Raag Yaman is a night Raag which is very romantic in nature. It is full of grace and majesty, and it creates a mood of devotion and dedication. It suggests an unconditional offering of everything one has at the altar of whatever one's calling may be, asking nothing in return. Its original name is Raag Kalyan and only during the Mughal's rule, the name Raag Yaman was introduced and became popular. Some say its origin is from the Persian mode "Ei' man" from which "Yaman" originated. Others say it has Vedic origins as Raag Yamuna which over time altered as Yaman.
Raag Yaman is considered one of the most important in all of the Hindustani sangeet. It is the primary raag in Kalyan. It is a primary thaat. Its importance can easily be seen in the fact that it is one of the first raags to be taught
This online baithak was held at the initiative of Ved Gupta in Los Angeles, as a part of bazm e Khas foundation live concerts.

Electronic tabla has been used because the audio was recorded in US by the artist in lockdown conditions on account of covid 19.
