I was actually going to suggest this game to you lol. my favorite variation is that in subsequent rounds, if the President doesn't finish before another person does, the President must discard all their cards (face down). the next round, they become the [insert the term you would use to describe the lowest rank]. the player who finished last the previous round is only the 2nd lowest rank

I’ve been meaning to do this one for a long time and I’m happy to finally get it out and can’t wait to hear about how wrong I’ve been playing 😂 i really like your rule, especially because it’s puts the pres on the hot seat. Thanks!

Man, this brings back memories of Boy Scout camp where we called it Schmuck. I couldn't remember the rules to this game until I stumbled on this video, and it's definitely close enough to be the same game, but we just I guess had different house rules (obviously no drinking involved as kids). The way I remember it, no jokers, 3s weren't special, and we had an ordering of suits. Lowest to highest was clubs, hearts, diamonds, spades. So if a 5 of diamonds had just been played, and you're next you could play a 5 of spades but not a 5 of clubs or hearts. Playing the same number didn't skip the next player, but I like that as a drinking game rule. A 2 can still be trumped with another 2 of a higher suit before clearing. We always made up names for all of the ranks including those in between when we had more than 6 players. Our ranks generally went Schmuck, Hobo, Citizen, Governor, Vice Pres, President. But other ranks like Councilman, Mayor etc. were slotted into the middle when there were more players. When the pres and vice pres swap their worst cards for the schmuck and hobo's best, the intermediate players could offer deals to their counterparts, as in Gov offering citizen "I'll give you a pair of 9s if you give me a queen or higher".

Schmuck is a great name for this game! I like your rules, and the variety of gameplay is what makes this game such a classic.
Before posting the "Play-In Games House Rules" we had lots of discussion with friends and family on what to included or keep out, it was highly contentious. Thanks for watching and sharing!

Played Scum during every lunch break my senior year of high school. Couldn't remember what the game was until a friend reminded me of the game earlier this year. I'll definitely be showing this video to some friends so that they can learn and we can play together. Thank you!

I do remember that we played with 2-3 decks all the time. Tried 4 decks when we had a dozen or so ppl playing, was a bit to much. 6-8 ppl with 3 decks was alot of fun. Played until the birds were chirping 😅.

I am into card shedding games like Big Two and Gin Rummy. But trick taking card games like Spades, Hearts, Euchre, Ombre, Briscola and Tresette really confuses me. Like how do other players know if I posses a particular suit or not 🤔
