I love scouts. They are so strong and fast and have amazing air to air, and when in big groups their air to ground aint bad.
Scouts are great at poking oponents
2 Scouts are nothing, but 12 is already a power. But if Terran switched to Golliaths as 80% of his army, he might have made much better - Reavers would be almost useless due to shuttles. But their only use against ground is to hit and run, due to their high durability and speed. I only wonder why Snow didn't build any shield battery in his bottom base - cheap solution that heals scouts very fast and allows their return to combat immidiately.
Problem with scouts is that these are useless against Zerg (Esnare and Plague), and quite bad against Protoss (Storm and statis field).

If he built 4 batteries at his main he won't even lose his main. Scouts can be extremely tough at defending as you can pretty much heal the shields instantly whenever you return to base. Against goliaths/turret only you can even use the battery and instruct it to recharge at the ground, that will pull ONLY the units without full shield in a small area, then it will be insanely difficult to eliminiate any of the scouts if the enemy cannot one-shot them. The micro is also easy as you just give battery a number, press R and click on the ground near the scouts that are engaging the enemy anti-air.
Only valkyries can effectively counter large number of scouts as terran.

Snow actually killed plenty of Artosis's scouts in their match, here I set the right minute when it happened

Only thing better would have been shield batteries for strategic scout refill
In PvT, everything is meta. Your cousin playing with his forehead after being driven over in a truck can still result in a win if you choose protoss in PvT.
I've been saying it ever since 1998. Scouts don't suck. They are situational. Yes, Snow probably would have won with a traditional strategy, but when yoy don't engage directly with large amounts of Goliaths, Scouts get you tons of value. They fly, for one. They SHRED anything in the air, they have 250hp, whoch isn't nothing, and you see once Snow employed the Scout switch, Terran had no answer. The game was over at the 21 minute mark. Snow was just playing with his food.
It costs a fortune. Its upgrades cost fortune. It deals less damage than SCV. Its super stylish, but not very practical. It is the ultimate troll weapon.
Scouts were basically the protoss only option before brood war since there was no corsair. BW just didn't give scouts the proper upgrade at the fleet beacon to make them viable..they should have had some sort of air to ground damage boost upgrade so they would be dangerous. As it stands scouts require extra micro because of their terrible ground attack while corsair can be set and forget due to no air to ground attack. If the scouts did more dmg to ground units this would not be as big of an issue.
@@Ziegfried82 Call me crazy, but I've just bought the narrative that Scouts are Trash/Meme units. They're not GREAT! I admit that. But I'm 40 and I've mained Protoss since 1998 when I was 15. I used to play at S rank years ago. I will go to my grave saying they're NOT TERRIBLE. That's it. They have some function. Watch this damn game for fuck's sake. If Scouts were SO terrible, why did Terran have no answer for them?
They are terrible for their cost, but I give you my word: They will be insanely broken if any one of these happen
-Speed upgrade move to the cybernatics core
-Cost decrease to 225/125
-Photon blasters damage increased to 10
The power of scouts come from their speed and easy access to shield recovery (from batteries), meaning they can do hit-and-run with impunity. If you try to attack their base, rest assure that they will come back with full shields every 10 seconds. They will come to pick off 3~4 units/turrets, retreat, come back with full shields and repeat until you are all dead. No other race or air unit have similar capability except the interceptor. If you don't have valkyries or hydra/dark swarm to counter this you are completely screwed. Protoss usually don't have this problem as HT/archons/dragoon are extremely effective against scouts due to high health and/or AoE.
scouts are bad because they cost way too much and deal no damage to ground, a single goliath can almost 1v2 scouts while costing almost a third as much as one of them

You can tell this terran is good but he still made him look easy like Artosis.
This terran was actually clumsier than Artosis, watch his rallies just get destroyed non stop lol.
