      Clutches could have been overheated and warped so they are putting pressure on each other all the time. Thanks for the comment and good luck!

      @@screamindieselltd Excellent vidéo! I rebuild mine yesterday, it s not a big big job, the most important thing is when you tight the 8 bolts from the case, we need to tight slowly , en at the end you can ear a sound like click, I think it s the convex plate and clutches take place . So thank you for this great vidéo !

    So i’m looking to rebuild my differential and swap the gears from a 4.88 posi to a 3.55 lsd is there anything i’ll have to change and will i have to set back lash?

    • @screamindieselltd
      @screamindieselltd  3 года назад +1

      The carriers might not work as the break is usually 4.10. You should set everything up again. Like pinion depth, and backlash. But if your swapping everything over from another diff you might be able to get away with swapping shims and everything. Although it is best just to set it all up again.

      This was a 2000. Should be the same for any second gen (94-02) Cummins with a Dana 70 with posi in the rear. 2003 and up are an AAM axle so they might be different. I haven’t got into one.

    that style is not referred as a pumpkin rear end that's a axle housing a pumpkin comes out the other direction and it all comes out ring and pinion no set up . like the rear loading rear NOT A PUNPKIN A CARRER UNIT

  • @cjm4568
    @cjm4568 Год назад +1

    Somewhere I read that parts were no longer available for the PowrLok. That basically, if it needed to be rebuilt, you needed to go to a traklok. does that make any sense what I’m trying to say? Maybe it’s the carrier case that is no longer available?

    • @screamindieselltd
      @screamindieselltd  Год назад

      I couldn’t tell you. I gave the dealer the numbers off the vin and the diff/ring gear and they got the parts for me.

    • @cjm4568
      @cjm4568 Год назад

      @@screamindieselltd it’s actually the Powrlok in the Dana 80 that rebuild kit is hard to come by. I have the exact same unit that you were working on in the video and I probably need to have mine checked out. It seems to chatter when I go around a corner. I’m not sure if that chatter was there before, but I replaced the diff fluid and added two bottles of friction modifier and that chatter is still there.
