DIY Beach Fishing Cart From Harbor Freight Hauls My Kayak
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 окт 2024
- I built a beach cart that mounts on the car, hauls gear, hold fishing rods, mounts on my kayak, stabilizes my kayak with its wheels and hauls my kayak around!! Oh yeah it also guarantees I will land big sharks from the surf! So far this cart has visited OBX and Isle Of Palms and it is still going strong! If you would like to see more details from this cart build message in the comments. Thanks to all the other people on RUclips who have built carts similar to this in the past, nice work and great idea!

I’m in the process of building my first cart. I like the ability to keep sand and fish out of my wife’s suv. Thanks
Pretty much exactly what I did haha! FYI my wife’s suv “Pearl” still got kind of fishy and sandy but better I’m sure
I love it, brilliant! Thank you too for filming the build out :-)
Wow, thanks! You’re welcome, hope to have a couple more videos of it in action in spring.
Great rig! Would love to see a breakdown of how you made it
Hey thanks! I’ll try to get up a video of some of the key points within the next couple weeks.
GREAT idea! This is exactly what I have been looking for! Got any details on construction? I have a couple HFs in the Charleson SC area, going to go get the hauler today to get started.
AWESOME bro, easy and simple
What's the handle made of? Great job on cart and video, but l need a little more info. on how to build and modify mine. Thanks and God bless.
Killer job, are you going to add more info on all the parts so other interested can start building?
Dude l, this is fucking amazing!!
Haaaaa. No hating here buddy. This is cool. Yes, do a build video. Tnx
Lol thanks!!

Going to build this myself. Would have liked to see you roll it across soft sand. Did you like the tire size Would you have gotten a different size tires.
Awesome I can try to put up another video with a bit more build detail soon, unfortunately the beach footage was auto deleted. I do like this size and think they are likely a bit better going through rough areas like truck ruts but I’m sure the slightly smaller ones would work great too. Getting the air pressure right made a big difference, I actually went too low at first. The air pressure just needs to be adjusted for the load.
What diameter hole is on wheel for axle? Did you say the tires are 13 in? Thanks. I want to order the correct wheels for my cart. Does Harbor frt. Have the axles.
Thanks! The handle is all pvc, the axle hole on wheel was just under 1” I used 3/4 conduit from hardware store for axle. 13” wheels should work well I have some linked in the description if that helps. I may suggest getting wheels and measuring before buying axle. Also here is a link to the other build videos. ruclips.net/p/PLF5HrTxe8NrSKYGUm_oVTeKb4YUNCrVFm&si=ub6enddt2bTNtOk7
Too cool. Love the beach cart. I’m going to build one like it and pretend it was my idea.
@@otaydad1 hahahaha thanks! Good luck!
I think it’s cool, I wonder about adding an electric motor
Haha I’m sure you could! Pulls pretty easy though too
😃 perfect !! I made a metal cart years ago and still use it but it's heavy when you load it. I also have a harbor freight cart for over 2 years and use when I travel. Just yesterday I went shopping for a cart and the one I wanted was almost $500. Thanks to you 😊 🙏 I'm going to make good 👍 use of my travel cart.
Oh that’s awesome!!! I hope I see another one of these on the beach someday!!
I'm commenting because I do hate you, but love your idea!
Haha thank you! I appreciate all the hate I can get!
Nice!
Absolute genius idea! Does not take up space in your vehicle AND carries additional gear! Love it. Can't wait to make this!
Thanks! Not my idea, just my take on it. Best of luck in your build!!
Nice 😂
lol
👍💯
Wow. Great thinking. I already have a HF aluminum carrier. I have been agonizing about which cheap cart to buy and then I found your video. I don't need the big wheels but I would like pneumatic tires as during the winter I night fish from a long wooden dock that has a light at the end. Hard plastic on the dock makes a lot of noise. Carrying rods, chair, tackle box, net, etc was very difficult until now. GGGRRRREEEAAATTT hack. Thanks again
Awesome!! Pretty simple build, let me know if you need any more info on it, good luck fishing!!
Awesome build! You've given me some ideas and probably saved me money to boot! I have need to carry two fishing Kayaks as well as it being convertible for pier fir fishing. Thanks!!!
Thank you! That’s great!! It works really good with the kayak, let me know if you need any other info or anything.
Awesome, I built one out of a harbor freight car carrier, but it wasn't for a fishing cart.
I use it for my Hauling business, I put wheelez on it with Diamond plate Alum on the floor and made it a flatbed carrier for moving items through the sand and grass. I like your idea , pretty cool
Oh that’s awesome, I’m sure there are a lot of uses for it. Thanks!
Holy crap dude. I actually have that harbor freight hitch cargo basket! I also have a ballon wheel folding cart. You just gave me a killer idea! Thanks so much for the video!!! Absolute genius. Will now be able to haul all my beach crap on the hitch… not in the car.
Awesome, thanks! Yeah it has works out nice!
Fantastic! Now I have to see your channel. But you deserve a like/sub just for them whiskers!
Hahaha thanks!! I need someone to talk me out of going just mustache, I just might take the leap!!
Awesome job! I've been looking to build one myself and this one really has everything I want in a fishing cart!
Thanks!! It has worked well so far, good luck!
Awesome job. will probably build one soon. try too. lol
great idea! Now I can build one for my sons. Thanks for sharing. They will have a smiley face Christmas now.
Thanks!
I am SOOOOOO interested!! Please make a DIY video on how you made this amazing contraption! Would you say it’s less expensive then just purchasing a Fishing Mate? I’ve seen ppl make them from PVC pipe as well. Thank you in advance! Great job!
Thanks! I think it was right around $250 to build. It was important for me to have one that would go in the hitch. I’ll try to get another video of it up shortly.
Could you show a pic on how it mounts to your kayak please
Is it a money saver to build rather than buying assembled?
It is a bit less expensive to build and I really wanted one that could mount on the hitch.
Came here after watching the assembly videos to try and learn where you got the wheels. Great job keeping everything concise.
Thank you! Might see if it can haul a mini bike this summer or new idea maybe the mini bike should pull it!
Both the cart and the video on how you built it are top of the class. Thanks for sharing what is arguably the best beach cart build out there.
@@HALLTOM wow! Thank you!
Dude this is sweet!!! I have actually been looking at variations of the Harbor Freight carrier carts and this is exactly what I was looking for. Nothing too elaborate and functional. I priced about $250 ish in parts when I was brainstorming before this video. I refuse to pay for the run of the mill carts overpriced. Thanks man!
Awesome! Glad you liked it man! It worked out really well, thanks!
I built one two weeks ago and it ran me right at $250. Works great!
Can't wait to try my cheap converted grocery cart plus a hundred bucks for amazon 1/2 " shaft and 12" wheels 5' wide , Put two PVC rod holders and hooks to carry table and chair. Enough room for cooler, tackle, three rod holders, and a ghost scrimp pump . "Hope it works" in the Gulf .It cost me about 145 bucks total. "Not pretty like yours , but what the hay Eh" !
@@freddyeltigre2327 that sounds awesome haha! Gotta bring home them groceries!!! Fresh fish for everyone!!
@@zekeshandles That's the plan ! I'll be at South Padre TX fishing the Gulf . "I love Pompano" whiting, for eating , the rest is a bonus.
Great idea Ive had the same hitch carrier collecting dust in the garage...not for long
Haha thanks! Good luck
Hey I have the same carrier and making a beac cart also, I extended my sides from the base of cart up to 14" high and I'm putting on the 16" beach ballon wheels. I am leaving the hitch bar on so that i can trnsport from my travel trailer bumper. I like your handles that is what i am working on next. With my sides of cart higher off the ground it will be easier to transport the kayaks. Gr
eat job!
Awesome! I made it so the rod holders on the cart actually slide up into the scupper holes in the kayak, it holds it in place really well. Good luck!!
Like the looks of your cart, appears to work well .👍
I really like your re
re ceiver hitch mount , I could really use one also !!
If you bought it , please send me notice where to purchase one . Good Job .K.I.U.
Thanks! The hitch hauler is from harbor freight, here is the rest of the build videos. ruclips.net/p/PLF5HrTxe8NrSKYGUm_oVTeKb4YUNCrVFm
havent thought of using that before. thanks, i enjoyed the video.
Thanks!
Amazing idea, what is the total cost when cart was completed. Thanks for share your video. God Bless.
Thanks, I believe it was around 250, I purchased used tires but Amazon has some pretty good new options now. Good luck!
Sorry I should have watch the hole video but still a great build and I'll be starting on my own but thinking of going four wheels. Thx
Awesome, thanks haha! 4 wheels will probably be even better, best of luck!
Yes I really appreciate your information I have been trying to come up with a plan to DIY beach fishing cart I would have no idea to search harbor freight for carts thank you sir
Excellent! Thank you for checking it out, good luck!
I’m building it
I hope I see one on the beach someday! Good luck!
this is genius! I have to get more info from you so I can build!
Thanks, I did post a few other videos of the build on my channel, just let me know if you need more info!
I hate that I don’t have one like yours. Pls post build video. Thx 😂😂😂
Hahaha thanks! Here is the link for the build, let me know if you need more info!
ruclips.net/video/zVQvhZA6Tqk/видео.html
Perfect I'm making one. What is the hole diameter of the tires and what size conduit fits the tire hole.....axle hole that is?
The axle holes in my wheels are 1” so I used 3/4” conduit. You will need to verify that when you purchase tires, some may be different. Good luck!
Nice job, plan on building one
I have this hauler but it’s slightly busted up, will see if I can rig it to work for FL, heading there next week
Nice, hope it works out for you! Good luck down there!
I like it, Love the way you have designed it to fit Reece hitch.
Thanks! It’s been pretty convenient for sure, better than loading inside the suv.
That's an awesome idea! I just happened to have one of those carrier and been looking at Beach Cart. i would love to know how you went about it. TIA.
Hey thanks! I just did some trial and error haha. I do have some other videos on my channel of the build and there are a couple other RUclips channels with similar builds out there. Let me know if you need any specifics
@@zekeshandles I'm watching your build video now. very cool!
Make a video!!!!
They're up! More to come in the future, let me know if you need any other details.
Fishing for comments. So I’ll leave one. There you go!! 😂
Haha Thanks fish, good luck out there!
Looks great. Thank you for posting. Oh, can you post plans?
Thanks!! The only plans I have are plans to catch tons of fish this year hahaha! I did make a couple more videos of the build and can try to get you any info you need as far as dimensions or anything
Nice to see you have multiple uses... great for small jon boat also .
Thanks, I’m sure it would work for a Jon boat, it has hauled me around a bit in the yard haha
I love it
Thanks! Currently in use in SC!
would you change anything if you were to build this cart again?
Good question! One thing I would change would be the adjustable bolts that hold the cart frame to the hitch. I would suggest grinding the unused threads smooth, it does hang up just a little sometimes when removing. That would also allow for a slightly smaller hole to keep it even tighter on the hitch. Overall it has worked well and better than expected under load while using as a cargo carrier.
WOW that's an awesome idea. Great job
Thanks!!
How does the handle hold up with full load??? I just built same setup , just haven’t added handle yet. Great build compared to $400 fish n mate Sr
Thanks! It does really well, can feel some flex but I’ve hauled adult humans in it no problem haha as long as weight is somewhat centered over axle you should be good to go
@@zekeshandles thanks Brother
Where did you get the wheels from?? Nice cart man.
Hey thanks! I got these wheels on eBay used but looks like there are some decent options on Amazon now.
Not bad not over done on rod holders, add couple of spikes front and back so it dont roll off if using for live rod holder
Thanks! If you have a bit of weight in cart (tackle gear etc) it actually digs into the sand pretty good when fish hits! But some spikes would be added security for sure!
Nice job. I will be doing the same thing but will have 4 wheels.
That should work even better, thanks
Dope
Thanks!
Sure make the video. MacGyver that shit bro!
Haha, he will always be the master! I did put up a couple videos of the build and will upload more in the future!
Great idea I would love to see the build video
Thanks! ruclips.net/video/zVQvhZA6Tqk/видео.html here is a link to a video about the build, I have a couple more on my channel, just let me know if you need any more info.
Awsome bro.. Would like a breakdown. Pls
Hey thanks! I did put together a few videos on the build, let me know if you need any other details. ruclips.net/video/zVQvhZA6Tqk/видео.html
cool, thinking outside the box.
Thanks!!
Please put together a detailed video! Thanks
Hey there Bart! Did you get a chance to see the other videos of the build on my channel? let me know if you need more info!
ruclips.net/video/zVQvhZA6Tqk/видео.html
Love this idea !
i just picked up that same Cargo carrier , Thanks for the Inspiration
Oh man that’s awesome! I wish you luck, hope to see another one out on the beach some day!
@@zekeshandles Ill be sure to post a video on here and on Insta for all to see
That would be great!
I am a service connected disabled veteran and I love this idea. I have problems walking on the beach already since I had 3 bones removed from my left foot and had my tibial tendon shorted. My left knee is also bad. I'm going to take you idea and put on 2 axles so I can not only have a beach cart but a simi walker. Look out fish I'm coming for you!😊
Thank you! 2 axles is a great idea for this cart, you should post a video when you make it! Good luck
What is the axle diameter? Im trying to figure out which wheels i need to buy.
amzn.to/42McSgC
The inner axle hole in wheel is about 1”, I used 3/4 conduit to go inside and 1” pvc on bottom of the cart.
Ingenious! I've spent the last couple of hours making of list of parts I'll need to build a cart like yours. Then I found your video... I'm changing my list! THANKS.
Hahaha awesome!! Thanks!
Great idea thanks for the video
You’re welcome, it was a fun project
Dope!! Catch another shark!
Thanks! I intend to haha!
That's a good idea with your beach cart maks it multi purpose. I have built 2 fishing carts 1 electric and 1 you just push it along.
Have a great day.
Choppersrule1
Thanks! An electric cart would be cool haha
Thanks mate drop by my channel and check it out.
Please show more details! I like the multi-purpose design. Hitch-mount is great. Simple and low cost.
Thanks! I did make a few build videos, I’ll link them for you. Let me know if you need any more info.
ruclips.net/video/zVQvhZA6Tqk/видео.html
I love it. So many things you can use it for and a lot cheaper than many other carts you see for just a beach cart. Think I would add a way to put a ground anchor when I'm fishing for big sharks, Hate to see it take off into the surf especially if I'm sitting on top of it! But I guess why you have a drag on the reel!
Thanks! It does dig in pretty well when you get a strike but I’m sure a decent shark would drag that thing to the deep haha
Do you have detailed plans?
I only have the build video playlist. No other written plans or anything.

Sweet cart. I like it. I believe I’ll make one. Not sure about the shark buddy though.
Thanks! Let me know if you need any other cart details. I’ll get my big shark someday haha
Please follow up with a how to video?
Okay I will! Any specifics that you are interested in??
Very cleaver. I like it. If I ever get a kayak in the future, as my fishing friend wants to, I'll keep this in mind.
Thanks! I hope to get a kayak demo video up in the spring.
I think this is awesome I’m gonna build one just like yours I’m serious thank you very much
That’s awesome! You’re welcome! Message me if you have any questions during the build. Have a good weekend
Do these wheels roll good on soft sand?
Yes they do roll really well on soft sand. The air pressure in tires makes a huge difference, they are made to have low pressure but if you run them too soft they don’t roll well.
I freaking hate this awesome idea. Seems to be pretty easy to set up and Carry around. Very good idea all around
Haha thanks! Hopefully I’ll get to use it again soon, so far so good
I have one of these I never used, it’s brand new, what a great idea, now that I’m into surf fishing this will be a great tool to use, great video,,,,,,, thanks
Awesome! Hope to see another. One of these on the beach some day!
where for some shark fishing?
I fished for shark in SC a couple times, made a bait deployment boat for it that ended up working pretty good, I’ll put a build video of that up by spring. Nothing over 5’ yet though.
That looks really good! It woud be nice to have a break down on the cost of the bilid. Those are really nice wheels! Where you get those?
Hey thanks! I did put a parts list in descriptions but will try to add prices next time I do a build. I believe it cost me around $250. I was able to get those (unbranded) wheels used on eBay but there are some decent options on Amazon.
THis is an awesome build! Exactly what I was looking to do, can you show a bit about how you built your handle, and how it fastens in and pops out and back in? your handle looks much better than most that I have seen ,and im struggling to figure out how to build the handle.
I havent purchased the balloon tires yet, I bought some cheap harbor freight ones, hoping they will be sufficient for this trip to FL, but I see another comment that they are terrible.
Hey Shawn, thanks!! I will try to film some of the handle construction more closely for you, it did take me a couple tries to figure out. It is nice the handle pops out easy and I can throw in cart. Yeah the tires are pretty key, wish they were cheaper! Good luck
Hey bro....I love you. Okay?
Haha thanks! I love you too!
Sweet show more on how you did it
Thanks! Here is a link to the build videos, let me know if you need any more info.

Very nice! Great build
Thanks! I’m heading to the beach with it Saturday, can’t wait! After a tire repair.
@@zekeshandles Good Luck! Hope you have a great time
Genius! Love it!
Glad you liked it, thanks!
Like the do it yourself
Thanks, it was a good little project!
I built one and used it the first time this week...much different from your version and used harbor freight tires... do not use! They felt like I had the brakes on as soon as I hit the sand lol actually worked awesome but using it for the family cart mine was loaded down and getting it back in the receiver was a bit frustrating so I will have to do something different for that next time..I did like how you totally dismount from the hitch plate that would save ankles and weight lol
That’s awesome! If you set it up like mine I would suggest grinding the threads smooth on the pins that hold it to hitch, mine hangs up a bit sometimes. Thanks!
Very good ! 👍👍👍
Thanks!
This is awesome!
Thanks!!
want to share the ebay link? i'm so reluctant to get wheeleez but every other option has horrible reviews
Unfortunately I bought them used. I looked at the sellers page and he doesn’t have anymore. I’ll let you know if I can come up with a brand.
Nice job. I’d love to see your video showing the build. Also list parts and sources
Thanks! I did add 3 build videos on my channel also, they have most of the parts listed in the description of the video. Let me know if you need anymore Igor. ruclips.net/video/zVQvhZA6Tqk/видео.html
great build !!!
Thanks! Can’t wait to use it again!
Do you live in Florida?
No, I live in New York. We visit family in SC and travel a lot though.
