This is the most detailed head to head I've seen and I've seen them all. Very thorough and scientific. Great job!
    1. For the color science test was it done in jpeg and what color simulation was used on both cameras? I'm guessing the default standard for Sony and Provia for Fuji.
    2. With both camera makers touting their eye autofocus, I'd love to see an eye af test similar to the face af test in the future.

Nice comparison. I will say that it would be helpful if you were consistent with which side you put a camera on. This would allow the viewer to focus more on the review instead of taking a second to reorientate from one segment to the other. There are some some other small critiques but I found this to be the most distracting element.

Awesome review! I’m going to likely need a new crop body and telephoto lens for wildlife later this year. I need a super sharp pro-level lens, though. Can Fuji hang with Sony in terms of lens
quality? I heard what you said about price, but I don’t want to let low cost draw my into a system which will disappoint me when it come to tack sharp images. I have wasted too much time and money with in that trap.

  • @Stefan1968ful
    @Stefan1968ful 5 лет назад +14

The Sony A6400 is IMO the better solution for Wildlife - Action - Sport. And this is because of the superior Autofocus tracking of the Sony A6400. And also the lens selection is better for this application, the Sony 200-600mm I am using right simply rocks on the Sony A6400 bringing you to 900mm FOV at f/6.3. So together with a Sony A9 you get the best combo for Wildlife - Action - Sport - IMO. Fuji has nothing like this to offer. It is a decision on the ECO system you have to make.

Very informative, thank you! I am considering the XT3 or A7iii. To my surprise, I chose the Fuji for 12/13 images in the comparison test. Given that I pretty much always shoot RAW, do you think I would still notice that same difference between the RAW files from the XT3 and the A7iii? I know they are different cameras to those tested, but I would assume the Fuji and Sony processing is relatively consistent across their camera lines.

The overheating issues of Fujifilm cameras are such a problem for me. The short video cut-off is also a real concern . The appearance of the Fuji is gorgeous, but I can't buy a camera based on that! It's 2021 and I wonder if the Sony A6400 is still worth buying. I've been looking at the Fuji X-T4 but again the same problems, overheating, limited video time. Does anyone have any thoughts about this or recommendations or experience with these cameras? Great video btw, you put a mountain of effort put into this.

17:38 Honestly, at this point I think the x-trans setup is hurting Fuji more than helping. I with they would dump it can go back to Bayer (like on their original X100, the X-A series and their medium format models). I say this as someone that enjoys Fuji cameras (X-T30 owners and several others before). Also x-trans makes the raw file size larger than bayer files on the disk and of course Lightroom doesn't handle the x-trans files as well and they're slower to load/export. Just dump the x-trans and keep everything else and they'll have an even bigger winner on their hands. 25:44 Absolutely. I kept telling myself I wasn't buying another Fuji camera, but here I am again with another one ;-) (Z7 is my primary though). Also I was really, really surprised and happy with how good the sensor is in the X-T30. I had the a6400 for a week and couldn't get along with it...sent it back and got the X-T30. I am VERY happy with my decision.

Excellent video- thanks for this. I'm torn. I much prefer the color science on the Fuji, but since I only want two lenses (one zoom, one prime for low light) the Sony has cheaper options. For the same price I could either get A) A6400 with the 18-135mm (great reviews for a zoom lens) and Sigma 16mm f/1.4, or B) X-T30 with 18-55 and 23mm f/2. I worry that I might miss the extra zoom for an all-around travel lens, and the aperture isn't as wide on the prime either.

Hi! Is it normal that menu in Fuji X-T30 is a little bit laggy? Especially when using color profiles...

Im thinking of buying the xt30 with the XF 55-230 zoom for fast action photos of horse & rider over jumps (amateur only). Just wondering for focus, do other animal eyes get picked up under eye recognition? i usually aim square at rider mid section as horses are long and tricky to focus on. Ive tried to find blogs on equestrian photography & only found one that dissed mirrorless for too-slow tracking, in favour of a high end nikon dslr. Any feedback on whether you think the t30 could handle this job would be much apprec. currently using ancient old canon 30D & 70-200 zoom which gets me 1-2 in focus shots per jump only if im quick enough to follow action & start the press at precise right moment ! ty :)

After 10 mins of overheating on the xt30, how long does it take to cool off and is able to reshoot another 10 mins vid.

Great question. It's not so much the 10 mins that is a problem in most situations, as if you are planning on cutting and editing you probably have planned specific shots for specific times. But if you cannot record back to back shots for sustained amounts of time without it overheating, that's a problem.

Nice just what I was looking for. Still confused. I want a Funy or a Soji. I pretty much split down the middle with the portraits. I like both but I have an XT20. Got it cheap with kit lens. I really like the OOC jpegs of the Fuji. I also have the A7III and the Fuji is no match for that. But I wanted a replacement for the A6500 that I sold and Sony has been so slow coming out with the A6700/7000. So I got the Fuji during the sale that they had. I like how Fuji has these sales where they drop the prices of their cameras and lens. More Sony cameras coming out in the near future from what I hear so I am just waiting for now.

I bought the xt20 and i was surprised how bad is the image quality compared to my old nikon D7100, and like you said, i was happy shooting with Fuji, there is something about it.
I want to buy the xt30 instead of a6400 but my mind is telling me not to. But i really miss the fujifilm experience.
.. I think the X-Trans are not good performers they lack detail and images appear like paintings when zoomed in.
Thank you for your efforts anyway.. And i d appreciate if you can say your opinion about the image quality. Thanks again :)

Would like to see canon rp vs xt30. Thinking about selling my Nikon kit and getting one of those with a kit zoom and keeping 28, 50, 100mm Nikon manual primes to use adapted
