- Yes! Another video about filters. We're talking Day for Night filters this time. You might think you can do it all in post, but how about in camera? In my other videos you can see how filters can be a valuable tool in creating a specific look. When going for the Day for Night look you might want to see what you can accomplish using a filter. Of course I'll be doing some tests with surprising results. Check out the side by side comparisons and decide for yourself what looks the best!

Thanks for the nice video! Yes. Filters are still a very useful tool. On my old Sony a7R2 I used a Tiffen Varm black pro mist filter to get a good skin tone after spending many hours adjusting in camera and in Resolve. It looks like an external filter did something a little different that couldn't be done internally. I prefer to turn down the colors a lot when I (rarely) use a blue filter for a night look.
Wow 😳
underrated
really insightful thanks for sharing
Thanks for the comment!
Very helpful. Thanks for sharing!
Here to help!
Using the Monochromatic DFN you are supposed to adjust the yellow levels in post to bring in the blue. Turning the light silver. I would post an image if I could to demonstrate.
I can't even find that monochrome filter on the Tiffen website. And anywhere else they only have the expensive 4x5 size. Love to find an 82mm.
I don't think I've ever seen it in a 82mm, which would be nice. Most are the 4X4 and you usually have to rent them.
Really helpful! Thanks for sharing bro
Anytime! Glad it helped.
I know I'm late, but I have a question. Have you tried combining the monochrome and the cool day for night filters in one image?
That’s something I haven’t tried. It’s always worth testing just to see what happens. Maybe in a future video.
Wow, great information.
Glad you liked it. I love making this kind of content!
Are you dropping your white balance first and then exposure. Because when I put on the filter its not blue like in your video.
Correct. Set white balance and exposure then dropped in the filter. I did that for all the filters during testing at the 3:50 mark. Then you can make adjustments from there.
@@JeremyWalton Thanks... found the problem helped a friend do a 48 hour challenge and on the last shot he changed it to auto WB. Didn’t catch it till later. Now its just trying different things for the right look.
@@garymcclurg977 was curious what was going on. Glad you found the issue. Good luck with post. I’m sure you can figure something out to make the last shot match.
Hello , whats the K to get that effect? ruclips.net/video/l0AyCAQaxnU/видео.html , thanks for the video btw
Not sure what it was set at. If you're trying to get a day for night look using white balance, just crank it until you get the color you want.
