate starfish and when he use to use his 7 string for one dollar bill yall.
people know that take a look around is the mission impossible theme right?
no shit because they made it for the mission impossible 2 soundtrack lol, people arent that dumb
Best series on youtube.
