Jo I’m not out to debate or shout anybody down. In rare exceptions when a new interpretation gives fantastic new life to a tune (Joe Cocker’s take of With a Little Help From My Friends), I typically prefer a cover to be more or less faithful in capturing as much of the original’s sound or spirit. Maybe I’m in the minority, but I doubt it. These kids are talented but do not approach the fire of Joel’s original.
Watching & listening in late January 2024. These guys are absolutely phenomenal!! I hope they'll continue to sing their beautiful harmonies throughout their lives. It is truly a gift, so please, share your blessing with the world!❤
These guys weren't engineered or autotuned. I was (pleasantly) shocked at how tight their harmonies were!! I absolutely LOVE it when a surprise like this just drops my jaw to the floor!! Outstanding!
I think people look for perfection in music too much today, which really drives people away from singing because they're scared to be judged. Let's be honest, there were some "flaws" in this performance, but you guys appear to genuinely love music. The fact that you all got together to do this says a lot. It shows that you put time and effort into creating something together and I think that's beautiful. Thank you for sharing your hard work and talents. I hope you continue to sing together and share your love of music with the world. God bless!

Just found this video in August 2024. So Chris, I don't know if you or the guys are still checking in, but I love these voices and harmonies and the new approach you've taken to a great old song. As to your last paragraph, I have a saying: Excellence is better than perfection. And the joy of singing together is best of all.
I posted a comment a couple years ago saying I thought this was really good. So, I just stumbled across this video again and re-watched it. The more I watch and listen to it, the more I like it!

@@druidboy76 Frankly, it's also easy to tell when something's wrong. The voices are great, but the rhythm is... not as good. A lot of rushing - though very together, oddly. Good ensemble, I guess that is. Look, it's not nice to be insulting, but firstly, Agent Kennedy was, being fairly constructive about it; secondly, just cos something's difficult doesn't make this performance better or worse (nor does the skill of a critic); and thirdly, how can people learn what's wrong with their performances if nobody criticises them? Basically, what you're suggesting is a world of yes-men and yes-women and a lack of improvement because no matter how awful something is, if you put in effort is was great, champ. Good job. (To be clear, this wasn't awful. See my top couple paragraphs, or just the original comment on this thread.)

Regarding the minor flaws people mentioned: shake it off. We’re so used to hearing songs in which the pitch has been digitally perfected after recording that we don’t know what real singing sounds like. A cappella rocks. Keep it up!
the vocals are great, they needed a click track in their ears, I think it'd have added a lot more punch with the confidence on each beat. Their vocal work is good, I think that would have really helped them to nail the timing of it all. This is still a hell of a lot better than I could do vocally, but as a drummer I can hear the timing struggles. Awesome work for sure, people seem to agree with the fact it's been heard 2M times.
It's not the pitch to what we are not used to. It's the timbre of the voice we don't recognize anymore. And that also explains why everyone sings so lightly and bright instead of deep and dark like singers used to do.

Guys, I listen to this every once in while. Why? You are amazing and your harmonies are spot on. You each have wonderful voices but when you all sing together it kicks it to a higher level. I actually feel better after listening to you - maybe the music is releasing endorphins inside me. I don't know but I do know something is happening. A dose of you guys singing is good for what ails you.
God bless you guys for bringing this heartfelt message back today The world needs to embrace love and compassion for the longhaul This version is very effective 👌
Boys, I love you. I love your slightly awkward, completely genuine, and perfectly harmonized version of this old classic. You should update us on what all of you are doing now. Consider a remake for 2024?
Yes, okay, the snaps are a bit off, probably because mixing it all is an immense task. But man, this group makes me so happy. Listening to how the voices go so well together, and watching the fun and determination at the same time, it makes me feel so happy that people like them still exist and make the world a better place with their presence. Does anyone else try to guess who the bass is before a group starts singing
Yes ahahaha
Those of us who sing bass do... ;)
Yeah absolutely xD
I was too busy figuring out which one of them was actually singing in time. I sincerely don't mean it as an insult, but it was distracting, could've been an editing thing, but it is hard to ignore
Far right guy sang bass most of the time, but during his solo it looks like the middle guy takes over for him
I was so sad because I thought this beautiful talent was gone and lost forever! This makes me so happy and it touches my heart in a way that I cannot even begin to describe! You were all absolutely amazing!!! Thank you so much for keeping this beautiful music alive!!! God bless you all!❤🙏💕💝
Someone somewhere should give these young men a contract this was absolutely marvelous thank you
All variations of blue shirts are represented here.
They probably go to a ptivate school. Its a uniform code.
@@lordhelland5551 Private schools make you wear identical shirts. Not variations of shirts of the same colour.
Source: I went to a private school.
@@FrazzaJ2000 not true. Some have a loose policy. As long as its a blue shirt and some kind of solid color bottoms its okay.
I went to private schools as well. In Florida. Thats the policy because students get heatstrokes in button ups with a bottom layer and a long khakis.
@@lordhelland5551 Ah, im from Australia. Probs different here
honestly id give my life for the one in dark brown khakis, hes so awkward
They’re all quite awkward, but charmingly so. I think most of us were like this back in school. Would love to see some more from the group, they’re talented.
@@ant_picard Check out Don't Dream It's Over! Thanks so much!
@@ChrisBandyJazz get the band back together please
@@ant_picard So true; yet surprisingly good to listen to!
Same tho!!! 😂🤤
Very good!!! It sort of reaffirmed in my mind that anyone and everyone can potentially sing well with their own unique voice when practiced.
You guys need to remake this 3 years later
and i mistakenly thought your icon fell off from my eyebrow..🤣🤣🤣
Javeed Ibrahim hahaha same
Excellent!! I wonder where these lads are today, seven years later.
These guys are blessed with really good voices.
Such beautiful harmony…. Wow!!
Any body else surprised by kid's on far left voice? Just wasnt the voice I saw coming.. none the less damn good cover of an amazing song! Thank you for sharing the talent
The guy at 1:26 has a really good voice! Well, you all do, but his tone is my favorite
Oh god YES. So soothing.
Ok boys I've been waiting 20 years for this. Just like we practiced, no mistakes.
This appeared by random, I've heard it before but it always grabs my attention. Great music by Billy Joel, not taking anything from these amazing vocalists!
I listened to this about a week ago and have had the song in my brain ever since. So I decided I might as well listen to it again. Really enjoyed your performance.
Thank you so much guys, I don't have words to express my gratitude towards you guys for such incredible effort in todays world.
Ok guys.. I've been waiting for this for 20 years now.. just like we practiced, no mistakes!!🤣😂
Check desc.
Why do you care? He’s quoting how I met your mother
These guys have great pitch and their voices blend really well. Fun.
I am so impressed to see young people sing in Doo Wop style. The harmonies are just so wonderful to listen to. God bless!
Who just liked my comment a minute ago? It was exactly at 11:11 pm.
Great job! Especially to whoever sang bass!
Hi Chris, I am a 52yo from Malaysia. I stumbled into this yesterday and have been watching this many many times. I listened to the song when I was a student in the States back in the 80s. I look forward for this team to group together and produce similar videos in future. SUBSCRIBED!

I watch this group over and over again fantastic harmonising, i also have a C D of Billy Joel singing for the longest time,..... a good all round CD !
I just wanna give the kid in the pocket t-shirt a hug
Considering you all only had 4 hours to learn this, I think you did a great job! Keeping in time together is not as easy as it seems and comes with practice. Well done!
Beautiful! I just love acapella singing. Each of the members has a great ear and are stand-alone talents, but they’ve blended their voices into this mesmerizing sound. Thanks, guys, for sharing your talent with us.
I’ve come back to watch and listen to this video a number of times. They did a great job and I’ll bet they’re even better now.
Loved this performance. So refreshing. Thank you. 🙏🙂🌺
God bless you guys for bringing this heartfelt message back today
The world needs to embrace love and compassion for the longhaul
This version is very effective 👌
Ooh nice! They all have good voices and harmonize well ^_^
The guy in blue was really awkward
You got that right...LOL
Leave them the FUCK alone
They’re all wearing blue...
Slothful Meep that’s the fucking joke
Slothful Meep that’s the joke dumbass
Deep dude gets an ulttra high solo. i was mindblown
I like all kinds of music. I really wish we had much more of this style out there.True talent, you could actually understand the words.
Precious! Totally fun! Thank you!
Boys, I love you. I love your slightly awkward, completely genuine, and perfectly harmonized version of this old classic. You should update us on what all of you are doing now. Consider a remake for 2024?
Great idea!
Yes, okay, the snaps are a bit off, probably because mixing it all is an immense task. But man, this group makes me so happy. Listening to how the voices go so well together, and watching the fun and determination at the same time, it makes me feel so happy that people like them still exist and make the world a better place with their presence. Awesome! Imagine how it'd sound had they had more time. 😍
These young men are beyond brilliant!!
