True dat! I would've been out. How about the dumb ass in the bathroom stall? While Michael was bashing dude's head in, I would've bolted for the door and been out of there. It was like she was thinking, "Oh, let me just wait here in this stall with this damn crowbar I am totally not going to use until he is done killing my colleague/boyfriend and then oh joy, oh rapture it'll be my turn!" Dumbass!

I think you missed a major point in The end. Laurie‘s daughter actually faked breaking down to lure michael down to The basement because of her training from laurie. She told her that michael is drawn in by fear.

I think they didn’t show the bus crashing scene because I like to think that Michael had nothing
to do with the bus crash. The doctor was obsessed with getting Michael to fight with Laurie to “learn more about true evil”, and he demanded to be on the bus with Michael until he was under another doctor’s care. This makes me think that the doctor was the one who purposely caused the bus to crash so he could get Michael killing again, eventually leading to Laurie. It would make sense for them not to show this scene in that case because they were saving the plot twist for later in the film.

Annabel Stuewart - He lied =)
That’s what we’re supposed to believe until we see the doctor kill Officer Hawkins. After seeing that, I think we’re supposed to assume the doctor killed the guards, used their keys to free Michael and the other prisoners, and got back on the bus to be found later. I don’t imagine being shot was part of his plan, but I would say it worked out in his favor.

Thought the movie made it pretty clear michael is selective with his killings. Like how he didn't kill those adults in the car in public because he knew that would cause a scene and probably lessen his kill count as well as expose him. I guess people forget michael is a stalker, manipulative and methodical. He didn't kill that baby because it can't process fear or what's happening. He sure didn't hesitate killing that older kid. He used the black kid to set up the babysitter for her death and trust and believe if my boy didn't dip he was going to get killed to(literally the only smart person in this movie, I take that back the cop as well but they did him dirty). Michael even uses his kills as distractions. My guy has zero morales but don't mistake him for a mindless killer. If that were the case I'm pretty sure he could have made opportunities to kill while being held captive but no he simply waited for an opportunity to strike and maximize the killings. That patience is to be feared.

    @robertthompson5701 5 лет назад +1530

If you remember, he didn't kill the Smith's Grove patients in the first movie either, or over 90% of the people he actually encountered. Michael has never been just a mindless killing machine like Jason Vorhees, he's always done things methodically and with a purpose. He uses those around him to his advantage and kills when he needs to accomplish something. For example, he didn't kill the hundreds of people roaming the streets, instead, he killed the people who could potentially get in his way and who were necessary to his goals. It's why he such a terrifying character, he's consciously doing these things to achieve something, unlike Jason Vorhees, Leatherface, Freddi Krueger, and even Michael between movies 2-Resurrection. Michael is trying to achieve a goal, not just wandering around killing random people for no reason. Every person he killed in the new movie, he killed for a reason.
The guards, he needed to escape.
The kid and his dad, he needed their truck.
The mechanic, he needed his jumpsuit.
The bloggers, he needed his mask.
The woman with the baby, he needed her knife.
The woman alone in her house, he needed a place to stake out.
Vicky and her boyfriend, he needed to inflict emotional damage on Allyson.
Allyson's friend, emotional damage to Allyson and he was in Michael's way and interacting with him.
The doctor, he didn't want another Loomis.
The sheriff's deputies, he needed their car.
    Ray, again, emotional damage.
None of these kills were random or mindless, they all served Michael's purpose. Michael Myers is terrifying BECAUSE he's humanized, the fact that he didn't kill hundreds of people proves that and makes him more terrifying. He's calculated, he knows what he's doing.

    • @masons4425
      @masons4425 5 лет назад +1

I thought it was lame. The movie ended with too much gun *action*. The finale mostly highlighted Micheal getting his ass kicked, and it was less scary with energetic characters that didn't deserve to get the jump on the antagonist. The traps gave too much level-playing field to Laurie. The main protagonist and antagonist never had any real conflict until the end of the movie. And still, the conflict wasn't very honest since the story revolved around (Alyson who ignores her grandmother as well as Karen who also neglects paranoid Laurie..The only insight about the trap we get is that Karen was trained to assassinate Micheal which sounds cheesy when you think of it)
Since the movie didn't show us how Laurie deserved to kill Micheal (Such as showing us Laurie's trial and error to make the trap & what might spoil the trap from working so theres more at stake)
I feel cheated as a spectator that Micheal was set to get offed so easily.

I think the most interesting part was how much Michael didn't care about Laurie. For 40 years (and maybe to mimic much of the franchise) Laurie believed that Michael was waiting for her, as she was waiting for him, but when he got out, he had no real desire to find her. There is a chance he didn't even know her name. Their final battle was not him tracking her down, but him physically being kidnapped and taken to her house. Laurie even literally shoot him outside of the babysitter's house, but he doesn't even care. He just walks away. So it was interesting how they took the story back to its roots, how Carpenter initially intended it. Laurie and Michael have no connection, he just sees someone and decides to kill them, not really carrying who the person is.

No, I bet with in that 40 yrs, The Dr. Mentioned Laurie and he put 2 and 2 together. He knows what hes doing and is making moves, so practicle that they dont make sense to us since we didnt wait 40 yrs and plan everything out like him. He is definitely ultimately trying to kill Laurie. I bet Micheal had a big plan but since he was trapped, it didnt work. In the next film they will most likely explore his thought process and such. And that's why he could take hits as hard as he did, him wanting to kill Laurie is what keeps him alive through what humans shouldn't. And he does kill for purpose,
      Kid and dad for truck
Those gas station guys for clothes
      Podcasters for mask
      Old lady for knife
Neighbor lady so that he can camp out
Vickey and Dave for emotional damage
      Cops for car
Dr Sartain because he simply hated him for 40 years
      Rey for emotional damage
      All to get to Laurie.

They could go that route. Or maybe she liked the feeling of stabbing and she'll become a serial killer like Michael. We've already seen one coping mechanism where the victim (laurie) of micheals killing spree becomes a wary badass. Why would the directors show the same thing just with another character. I think it'd be cool to show for them to show another way of coping. Which, in allysons case, would be to become a vengeful killer.

    Well here's parallels:
You have 3 generations of Strodes there. Which is symbolism for the 3 different timelines. Its almost like they took all 3 Lauries and created 3 characters with it.
    1. Laurie is now a fighter. The original Laurie
    2. Karen is just like Karrie from H20 in a sense that she is scared but tactical. Like H20 she mans up and uses her better judgement to kill what she has been hiding her entire life from.
    3. Obviously the granddaughter is just like the reboot Laurie. She watched all of her friends die and she aides in the death of Michael...she's hinted to become crazy at the end. She might even go back and kill her boyfriend.

Secondly they don't make Allyson into a killer like Jamie or Laurie in the end of Zombies Halloween 2. Hopefully they'll realize both of these ideas failed horribly and go a different route.

I honestly really liked this movie. It had it problems for sure, but overall i think it was the best Halloween sequel. People complained about the gore and how Michael wasn't the same killer as he was in the original, and to that I say yes, he isn't the same as he was in the original. It has been 40 years that he has gone without killing, so of course when he got out he would go on a killing spree. Also, Laurie changed drastically as well. I think both character changes were necessary and worked well. My major complaint about the movie is how in the end scene it kept referencing the original. At first it was cool but it got to a point where all I could think about was the original. I was almost surprised that Laurie survived, because these horror sequels usually kill of the main character of the original. To say the least it was a pleasant surprise. Do I think Michael is dead? No. I do not think that Michael died a the end of this film, but I hope he did. If he did die it makes this the final confrontation, if he didn't then it renders this movie pointless. The only way that I can see it not being pointless is if it lead to something greater, like this was the first step in a massive rampage. Hearing his breathing at the end of the movie may not necessarily mean that he is still alive. I still believe that he is alive (I mean this guy took 7 shots to the chest and 1 to the neck) but for those that don't want to believe that he is alive it could just be his final breaths or just a fun little easter egg.
Into the non serious stuff now:
I kinda felt bad for Michael when they showed him just staring up at them while being burnt.
And that Kid that was being baby-sitted is probably the smartest person in any horror movie. Just say "Oh Shit!" then leave the house and don't come back.
The score in this movie is fucking amazing. When they played the theme at the end credits I got pretty pumped up.
Yeah thats basically everything I had to say. I just like talking about anything to do with horror. Hit me up on my discord "conmar2004#2004" if you want to discuss anything about the genre (none of my friends are into horror)

But like, him burning alive and the empty eyes as he just watches them was just like damn. I think in part because of how the movie was written. As many videos have stated, the writers chose to do a role reversal in which laurie became the predator and michael the prey. so it kind of tricks the audience, as we'd naturally feel empathy towards the perceived victim.

7:55 The mom was acting to get Michael to reveal himself and fall into their pre-planned trap. This is important because it shows that all the Training and planning with her mother during childhood eventually paid off in the end. Im honestly Disappointed you didnt get that, or at least didnt include that plot point in the video.

Like I said before the girls didn't deserve to get the jump on Micheal. We know Laurie built a trap, though her method was never shown to the audience once. The only time in the story we see it is a montage of Laurie shooting guns and lame hints about the trap through Karen's dialogue saying ''This is my childhood'' as she enters the bunker in the finale.
Really, the story felt really weak and to kill off Micheal like that disrespects John Carpenters iconic character

    • @masons4425
      @masons4425 5 лет назад

I'm salty about how the ending was handled and how the trap didn't link up to the finale with enough insight for the audience.
I also feel like on Micheal's part he didn't get to demonstrate the spirit of the Halloween franchise. His kill count in the movie were mediocre and mostly off screen, implied, or after the fact. I was hoping for something more invigorating to happen at the end. Instead we get the director trying to be innovative with hunted being the hunters

Just watched the movie today. Being 51 years of age I remember being 12 or 13 when I saw Halloween for my first time. I snook down in the basement in the early morning hours to watch it on HBO since my parents refused to let me watch it. It left me terrified to even sneak back upstairs and creep into my bed. Hating most every sequel after the '78 original I was excited to see this new story. I saw it on a week dayat 1 pm. I was the ONLY person in this small Baltimore theatre. I almost had a panic attack before it even started saying to myself I don't want to watch this alone. Overall I give it a solid B/B+. It was very good and had some great scares and a couple rather very disturbing scenes. JLC was amazing as Laurie. And they got the mask down perfectly. Remember those tragic masks in the later sequels. What scared me the most is after the movie I needed to use the bathroom. I looked at the first 2 stalls with disgust like that female reporter in the movie before entering the third and final stall only to have someone try to come in while I'm sitting there pants hanging below the knees. I screamed like a girl and that was my Halloween scare. Jesus Fuck I freaked out and quickly washed my hands and left the theatre never looking back at the man who tried to invade my potty time. Happy Halloween all!

actually it makes him more so. Because instead of him being a colleged aged kid (like in the 1st movie). He is a demented and experienced monster of a man who's rage has been building in complete silence during a long lifetime on imprisonment!!!

Interesting video but I disagree with a few key points.
First, I think showing the bus crash wouldn't have worked for several reasons. It would face stolen some thunder from the unmasked gas station rampage to follow; it would have been hard to execute anything as potent as imagining how he got loose and caused that carnage; and most importantly, the Sartain twist carries a distinct implication he must have had some hand in causing the crash or freeing Michael to do so, and they couldn't afford to telegraph that twist so early.
Second, Michael appeared to kill all of the guards and any patient he considered a threat. The only ones left alive were docile and drugged out of their minds, wandering aimlessly around the road.
Why did he let any of them live? Simple: they were camouflage. Michael was unmasked and wearing bright white prison scrubs. The only way to hide and ambush the inevitable Good Samaritan was in plain sight, blending in among the sheep until his means of escape arrived.
Third, I don't think there was any kind of 'moralistic' decision on his part not to kill that baby. I think it was mostly just a nice fake out by the director, but on an in-universe level I think it was honestly just beneath his notice.
Consider: he didn't choke the kids he bumped into on the sidewalk. He didn't run around slashing every random person he came across on the street. He was stretching his legs, testing his skills after so long dormant and in captivity before starting his patented stalking in earnest. I'm not sure he even really registered the baby was there or have any more thought to killing it than he would have to stabbing a television just because it was making noise. We see it as helpless, defenseless. I think to him it was just an inanimate object: Not Prey.

For sure, not at all. I liked it, I think a lot; I didn't quite love it. I thought they made a few choices that were brilliant and a few that were a little iffy. Overall I thought it was well done and maybe even better than a lot of people are giving it credit for. And even the things I felt didn't quite land - like the Sartain twist - I understand what they were going for and why they went there.

Agree with you but the bus scene we couldn’t see because I’m pretty certain they are implying the doctor is the one who caused it so they didn’t wanna ruin that twist. The other part is the baby was left in to be a moral choice the directors wouldn’t have added it otherwise. Just think he could have killed that kid who was getting babysat as well but instead allowed him to live so he could get the babysitter to come upstairs instead.

Just a correction (great content btw):
In the original when Michael escaped, he did so by lletting out all the patients.
It was a disraction so he could get away.
Also in the original, he never attacked Tommy or Lyndsay, and when Lonnie Elam bumped into him,
he just stood him back and let him walk away.
Im not seeing that as a new development within Halloween 2018, rather consistency and great attention to detail by David and Danny.
Aside from his neice in the later films, he's never been known to go after kids anyway.
Far as killing the kid, its both a nod to Halloween 3 and Assault on Pecint 13 by John Carpenter.
He's like Carpenter said, a force of nature, calculated but not in any personal way.

1: So Laurey spent thousands of dollars to ready for this event but had no automatic guns and decided to have BOLT ACTION rifles which are so slow.
2: Why would you take a long barreled gun while searching tight small rooms? She had been training for 40 years and wouldn't think to take something that he couldn't grab the end of?
3: Why would the dad go outside of a secure house and check on the police car?
4: Why did Laurey go out looking to kill Michael when she had her house preped to kill him?
5: Why does EVERY character that dies in their home leave the doors unlocked?

Not sure if it's been said but i think that the clutching Michael's knife thing was a subtle way of saying that she's just like Laurie now. But also if I remember a interview on the movie the director said that the film was meant to be 2 films shot back to back but they wanted to take it slow and be sure that it was well received first i think it's the same idea as the most recent pirates movie that it's the beginning of the end so i think that the sequel will pick up almost directly after this one and ultimately will end superman doomsday style with Laurie and Michael fighting each other till Laurie kills him and ends up dying just a thought but if they wanted this to be a final showdown kind of thing if done right it could be great because if would finally bring Laurie's story to a firm close with no loose ends given that her whole purpose in life since the first round of killings has been to kill Michael
