Sadly he got disqualified for standing up for himself. His boundaries were not respected, and all he did was push the woman's phone down without touching nor wounding her. At the end Eurovision just tried to find a good excuse in getting rid of the Netherlands in the finals.
I hate that this happened. Sad excuse to get rid of the competition to the country they wanted to win. UGH
No. He just threatened her that he would do that if she didn't stop. As far as I know he never touched her or her phone/camera.
@@DeBennu That is really all he did.....greetings from Belgium Sandra Brouns
@@DeBennu He said: "You again? Next time I will slap you." After she made fun of his dead parents.
He never touched anyone or made contact with the camera. Just made a gesture to get it away from him.
JUSTICE FOR JOOST
☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻
He got violent and suffered consequences. Maybe they went to far with disqualification but still he swung towards a camera lady. Gotta be some kinda consequences.
@@Yasuee no, all the report (made by the police, the Dutch broadcaster and the EBU) said was that he did a "threatening movement", literally doesn't mention anything else. He could've made a motion that he was gonna push the camera, he could've stood up, literally anything. But never got violent.
The lady went against his wishes and broke the EBU rule by filming him without his consent, during an intimate moment
JUSTICE FOR JOOST
I think the best revenge is that his song is a big hit after the contest and just shows everyone's support for him.
He lost his parents. First his dad at 12.
1 year later he lost his mom at age 13.
This song is about finding himself.
Ok, I kind of gathered that but did not want to assume. Seems was not to far off as far as him carrying a legacy and making his own way. Thank you so much for providing that. Love this guy.
@@DaneBramageROCKShis brother and sister were a lot older than he was, his brother was 14 years older than he was, so his brother took him in.
@@petervandervliet640 ah dank je, dat vroeg ik me al af. Niet naar een weeshuis of pleeggezin. ❤
@@petervandervliet640 I think that is wonderful. Better than him getting into a foster family.
Great review. Thank you! As you were asking ☺️The name is pronounced as: joooooost (and not youst). And Kleyn (not klain). Have a great day
His song makes you laugh, dance and cry in just 3 minutes. What an hommage to being European and Dutch, to Dutch music and to his parents. Joost has the status of an absolute legend with us in Belgium.
He's here as well in the Netherlands.
People in The Netherlands and Belgium know...this is an asshole trying to get rich and famous.
In one Dutch late night show, Joost Klein explained the burning of the house symbolizes leaving the pain behind of losing his parents. The memory must and will remain, but the pain cannot carry on forever (it's an impossible burden). So he used this song to put an end the processing of enduring pain. Fantastic symbolics in here, great artist. And very interesting to see how this 'Dutch phenomenon' also works for people outside the Netherlands. DaneBramage really catches the point before looking at the intentions on the Eurovision website. Nice analysis!
Than you so much, there was so much going on and almost way to much to figure it all, but, its about the music and this one was fantastic! LOVE IT!
And he tries to use that to win points in the dumbest show on Earth. As if he is special in losing parents or loved ones. A total attention seeking self obsessed moron.
He also references (at the eating table) the Belgian singer Stromae with his song "Papaoute" which is French for "Papa (dad), where are you?" So many layers that point to his father.
In this song there is no reference to his mom idk why
This is is not only music, this is art. So many double messages. It makes me happy, gives me energy and makes me sad as wel. How is that posible. Respect
Thank you and I agree, this is art! The message is amazing and love how he delivered it!
@@Irma-qh9ec I love a bit of EU propaganda. So happy that I live here.
@@Irma-qh9ec Europe is probably one of the best continents to be able to live in, if you don't agree then please name a better one.
Art?😂. It’s a disgrace.
A rollercoaster in 3 minutes. Kippenvel.
An American saying The Netherlands not Holland... Totally suprised (in a positive way!) 👍
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Nah, he said Netherlands, instead of the Netherlands. I admit, it's better than Holland, but there is room for improvement. Especially someone from the USA should know better.
@@Bowwow30 we say, Nederland. We dont say de nederlanden anymore
@@Miner_20 Oh do we say that? I didn’t know. But Nederland in English is “the Netherlands” and not Netherlands.
3 facts:
1. Joost told in an interview that his father passed away when he was just 12 years old. And one year later his mother passed away aswell.
2. He promised his father to perform on the Eurovision Songcontest when he was a kid.
3. The title 'Europapa' had a deeper meaning aswell. Europa means 'Europe' and Papa means 'dad/father'. So it actually are two words malded together: Europa and Papa.
Joost ofcourse has personally already won because of his promise to his father to perform at the Eurovision Songcontest. But I would love to see his emotions when he really wins it. ❤
WIJ GAAN ERVOOR, KLEINE 😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤ BLAZEN DE BOEL OPEEN DAAR IN Zweden

This man immediately understands what the song is about, great. His name is small and his dreams are big!!😁
Thank you!
Edit: it's better to translate as Joost 'little' instead of small.
So sad they (EBU) took his dream and promises away from him 😭😭
Of course his dreams are big. He loves himself like a sociopath always does.
This is the most essential Dutch song we've entered in years. I love it.
This will be the new standard! AMAZING song.
and it's great. much love from Belgium. 12 punten/douze points. Also kudos to Dane who grasps the song perfectly.
disclaimer: all the references are great but the rhyming thing about Stromae's Papouatai/doet ie goed ej is GENIUS.
Arcade by Duncan Lorance: *COUGH* COUGH*
As long time last place germany i think most of us would definetly be last again if it meant for the 1st place to go to NL
Can you beleive they send him away before the finals because some woman with a camera filmed him backstage, after there was an agreement not to film him? He asked her twice to stop, she didnt and he pushed the phone away (without touching her!), the phone fell and because of this he was disqualified!! Outreagous!! All of his fans around the world are furious because he could have won! It was his biggest wish to perform at the eurovision and make his parents proud. Even though they are gone. So extremely sad...
Love your comments on the clip 💙
That is ridiculous and not a good excuse to kick him out. There were other rules broken by other performers but they did not kicked out. Not ok.
Joost had already a number one hit in Germany last year. He made a rap- techno- cover song „Friesenjung“ with the German rapper Ski Aggu.
It‘s a cover of „Englishman in NY“ that was already covered by the German comedian Otto in the 80‘s.
The video is absolutely crazy, too.
The end of „Europapa“ ist the typical Dutch techno style „Gabber“ that is also popular in Germany. Because of that I think he gets 12 points from us (Germans).
I love the song because of the mix between happy rave style (I like very much) and its deep content (lost his parents, the European unity).
I heard about that. His story is incredible. Love this song.
Just one sentence in this song:
'I lost everything, except time. I'm traveling every day cause the world is mine'....
Meaning: I lost everything what's important to me (his parents) the only thing that remains is the time he needs to fill up. He's running, searching, trying to find something. Every day over and over and again in a world where he feels lonely. All sung and performed in a 'happy hardcore' style. As a contrast, as a mask.
im seeing a lot of covers/ripoffs' but im waiting for an singer song writer version. then the lyrics can come over different. like Coldplay witch did Fight for your righti of the beasty boys
''i lost everything, except time'' is probably a reference to the fact that Europe is almost completely within the same time zone. In the same way that he mentioned the other benefits of the europe like it being virtually borderless.
I don't think so@@heinzfpv4787. This is not just a song about Europe, it's a story of depression, feeling lost and a cry for help.
This is a great review. You understood the meaning of this song, it’s not only funny. A lot of Dutch culture, it’s a big artwork❤
Thank You!!
Joost klein is disqualified yesterday for the Europian Songcontest!! It's so sad. We need the american poeple to support him on sociale media😢😢greetings from Belgium Sandra Brouns xx
I just read about that. That is so sad and I still wonder what happened?!
USian here, we saw what EBU did to Joost and were heartbroken for him. They stole from him a beautiful moment. So upset about the abuse he and other delegations suffered. I used to love streaming ESC but 2024 was an absolute shambles. EBU even tainted Nemo's win. Joost is getting airplay in several states! US social media lifting him up too. 💖
@@ninglorithiel That is great to hear that he is getting airplay. The fans are supporting him through streaming so this is great.
The fact that you recognised a lot of the deeper meanings behind the fun before your analysis says ALL about Joost' artisthood. He has thought it through so well!! He is a genius. As someone who disliked this genre back in the nineties, I have such respect for his entry and I absolutely love it!! Joost should win ESC but he has already won in my opinion. In these days where the youth is being tought life should always be Instagram perfect, he is a pure and refreshing inspiration for them. We need more Joosts in the world!!
Yeah this was brilliant and I love this song and this guy! Sad story but his delivery is amazing. Much respect! We need more Joost, you are right! Cheers.
I totally agree with you. I hated hardcore when I was a teenager, but Joost gave it new meaning. Now it brings back memories of al those teens in Ausie tracksuits jumping around on the dancefloor
Hahaha, I never hated house, back when I was 13-14, I listened to both black metal and hardcore house! I just wanted the heaviest of them all. I didn’t care about genres. So things like Atari Teenage Riot and The Prodigy were completely my thing. It was to me like a combination of both manual and digital…
Nobody, Only Joost Klein did it, he is the first person on this planet who did this. EuroVision 2024! 1000 points goes to the Netherlands. We all Love Joost Klein.
Let's hope this investigation clears and he can perform
I've become addicted to watching all the video reactions to this song: the smiling, happy faces and people close to tears when finding out about the touching story behind the song. Your reaction is one of the best so far, dank je wel!! 😄
I've exactly the same 😁

Wow, thank you. I am honored!

Oh, heel herkenbaar. Ben verslaafd aan 't raken!❤ Wat een kanjer, Joost Klein.
You instantly get this guy dude! Not only his vibe and style, but his story as well! It's not often that i see Dutch artists getting dissected this accurately, you've got a great sharp mind.
Thank you so much!! Cheers.
Hi , Joost used to watch Eurovision with his parents, and he told his dad one day I’ll will be on that stage, unfortunately he lost his dad when he was 12 due cancer and a year later his mom so he mention them in the end an also reffering his pain , traveling in lots off European country’s , the end he wants to tell his dad , you see dad you told me I can.Accomplish everything I want, now I move on with my life , the music is happy hardcore , it’s so Dutch , you can see DJ Paul Elstak in the car in the clip , so listen again and feel his message please .
That is awesome, and he amde it!! Made it to the grand stage and I think he will be on top of the finals! You know his parents are watching from above. Trust me, I am watching and listening over and over again, especially since I am learning so much more.
The reason it's euro-pa-pa is because 'papa' is dad in Dutch.

Everbody at the 'last supper' table is famous. S10 was NL's entry in 2022. The outfits the musicians have on in front of the windmill, the Dutch flag coloured shirts they wear on scooters... It all hits a ton of marks. DJ Paul Elstak in the car, Max Verstappen... it's a lot for us here in NL!
Yeah I had a feeling there was a lot of little nuances in there, thanks so much for pointing all those out!! The more I learn, the more I love it!
@@DaneBramageROCKS there was also a new kids reference, for the non-dutch: beavis and butthead are thirty years old and live in the Netherlands, then you have an idea...
@@KaasSchaaf666 Oh wow!! I grew up on Beavis and Butthead, actually. The more I learn, the more I love this song!
The hardcore bit is also known as "gabber". As Dutch as stroopwafels.
Not only S10 was a former ESC contestant, but René Froger (left on the table) also, with De Toppers (we like to forget that😂)
The dance is called "hakke"
Great reaction. I usually don’t like this kind of music, but I saw him live at a festival in January and he has an incredible stage presence. Besides being goofy he’s also very smart. He is in control of everything he does and knows very well how to market himself while staying authentic. I’m sure he’s going to surprise everybody with the staging at Eurovision. It’s been his longtime dream to perform at that stage so he will make sure it’s going to be impactful. I even have the feeling he will win! Btw he did post a live performance video yesterday.
thank you so much. I think that's why I liked this so much, because of how unique and fun and all the detail. When you know what you're seeing and hearing, it's hard not to love.
Pretty sharp analysis for a first hearing ! The thing with his dad is that both his father and mother died within a year when he was 12. He was left orphan with his then 26 yr old brother ( who is his manager btw). This both scarred and fuelled him. His motto is Joost Klein, Droom Groot (litt. Joost "little', dream big' ).
Halfway is the mentioning of belgian singer Stromae song 'Papaoutai' which is a song about an absent father ('papa ou etais ' 'papa where were you' . His father was killed in Rwanda genocide ..😔) . Stromae is da bomb. Every song of him is hearbreakingly good !
ruclips.net/video/oiKj0Z_Xnjc/видео.html&ab_channel=StromaeVEVO
Thank you so much and thank you also for providing that information!! This is what I/we were looking for. Hearing this story is sad but I am proud of him for pushing on and embracing his heritage and honoring his family. Great song, great message, wonderful person!
This song is an ode to his Dad's dying message, which makes it INCREDIBLY EMOTIONAL even though it's a super hard core gabber song

His reference to Stromaie is because this well known belgium singer also lost his dad. The opening is a reference to Scooter (90s also).
And papaoutes is french for « dad where are you »
@@pietervanbaekel that's just a full circle moment of him mentioning that exact song there tbh

Thank you for taking this emotional rollercoaster thank you for your review. Recap you can travel freely in a Europe w/o borders but the pain of the loss of loved ones travels with you. Follow your dreams and make the ones you love proud. Carry the memories with you but also their lessons. Joost is no joke he is a survivor right through the pain to party on the eurovision stage. Dutch opinion: I love how you mention his expressions, because I was skeptical before watching it the first time. Although he’s big already in several countries, I didn’t know him before. But oh my, his facial expressions are so much fun to watch. On top of that, it’s similar to music from from my teens, so another reason to love it. On top of his background. I really hope they can put together a performance that reflects the energy of his clip.
I hope so, too; as much fun and amazing as this video was for this contest, it is all about the stage performance. I'm cheering for Joost!
They did 2 performances live now. Everybody had to drop there phones. So nobody could make a movie of it. I red it was fantastic
AMAZING!!! The more I watch, the more I see details! I totally agree! Love this. 12 points for The Netherlands. Vamos Holanda!!!!!!
I absolutely love your reactions to Eurovision songs! It's so respectful and full of positive energy. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Europapa is a great song, I can't stop listening to it. At the moment I can't decide if this is my number 1 or Switzerland. Or Croatia. Or Norway. Or Italy. Help?! 🤣
I can't help because I am in the same boat! LOL. This might just be the best year yet though.
Gelukkig mag je in totaal 20x stemmen! 😉
12 points great song🎉
Ever since he was a kid he had told his parents he would compete in Eurovision. He finally made it and we’re all very proud of him
Beautiful pure and sharing reaction of you, Dane 💟🎶🙏
Thank you 🇳🇱
Thank you 🙌
Love this song❤ greetings from Germany
love your comment thanks 💜
Thank you. I love this song and love Joost. Great song, great message, great guy.
Pretty good pronunciations. Joost is a ghost who eats the most toast on the coast.
The EDM is Eurobeat mixed with true old school Dutch happy hardcore. The later segment is old school Hardcore from around 1994/'95. The dancing to this is called Hakken (back then) and is now more known as Gabber.
The song is a tribute to his father and mum who passed away at respectively 12 and 13.
The song is about an orhan traveling the continent and beyond to escape from his grief and pain. Yet no matter where he goes the void follows him.
The end is a message saying he found the strength of letting go. His fathers words that it is a world without "grenzen" which is a Dutch word that means both borders and boundries.
A deep poetic song to happy hardcore beats and a goosebumps inducing conclusion where he delivers the whole context of the song.
A brilliant lil masterpiece imo.
One of the best Eurovision entries to date.
Love from an old school Gabber from The Netherlands ❤🇳🇱
Hi there! Welcome and thank you so much for providing that information. Knowing all this, he translated it into song very well and I LOVE this. This is one of my top 3 favorite entries in the contest and I think may just win. I love this guy and am so happy to have discovered him and this song. This is why I love this contest. Cheers and thank you again for providing us that info.
Top uitleg en antwoord! Groeten van een mede oud- gabber:)
@DaneBramageROCKS You asked. Thank you for the interest. Most are for clicks you went for quality and content. Cudos for that.
Dutch is a complicated language with words that have no equivalent translation. Gezellig is an example. It means warming cozy atmosphere. Welcoming, friendly and inviting. 😊
One thing many miss is Stomae and Papaoutai. This is French and literally translates to "dad where are you".
The building with windmill is a mashup of build types. Probably a visual representation of childhood memories mixed with the emotional burden.
Loved your review. Figured I'd give you some first hand info and an "in my perspective"
Keep up the great work. Earned my subscription.

@@DamienT1891 Yeah It is a bit upsetting that most rectors are in this for themselves. I mean, I started the channel because I love music and want to share that experience, but if it was not for these musicians, then we would not have this so full credit to them and I want to learn more about these musicians!! On that, thank you again for providing more info and I totally missed the "dad where are you" translation but I would never have known that, this is why I love when the fans and follows pop in and provide this info! This community is AMAZING.
Yeah that building was awesome, I figured it was a visual of his history and upbringing, strong message here! Cheers and thanks so much and welcome to the channel!
Wow I get excited from you’re video on our Joost! He is good isn’t he 😊
He is! I love it
Smiling the whole song and at the end I am in tears. Deep!
So a fun fact about the video. The color of his suit is International Klein Blue. So thats very suitable xD
Oh nice!
European union flag royal blue
@@atvena it might be the exact same color, but that's the official name of the color. Joost Klein did not name it that :)
I also loved your facial expressions while seeing the video 😊
😊 thank you
GREAT VIDEO! I am from NL & know joostklein from youtube (eenhoornjoost). I think it is great how you interpreted the song how it is suppost to do when you heard it. Eventhough you didnt know about the loss of his parents; his personal message + the 'we are NL, we are europe' is the idea of this song. Joost Klein really is an artist & I really appriciate your words. It makes me feel very proud to live in the Netherlands & be a part of the EU :)
I really reaaaally hope we wil win eurovision!!! NL is such an small country, however we have a lot of cultural things that are unique, eventhough EU doesnt really have 'cultural-borders'. The thing with europe is that traveling is really easy & that food is available everywhere. In NL we have so many restaurants with international food. In some cities there are a lot of international students & we have a lot of dutchies with an other ethnicity.
This song doesnt only represent europe, but also how europe is 'blended' in dutch culture. However; happy hardcore = dutch!!
Also the guy who said 'Europa jonge' is from a movie; New Kids Turbo. Which is about the culture of south NL (Brabant. Which is also where I live :)) In the video clip are also more dutch artist/performers that all kinda 'iconic for some cultural subgroups'. The song really has multiple layers & I think reaaaallly is a masterpice
Thank you so much! I enjoyed this and was happy to understand, for the most part, what it was! I know the loss now, I learned a lot after recording but none the less, I love it all! Thanks for the comments and information! I am excited for the show.
Awesome review, seen many so far on this song and you captured it spot on.
And yes there are easter eggs included in the vid,, secret messages here and there.
Though probably most are dutch content related.
For instance the dining table, looks a bit like the Last Supper setup.
The other people in it all are known dutch musicians helping Joost somehow supping the song\vid....
Thank you so much!! I am excited to see this show
🎶A fascinating glimpse into the Netherlands' Eurovision entry! Joost Klein brings a unique flair to the competition!
Love your reaction! Proud to be a Dutch
Thank you. You should be proud! This was great.
@ Paul Elstak like : Oh heeey 🤩🤩🤩 i like this reaction video. I’m from The Netherlands and your understanding of the song is spot on. And i also didn’t knew who Joost Klein was 😂
Wait untill you hear Boer Harm 🎉 He will be next 🎉
wonderful how you respond to this.
nice to see how others view the song.
Here it is a huge hit, also the biggest favorite at home and we can't wait for the semi-final.
but I find one thing unfortunate. I cannot vote for Joost Klein because I live in the Netherlands.
but we're going for those 12 points
I am so excited to see this event this year!! It is going to be AMAZING! Thank you so much.
its him in the past, present and the future. To always remember who he was, who he is and who he once become.
I'm not into dance, techno or hardcore AT ALL, I really hate the stuff. But when I first heard this song it just grabbed me. I looked up more works from Joost and the guy is just a treasure, his songs have so many layers!
You're really fun to watch :)
You're laugh really brightened my day.
Oh thank you! Love to hear that. Cheers, welcome to the channel
the house construct was the "Castle" AKA Home and memories that burned due to the death of his parents and moved on in live
Whoa! The more I learn, the more I love this song! And Joost himself, what a wonderful creation.
Great and genuine reaction!👍😄
Thank you!! 😁
Your expression and emotional swing at the end is exactly what makes this song makes so strong.
Thank you. I loved it.
I love how you instantly get it. Great review!
Thank you so much. I loved it
genuine great reaction big up
Thank you
You've got it. Nice
Thank you!
Fun fact: he included a line in German because he wanted to pick at Germany because their Eurovision submissions are rarely actually in German.
Ohhhhhh!! LOL, Fun fact right there.
Love your smart review! ❤️
Thank you! 🤗
Greats from the Netherlands🇳🇱 !!!!
Thank you for covering Joost!
He is great and his song Europapa is a tribute to connectedness.
12 points to the Netherlands!
THank you for the comment! I loved it.
Love ❤this song. Its getting better every day. 12 points for The Netherlands. ❤❤❤
I agree.
Welkom in Europa
There are 2 contestants of previous Eurovision editions at the dinner table, there’s a representation of F1 driver Max Verstappen and the side view of the two men hunched over their keyboards reminds me of a videoclip from the duo Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo who were very successful in the happy hardcore scene. Donnie mentioned as a co writer might also be seen at the dinner table. The photo burning in the end is from a family vacation I believe. Really enjoyed this reaction video, never seen these introductions on the Eurovision website. Thank you!
Wow, there are so many wonderful nuances in this video. I love it! Thank you so much!
Great reaction! 😀
Thank you!! 😁
❤ Joost ❤️ greetings from Holland ❤
Greeting!! Welcome to the channel
Great reaction video Sir. Goodjob in taking time to get to know his background information. As quite some people missing the real message of this video.
Thank you so much and I always take time for the artists, it is about them anyway so full credit to Joost! Great Song, Great message, Wonderful person!
love this song so very much its banger my country netherlands slaying the need to win
You perfectly articulated what makes his song so fun in that first comment!
Thank you!
What I really like is the incorporation of a very Dutch dance style 'Hakken' as you see near the end. It's so typically Dutch, I love that it's incorporated in the video.
This makes me proud the be dutch ;)
Makes me embarrased to be dutch
Makes me, Dutch, proud to be Dutch despite usually disliking national pride. This song is sooo much about deeper stuff than where you’re from and how you show it. This is about finding it in yourself.
Can’t wait to see the live performance!❤
Same!
Best analysis so far! On the spot!
Europe for Joost Klein! 🇪🇺
Thank you so much!
